Sau ít phút nghỉ giải lao và trao đổi, ban điều
hành trại muốn đưa phái đoàn đi tham quan trại
để phần đóng góp cho những dự án của ban điều
hành được cụ thể hơn. Riêng phần ba, ba rất hoan
nghênh vì mục đích cuộc hành trình của ba vào
đây là được xem tận mắt những</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">
“</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">vị
ân nhân” của dân tộc, của nhân loại và của chính
ba như thế nào (như ba đã nói với con: bệnh tật
của những bệnh nhân là những đau khổ, đáng lý ra
mọi người phải chịu vì tội lỗi…)</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">.

Khi đã căn dặn một số điều cần thiết, phái đoàn
được hướng dẫn đi tham quan. Trước nhất một Dì
trong Ban Giám </span>

chỉ dẫn tỉ mỉ cho phái đoàn rõ cách bố trí trong
trại: Dì chỉ vào mô hình trại, trình bày tổng
quát vị thế tổ chức trong trại. Qua mô hình ba
đã biết được đại cương về trại, một lần nữa ba
rất cảm phục các vị sáng lập: cách tổ chức xếp
đặt thật khoa học. Đáng kể nhất là khi thành
lập, các ngài đã dự trù cho trại cả trăm năm
sau. Đồng thời với sự cảm phục ấy, ba càng có
thiện cảm với các vị thiên thần của Chúa. Dì
đứng giữa phái đoàn đang chỉ trỏ, hướng dẫn và
giải đáp những thắc mắc của những người muốn
biết thêm. Quả thật, Dì như một vị thiên thần
giáng thế: từ bộ trang phục trắng tinh không một
vết nhơ đến khuôn mặt tươi mát đầy duyên dáng,
nụ cười tươi xinh</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">,</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">
nhất là cặp mắt đẹp tuyệt trần long lanh trong
sáng, phản ánh lòng nhân hậu của Dì. Lời Dì
thuyết minh lại có một sức hấp dẫn lôi cuốn, ba
có cảm tưởng rằng để yên ủi những “vị anh hùng”
của Chúa, nên Chúa đã sai các vị sứ giả của Ngài
đến ở giữa họ.</span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 36pt;" class="MsoNormal">

Thuyết minh xong, phái đoàn được hướng dẫn đi
tham quan. Cùng đi với phái đoàn có b</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">an

điều hành và một số Dì. Khu tham quan đầu tiên
là khu nhà tập thể. Trên lối vào khu tập thể,
cảnh tưng bừng nhộn nhịp ồn ào lại diễn ra, bệnh
nhân đổ ra hai bên đường vẫy chào, nổ pháo, chụp
ảnh y như ngày hội lớn. Ba ngạc nhiên hỏi Dì đi
bên cạnh ba:</span></p>

được cảm giác chết chóc đen tối mà bệnh nhân
thấy trước mắt hay tiếng nổ đó đánh tan đi cảnh
u ám chết chóc? Còn khói pháo nồng nặc pha mùi

Qua một đoạn đường ngắn từ hội trường dẫn đến
khu tập thể, phái đoàn được hướng dẫn vào thăm
khu dành cho các thiếu nữ bệnh nhân: gồm một căn
nhà trệt thoáng mát, sơn quét trắng tinh chạy
dài hàng trăm thước, được chia làm nhiều phòng.

trắng tinh phủ luôn cả gối mùng mền. Nhưng điều
ngạc nhiên nhất đó là chủ nhân đứng ở đầu mỗi
giường, tuổi các bệnh nhân không chênh lệch bao
nhiêu, đều là các cô chưa có gia đình. Điểm
giống nhau nữa là các cô ăn mặc như nhau: áo bà
ba trắng, quần đen và cô nào cô nấy nước da
bóng, đỏ hồng.</span></p>

đẳng của Chúa đang độ xuân sắc. Bình thường ra
với độ tuổi này, họ đang là những lời ca tuyệt
tác của Đấng Tạo </span>

và là những nét son trong bản ca của con người,
của gia đình họ; thế mà họ đã bị đưa vào đây
ngoài ý muốn để rồi chỉ trong một thời gian ngắn
sẽ nhìn thấy cái chết dần mòn trên thân thể
mình. Giữa lúc ba đang bị xô đẩy trước những suy
nghĩ về các cô, ba đi ngang qua một cô, cái nhìn
của cô đã làm ba xúc động mạnh: cô nhìn ba với
tất cả lòng trìu mến. Ba nhớ đến những lúc trước
kia, khi con tâm sự với ba, cái nhìn của con nói
hơn là những lời con nói và ba đã dừng lại trao

Còn các bệnh nhân từng cụm đang đứng hoặc ngồi
chờ đợi đến lần mình. Phái đoàn tới thăm không
làm cho họ xôn xao bao nhiêu: các bệnh nhân vẫn
bình thản trố mắt theo dõi thái độ của phái
đoàn, rồi thì thào trao đổi với nhau. Họ thật
bình thản trong trật tự, hầu như họ đã quen
thuộc với những lần thăm viếng và thái độ của
khách tới viếng thăm. Có chăng là trao tặng họ
chút tình thương bên ngoài…</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">,

Rời khu tập thể, phái đoàn đến thăm khu cá thể,
nghĩa là khu các bệnh nhân có hoàn cảnh ngoại
lệ: bệnh nhân có gia đình hoặc có người nhà cùng
thứ bệnh muốn sống riêng. Khu cá thể gồm những
căn nhà nho nhỏ, xây cất chắc chắn, lợp tôn
Phirô, có thể chịu đựng được với hoàn cảnh bờ
biển. Các căn nhà nhỏ gần như giống nhau, cùng
một kiến trúc, nằm ngay ngắn trong một vị trí đã
được ban Giám Đốc trại ấn định. Nhà nào chung
quanh cũng có một mảnh vườn nh</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">ỏ

để bệnh nhân có thể trồng cấy một hai thứ cây
cần thiết theo sở thích. Nhiều tổ ấm có những
bồn bông rất đẹp, đôi khi có cả những loại kiểng
quý. Nhưng có một điều thắc mắc, ba hỏi Dì:</span></p>

Dì chỉ vào một miếng đất nhỏ không xa chỗ ba
đứng bao nhiêu. Ở đó còn ngổn ngang gạch cát và
khung cảnh chưa dựng. Dì trả lời:</span></p>

còn công xây cất thì gia đình bệnh nhân nào muốn

còn sự đóng góp của bệnh nhân bạn.</span></p>

Trong số những tổ ấm nhỏ này, ba thấy có một gia
đình đặc biệt: người đàn ông đã ngoài thất tuần
và người đàn bà cũng đã ngoài sáu mươi. Cả hai
ông bà đều bị bệnh trên ba chục năm rồi</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">,</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">
và ngày lìa đời của ông bà cũng không còn bao xa
vì hiện thời ông không còn khả năng đi lại được
nữa. Ông nhìn ba như một người từ bên kia thế
giới, ánh mắt mờ lệ và khắc khoải khiến ba mủi
lòng. Ba hỏi Dì hướng dẫn:</span></p>

Ra ngoài khu tư gia, phái đoàn được hướng dẫn
đứng quan sát khu phát triển của trại, chiếm một
khoảng rộng gấp hai lần khu tập trung, trong đó
những bệnh nhân còn có sức trồng cấy cây lương
thực, cây ăn trái và chăn nuôi gia súc, bò heo,
gà… Nhờ vậy mà nền kinh tế trại đỡ một phần nào.
Nhưng điều khó khăn hiện thời trại đang gặp là
nạn thiếu lương thực trầm trọng.</span></p>

Trở lại khu trung tâm, phái đoàn được hướng dẫn
viếng thăm nơi ở và sinh hoạt của các Dì phước,
rồi nhà của cha linh hướng. Tất cả đều đơn giản
và sạch sẽ. Nhưng khi ba đặt chân vào những nơi
này, ba nhận thấy một cảm giác thật khác thường.
Bầu không khí ắng lặng làm ba thấy như bước vào
một nơi linh thiêng, mà có lẽ không riêng mình
ba có cảm giác ấy. Ba thấy hầu hết những nhân
viên của phái đoàn đều có trạng thái đó, những
lời ồn ào trao đổi tự nhiên bớt hẳn đi, trái lại
con mắt làm việc nhiều hơn, nhất là khi ba được
biết trong số mười mấy Dì phục vụ ở đây, quá một
nửa là người ngoại quốc thuộc nhiều quốc tịch
khác nhau, kể cả cha linh hướng cũng là người
ngoại quốc, vốn trước đây người là </span>

Từ những hiểu biết đó đến cách sống đơn giản gần
như khắc khổ của các vị tu hành ở đây làm cho ba
càng kính trọng và cảm phục các ngài. Các ngài
thật là những sứ giả tình thương của Thiên Chúa
ban xuống cho nhân loại. Gương của các ngài đánh
động ba hơn bất cứ một bài giảng hùng hồn nào về
lòng bác ái Công giáo. Ba nhìn thấy đây không
phải là những kẻ chán đời như một số người xuyên
tạc chế nhạo; ngược lại, phải nói các ngài là
tinh hoa của nhân loại, từ học thức đến duyên
sắc, nhất là một số Dì phước tuổi xuân còn đang
mơn mởn, duyên dáng như những bà tiên, thì ai mà
có thể xuyên tạc được</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">,</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">
nếu không phải vì một lý do duy nhất là tình
yêu.</span></p>

Cho mãi đến lúc ba quỳ cầu nguyện chung với cộng
đồng trong nhà nguyện, nhà nguyện thường đặt
Mình Thánh Chúa suốt ngày và lúc nào cũng có
bệnh nhân đến chầu. Giờ ba vào viếng nhằm giờ
chầu chung. Vì thời giờ có hạn nên ba không được
ở lại lâu, nhưng qua ít phút nghe tiếng bệnh
nhân cầu kinh và ca hát, ba phần nào hiểu được
lý do làm cho các bệnh nhân kiên trì chịu đựng
được với những cơn bạo bệnh dầ</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">n</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">

và sự hy sinh quảng đại của quý Cha, quý Dì.</span></p>

“<i>Chết vì yêu</i>”, mấy tiếng đó ba đọc thấy
ngay dưới chân bàn thờ đặt Mình Thánh Chúa, làm
ba xúc động vô cùng. Mấy tiếng đó vừa giúp ba
hiểu vì yêu nhân loại tội lỗi Chúa đã sẵn sàng
chấp nhận làm người để cứu cả nhân loại, trong
đó có cả ba đây. Nó cũng giúp ba hiểu được điều
ba đang thắc mắc: động lực nào đã thúc đẩy quý
Cha, quý Dì chấp nhận hy sinh trọn đời mình ở
nơi cùng cốc nguy hiểm tính mạng này. A! </span>

cả chỉ vì yêu Chúa và yêu hình ảnh của Chúa qua

Cũng chính giờ phút này đây, ba hướng về con và
ba thấy con thật là có lý khi con nhất quyết đòi
ba đi tu. Ba tạ ơn Chúa đã không để ba cố chấp
giữ con ở lại với ba và cầu xin Chúa cho con
được trung thành với Chúa</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;">.

Hết giờ chầu, ba lẩn thẩn ra cuối nhà thờ để
nhìn chung ngôi nhà nguyện, là linh hồn của cả
trại. Bỗng ba khám phá được một điều hết sức kỳ
diệu: đó là ngôi mộ của Dì Antony Nhẫn.</span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 36pt;" class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;" lang="VI">
Lúc vào nhà nguyện, ba từ nhà quý Dì vào cửa
ngang nên ba không hay biết có ngôi mộ cuối nhà
thờ. Do một sự tình cờ ba được biết, ba đã lại
gần đọc từng dòng chữ ghi trên mộ, những dòng
chữ quá vắn gọn này càng làm ba tò mò. Ba đã đi
tìm Dì hướng dẫn để biết rõ thân thể và sự
nghiệp của Dì Antony Nhẫn, một vị đại ân nhân,
và theo ba - ba nhắc lại cho con - Dì Antony là
một vị thánh.</span></p>
