Và Người có trước mọi loài, và mọi loài tồn tại trong Người. Người là đầu thân thể, tức là Hội thánh, là nguyên thuỷ và là trưởng tử giữa kẻ chết, để Người làm bá chủ mọi loài. Người đáp lại rằng: "Các ông có thể bắt các bạn hữu đến dự tiệc cưới, ăn chay, đang khi tân lang còn ở với họ chăng? Cũng chẳng ai đổ rượu mới vào bầu da cũ; chẳng vậy, rượu mới sẽ làm vỡ bầu da, rượu chảy ra và bầu da hư mất. Nhưng rượu mới phải đổ vào bầu da mới, thì giữ được cả hai. Việc ăn chay, cầu nguyện theo cái nhìn của biệt phái, là để chứng tỏ con người của họ thánh thiện đạo đức. Vì các môn đệ của Đức Giêsu không ăn chay nên họ đã đặt vấn đề với Đức Giêsu.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Đức Giêsu không phủ nhận giá trị của việc ăn chay, cũng không trách việc ăn uống. Ăn chay hay ăn uống đúng lúc thì mới hợp lý. Các môn đệ của Chúa cũng sẽ ăn chay khi Ngài là chàng rễ được cất đi. Còn bây giờ Ngài còn ở với họ, niềm vui đầy tràn sao bắt họ căn chay.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>

Vì rượu mới phải đổ vào bầu da mới. Từ đó làm cho chúng con suy nghĩ về cuộc sống của chúng con hôm nay. Chúng con được phúc làm con Cha, một người Cha tràn đầy yêu thương, luôn lo lắng chăm sóc cho chúng con. Vì thế, cuộc sống của chúng con phải luôn bình an và phấn khởi. Ở trong tinh thần tự do của người con, chúng con không được sống theo tinh thần dân ngoại, người nô lệ, để phải gò bó, sợ hãi. Tin vào tình yêu của Cha, chúng con xin phó thác cuộc sống chúng con trong tay Cha, nhờ Đức Giêsu Con Cha, Chúa chúng con.
