Rồi Chị xin tôi đến phòng khách để Chị dặn dò. Tôi cho là Chị có vẻ khắt khe quá vì không nên làm trò cười cho người đời. Chị liền tỏ vẻ bất bình nói giọng cứng rắn:</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

Xin chị </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">nhớ lại những điều em nói với chị do Chúa chúng ta, chị hãy xem Chúa đã </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">thưởng công lòng trung tín của các đầy tớ Ngài ra sao, và chị hãy cố gắng bắt </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">chước những đầy tớ trung tín đó”.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:4.5pt;margin-bottom:0in;margin-left:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Tôi liền quyết định không khiêu vũ nữa, nhưng không biết làm thế nào để </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "><span style="color:black; ">tránh được, nên tôi mang trong túi áo một tượng chuộc tội lớn và đọc kinh thật </span><span style="color:black; ">sốt sắng.</span></span></p>

Nhưng rồi chẳng hiểu sao </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">một chàng thanh niên tới dìu tôi. Cứ một lần điệu nhạc lặp lại, là người thanh niên đáng thương lại </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">cố gắng đưa người tới, còn tôi dù khó nhọc mấy cũng vô ích. Cuối cùng, chàng </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">thẹn đỏ mặt bỏ đi, sau khi đã dìu tôi nhảy vài bước rất đạo đức.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.8pt;margin-right:4.5pt;margin-bottom:0in;margin-left:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Sau khi vào Dòng được mấy tháng, thấy đời tu có phần nào khắc khổ đối với bản </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "><span style="color:black; ">tính tự nhiên, tôi liền được Chị Têrêsa Hài Đồng Giêsu khích lệ: </span><span style="color:black; ">“Chị than phiền là không làm theo ý mình được, em thấy không đúng. Tuy hằng ngày chị không theo ý mình trong những chi tiết nhỏ nhặt, nhưng chẳng phải chính chị đã chọn cuộc sống này sao? Nên chị đã làm theo ý mình bằng cách không thi hành nó, vì chị đã biết rõ phải làm gì khi vào Dòng Kín rồi. </span><br>
<span style="color:black; ">Em thú thực là sẽ không ở đây lấy một phút vì bị ép buộc. Nếu người ta cưỡng bách em kéo dài cuộc sống như thế này, em sẽ không thể sống được. Nhưng đây là chính em tuyển chọn thế kia mà!… Em muốn tất cả những gì trái ý em. Phải, chính em ước muốn những điều đó, như em đã nói ngày được khấn dòng: ‘Chính con yêu thích và được tự do trở nên nữ tu Dòng Kín’”</span><sup><span style="color:#0056AC; ">98</span></sup><span style="color:black; ">. </span><br>
<span style="color:black; ">Tháng 3 năm 1895, khi ở ngoài vườn cùng với chị em Nhà tập, tôi thấy một cây tuyết điểm hoa vội chạy lại định ngắt, nhưng Chị Têrêsa Hài Đồng Giêsu cản tôi lại và nói: “Không được phép”.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:4.5pt;margin-bottom:0in;margin-left:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Ý nghĩ ngay việc ngắt một bông hoa cũng không được, làm tôi thấy thật nặng </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">nề, nước mắt giàn trên mi. Hôm đó là Chúa nhật. Trở về phòng, để tự yên ủi, tôi </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">muốn sáng tác một bài thơ diễn tả tất cả những gì tôi yêu thích cũng như tôi thấy </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">trong Chúa Giêsu. Song tôi chỉ viết được có dòng cuối cùng này:</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

Chị đã không nói gì hết. Nhưng vài </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">ngày sau Chị trao cho tôi một bài thơ nhan đề là “Thánh ca của Céline”. Về sau </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">bài này được xuất bản dưới nhan đề “Điều tôi yêu”.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.8pt;margin-right:4.5pt;margin-bottom:0in;margin-left:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Tôi kể ra đây những tấm gương đó vì tôi đã chứng kiến, hay vì chị đã tâm sự với </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">tôi để khuyến khích tôi can đảm hy sinh.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Một hôm trong giờ chơi, Mẹ chúng tôi đọc một lá thư có liên quan tới Chị </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Têrêsa Hài Đồng Giêsu mà chị lại vắng mặt, nên Chị xin tôi đưa chị coi. Tôi liền </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">xin phép và trao cho Chị.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Mấy ngày sau tôi cần thư đó, khi Chị trả lại, tôi hỏi Chị xem có thấy thú vị </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "><span style="color:black; ">không, Chị đành phải nhận là chưa đọc. Tôi lại đưa để Chị coi, nhưng vô ích vì </span><span style="color:black; ">Chị không hề mở thư ra. Trong mọi việc Chị đều hãm dẹp những ước muốn dầu </span><span style="color:black; ">là rất vô tội như thế. Riêng trường hợp này, Chị muốn phạt mình vì đã xin tôi </span><span style="color:black; ">cho xem thư.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:4.5pt;margin-bottom:0in;margin-left:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">Chị không hề nghe ngóng tin tức. Nếu thấy chị em vây quanh Mẹ Bề trên có </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">dáng để săn tin, Chị liền tránh không đi lối đó nữa.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

Sau khi hôn chào tôi như các chị em khác. Lần khác, nhân ngày lễ, tôi lại nài ép Chị ăn, nhưng vô ích! Chị trả lời: </span><br>

Khi tôi mới </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">vào Dòng, Chị chỉ cho tôi thấy qua cửa sổ phòng tôi, có thể trông rõ đường rầy </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">xe lửa ở đàng xa, nằm giữa khoảng cách hai ngôi nhà. Chị bảo: “Chị sẽ vừa ý vì </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">được ngắm xe lửa đi qua…”.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>

Trong vấn đề này cũng như </span><span style="color:black; ">những vấn đề khác, Chị cư xử cách đơn sơ và dâng lời chúc tụng Chúa trong </span><span style="color:black; ">những kỳ công của Ngài. Chính với tinh thần đó mà Chị thích vuốt những trái </span><span style="color:black; ">cây nhất là trái hạnh đào. Chị chiêm ngưỡng làn vỏ mịn màng như nhung của nó </span><span style="color:black; ">và Chị thích phân biệt những mùi thơm giữa các loại hoa khác nhau.</span></span></p>

Phần tôi, tôi thấy khi mang những dụng cụ đó </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">cũng như khi đánh tội, tự nhiên người ta tránh sao cho bớt đau đớn. Tôi giãi bày </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:black; ">những cảm nghĩ trên với Têrêsa thì Chị kêu lên:</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; "> </span></p>
