<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="line-height:200%; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Đây Chúa là Thiên Chúa phán: "Ngươi hãy hô to, và đừng ngừng tiếng; hãy làm cho tiếng ngươi vang dội như tiếng kèn, và loan báo cho dân Ta biết sự bất trung của họ, cho nhà Giacóp biết tội lỗi của nó. Vì hằng ngày họ tìm kiếm Ta, và ước mong biết đường lối Ta, như một dân tộc thực hiện công lý và không bỏ lề luật Chúa. Họ hỏi Ta về quy tắc công lý và ước mong đến gần Thiên Chúa: "Tại sao chúng con ăn chay mà Chúa không thấy? Tại sao chúng con hãm mình mà Chúa không hay biết?" Phải, trong ngày ăn chay, các ngươi lo dàn xếp công việc làm ăn, các ngươi hối thúc mọi người làm công. Phải, các ngươi ăn chay trong sự cãi vã, ẩu đả và đánh nhau hung tợn. Các ngươi đừng ăn chay như xưa nay, là cố la lớn tiếng cho người ta nghe. Có phải đó là việc ăn chay mà Ta mong muốn, có phải như thế là ngày hãm mình không? Gục đầu như bông sậy, mặc áo thô, nằm trên đống tro, có phải đó là ăn chay, là ngày làm cho Chúa hài lòng không? Nào ăn chay như Ta mong muốn không phải như thế này sao, là huỷ bỏ xiềng xích bất công, tháo gỡ ách nặng, trả tự do cho kẻ bị áp bức, dẹp bỏ mọi gánh nặng; hãy chia cơm bánh cho kẻ đói, tiếp rước những kẻ phiêu bạt không nhà; nếu ngươi gặp một người trần truồng, hãy cho họ áo mặc, ngươi đừng khinh bỉ người cùng xác thịt như mình. Như thế, sự sáng ngươi tỏ rạng như hừng đông, các vết thương ngươi sẽ lành nhanh chóng; công lý ngươi sẽ đi trước mặt ngươi, vinh quang Chúa sẽ hậu thuẫn cho ngươi. Như thế, khi ngươi kêu cầu, Chúa sẽ trả lời; ngươi la lên, Chúa sẽ phán: "Này Ta đây".</span></p>

Chúa Giêsu nói với họ: "Làm sao các khách dự tiệc cưới có thể buồn rầu khi tân lang đang còn ở với họ? Rồi sẽ có ngày tân lang ra đi, bấy giờ họ mới giữ chay".</span></p>

Vui hay buồn được biểu lộ từng hoàn cảnh thích hợp. Ăn chay là dấu hiệu</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; color:#002060; "> </span><span style="font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">của sự đau buồn. Dân Ninivê hối hận khi nghĩ đến tội lỗi đã làm họ tách biệt Thiên Chúa. Họ đánh mất ơn nghĩa và tình yêu thương của Thiên Chúa. Vì thế họ đã ăn chay, rắc tro lên đầu để tỏ lòng sám hối. Đức Giêsu đến đem Tin Mừng, đem bình an. Có Đức Giêsu hiện diện mà đau buồn là một nghịch lý.</span></p>

Khi có Chúa, đời chúng con không thể sầu khổ. Chúa là tình yêu thương, nên Chúa chỉ cho chúng con sự may lành, tốt đẹp, và chúng con đươc vui mừng. Chúng con sẽ bất hạnh khi cuộc đời chúng con để mất Chúa.</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; "> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="line-height:200%; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Xin cho chúng con luôn gắn bó với Chúa, để cuộc đời đến với chúng con dưới bất cứ hình thức nào, chúng con vẫn nhận ra ở chiều sâu của nó một tình yêu thương vô bờ.
