Bấy giờ những người lính đến, đánh giập ống chân người thứ nhất và người thứ hai cùng bị đóng đinh với Chúa Giêsu. Khi đến gần Chúa Giêsu, chúng thấy Người đã chết, nên không đánh giập ống chân Người; nhưng một tên lính lấy ngọn giáo đâm thủng cạnh sườn Người, và lập tức máu cùng nước chảy ra. Và kẻ đã xem thấy, thì đã minh chứng, mà lời chứng của người đó chân thật, và người đó biết rằng mình nói thật để cả chư vị cũng tin. Những điều đó đã xảy ra để ứng nghiệm lời Kinh Thánh rằng: "Không một cái xương nào của Người bị đánh giập". Và lại có lời Kinh Thánh khác rằng: "Chúng sẽ nhìn vào Ðấng chúng đã đâm thâu qua".</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;background:white;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Lễ Thánh Tâm Chúa Giêsu tỏ rõ tình yêu của Thiên Chúa đối với con người, bằng cách làm cho tình yêu này trở nên hữu hình trong Trái Tim Con của Người. Trái tim cũng có nghĩa là tâm điểm, chỗ sâu thẳm nhất, ẩn náu nhất. Nơi trái tim Đức Kitô, tâm điểm của cuộc đời Người, tâm điểm của những gì Người đã nói, tâm điểm của những gì Người đã làm, chúng ta đều khám phá ra Tình Yêu của Thiên Chúa.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;background:white;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Chúng ta khám phá rằng, vị Thiên Chúa ẩn náu đó, rất bí ẩn, mà không ai đã nhìn thấy, không ai có thể tưởng tượng được, chủ yếu Người là tình yêu và Người yêu chúng ta quá đỗi đến nỗi Người mặc xác phàm nơi thân xác Con của Người. Người Con này yêu chúng ta lắm, và cũng yêu Cha Người quá đỗi, đến nỗi Người tình nguyện thí mạng mình và chết trên thập giá để nói lên cách cụ thể, tình yêu của Người đến mức nào: "Không có tình yêu nào lớn hơn là thí mạng sống mình cho người mình yêu".</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;background:white;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Nhưng tình yêu này của Thiên Chúa cho chúng ta vẫn không được ai hiểu thấu, và cũng ít được con người đáp trả lại: Tình yêu không được ai yêu! Lễ Thánh Tâm Chúa Giêsu cũng nói với chúng ta nỗi buồn đau của Thiên Chúa trước sự vô ơn của con người. Nhưng làm thế nào để yêu mến Thiên Chúa? Chúng ta phải làm gì để vui lòng Người? "Nếu ai yêu mến Thầy, thì sẽ giữ lời Thầy". Chúa Giêsu nói thế với chúng ta.</span></p>
