Do đó, Phaolô và Barnaba đã tranh luận gắt gao với họ. Khi đến Giêrusalem, các ngài được giáo đoàn, các Tông đồ và kỳ lão đón tiếp, rồi các ngài kể lại bao nhiêu việc Thiên Chúa đã thực hiện với các ngài. Nhưng có mấy người tín hữu thuộc nhóm biệt phái đứng lên nói rằng: "Phải cắt bì cho những người dân ngoại và bắt họ cũng phải giữ luật Môsê". Nhành nào trong Thầy không sinh trái thì Người chặt đi, còn nhành nào trong Thầy không sinh trái thì Người chặt đi, còn nhành nào sinh trái thì Người tỉa sạch để nó sai trái hơn. Các con đã được tỉa sạch nhờ lời Thầy đã nói với các con. Các con ở trong Thầy, và Thầy ở trong các con. Cũng như nhành nho tự nó không thể sinh trái được, nếu không dính liền với cây nho; các con cũng vậy, nếu không ở trong Thầy.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>

Dân này được Thiên Chúa vun trồng, che chở bao bọc như chủ vườn chăm sóc cây nho. Nhưng dân này đã làm Thiên Chúa thất vọng vì họ không trổ sinh hoa trái tốt lành.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Trong bài Tin Mừng hôm nay. Đức Giêsu chính là hình ảnh cây nho thật mà Chúa Cha ưng ý. Cây nho trổ sinh nhiều hoa trái cho Thiên Chúa. Đức Giêsu là cây, các môn đệ là cành. Cành nho chỉ sinh nhiều hoa trái khi gắn liền với cây và được cắt tỉa. Môn đệ Đức Giêsu cũng chỉ trưởng thành trong ân sủng khi được kết hiệp với Ngài và được thanh luyện trong giáo huấn của Ngài.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>

Vì cành chỉ sống được nhờ sức sống của cây. Chúng con chỉ có thể sống, lớn lên và sinh nhiều hoa trái trong đức tin và ân sủng nhờ sức sống của Chúa. Xin cho chúng con can đảm để Chúa cắt tỉa chúng con. Dù khi cắt tỉa chắc chắn là đau xót, nhưng thà chúng con chịu đau để được sống đời đời, còn hơn chúng con không chịu hy sinh từ bỏ, chúng con chỉ là một cành trơ trụi và vô dụng mà Chúa sẽ loại trừ trong ngày sau hết.
