Hãy chăn dắt đoàn chiên Chúa nơi anh em, hãy trông nom nó, không phải bằng cách miễn cưỡng, mà là sẵn sàng theo thánh ý Chúa; không phải để trục lợi, mà là do tình nguyện; không phải như người chuyên chế lộng hành, nhưng phải nên gương sáng cho đoàn chiên. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:justify;line-height:200%; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Chúng ta vui mừng cử hành lễ kính hai thánh tông đồ Phêrô và Phaolô với tâm tình tạ ơn Thiên Chúa vì sự quan phòng Chúa đã thực thi cho và trong Hội Thánh của Người. Trên nền tảng đức tin của Phêrô, Thiên Chúa đã xây dựng Hội Thánh; và trong sự nhiệt thành của Phaolô, Thiên Chúa đã mở rộng Hội Thánh. Thánh Phêrô và Phaolô tuy có nhiều khác biệt về mặt con người như tính tình, trình độ và khuynh hướng nhưng hai ông đã gặp nhau trong ơn gọi Tông Đồ; hình thức và thời điểm khác nhau nhưng chính Đức Giêsu đã kêu gọi và tuyển chọn; để rồi hai ông cùng chia sẻ một bận tâm, một thao thức là xây dựng Hội Thánh trần thế. Nếu như với lời "Phêrô, nghĩa là đá, trên đá này, Thầy sẽ xây Hội Thánh của Thầy”, Phêrô đã trở nên nền tảng cho đời sống đức tin trong Hội Thánh; thì "Phaolô, sao ngươi tìm bắt Ta”, Phaolô đã trở nên nguồn cảm hứng cho đức tin của dân ngoại. Mỗi người một vẻ nhưng cả hai đã trở nên mạnh mẽ hơn trong đức tin sau những lần vấp ngã và trở thành cột trụ cho Giáo Hội Công Giáo. Nơi sự yếu đuối của Phêrô và Phaolô, Hội Thánh dễ cảm thông với những yếu đuối loài người của anh chị em như chính Đức Kitô đã nêu gương. Nếu như ngày nay trong Hội Thánh vẫn có những gương xấu trì trệ, hay bất cứ một khuyết điểm bất toàn nào đi nữa, thì chúng ta cũng hãy tin chắc rằng Hội Thánh là của Chúa và Chúa có thể làm mọi sự, vì "Thầy ở cùng các con mọi ngày cho đến tận thế”. Mừng lễ thánh Phêrô và Phaolô tông đồ hôm nay, chúng ta hãy tha thiết nguyện xin Thiên Chúa qua lời bầu cử của hai thánh, ban cho mọi thánh phần trong Hội Thánh, cách riệng, cho mỗi người chúng ta biết tích cực góp phần mình vào việc xây dựng Hội Thánh trần gian và mở rộng Nước Chúa. Đồng thời chúng ta xin thêm lòng yêu mến Chúa Giêsu Phục Sinh, yêu mến và gắn bó với Hội Thánh của Chúa, cũng như trung thành hoàn tất ơn gọi theo Chúa đến cùng</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:12.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:justify;line-height:200%; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Niềm tin của các tông đồ bị thử thách nặng nề khi Chúa Giêsu báo cho các ông biết Ngài sẽ lên Giêrusalem để chịu nạn, chịu chết và phục sinh. Ông Simon Phêrô bị sốc nặng, nên đã kéo riêng Ngài ra và nói:</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:12.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:justify;line-height:200%; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">"Xin Thiên Chúa thương đừng để Thầy gặp phải chuyện ấy!" Chúa Giêsu đưa ông về lại chỗ của mình, phía sau Ngài, và khẳng định: "Tư tưởng của anh không phải là tư tưởng của Thiên Chúa, mà là của loài người" (Mt 16,22-23). Khi Phêrô tuyên xưng rằng Đức Giêsu chính là Đấng Mêsia, Đấng Thánh của Thiên Chúa, ông đã tin và đã biết những gì? Niềm tin của Phêrô bắt đầu bị thử thách khi cứ phải tiếp tục tin trong lúc những dấu lạ ngày càng ít đi, trong lúc lời của Thầy làm đảo lộn lý lẽ con người nơi ông, cũng là lý lẽ của các môn đệ khác.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:12.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>
