Khi ông đến trước cửa thành, ông thấy một quả phụ đang lượm củi; ông gọi bà và nói với bà rằng: "Xin đem cho tôi một ít nước trong bình để tôi uống". Ðương lúc bà đi lấy nước, ông gọi lại mà nói: "Xin cũng mang cho tôi một miếng bánh".</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Bà thưa: "Có Chúa là Thiên Chúa hằng sống chứng giám: Tôi không có sẵn bánh, tôi chỉ còn một nắm bột trong hũ với một ít dầu trong bình. Này đây tôi lượm vài que củi về nấu cho tôi và con trai tôi ăn, rồi chết thôi".</span></p>

Nhưng, với chút bột ấy trước hết hãy làm cho tôi một cái bánh nhỏ, đem ra đây cho tôi, sau đó hãy làm cho bà và con trai bà. Vì Chúa là Thiên Chúa Israel truyền rằng: 'Hũ bột sẽ không cạn và bình dầu sẽ không vơi đi cho đến ngày Chúa cho mưa xuống trên mặt đất'".</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Ðức Giêsu không tiến vào cung thánh do tay người phàm làm ra chỉ là hình bóng cung thánh thật, nhưng Người vào chính thiên đàng, để từ đây xuất hiện trước tôn nhan Thiên Chúa vì chúng ta. Người không còn hiến dâng chính mình nhiều lần, như vị thượng tế vào cung thánh mỗi năm một lần với máu không phải của mình. Chẳng vậy, từ tạo thiên lập địa, Người đã phải chết nhiều lần; nhưng từ nay cho đến tận thế, Người chỉ xuất hiện một lần tế lễ chính mình để huỷ diệt tội lỗi. Như đã quy định, người ta chỉ chết một lần thế nào, sau đó là phán xét, thì Ðức Kitô cũng hiến tế một lần như vậy, để xoá tội lỗi của nhiều người. Người sẽ xuất hiện lần thứ hai, không phải để chuộc tội, nhưng để cứu độ những ai trông đợi Người.</span></p>

Chợt có một bà goá nghèo đến bỏ hai đồng tiền là một phần tư xu. Người liền gọi các môn đệ và bảo: "Thầy nói thật với các con: Trong những người đã bỏ tiền vào hòm, bà goá nghèo này đã bỏ nhiều hơn hết. Vì tất cả những người kia bỏ của mình dư thừa, còn bà này đang túng thiếu, đã bỏ tất cả những gì mình có để nuôi sống mình".</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Ðức Giêsu đưa ra hai hình ảnh đối nghịch: một bên là sự giả hình của các kinh sư, biệt phái. Lòng họ đầy mưu mô xảo quyệt nhưng được che đậy bằng một lớp vỏ bọc bên ngoài hết sức an toàn. Bên kia là sự chân thành của bà góa nghèo, bà đã dâng số tiền nhỏ mọn với thái độ âm thầm và quảng đại. Như thế giá trị của việc dâng cúng hay bất cứ việc gì khác không tùy thuộc số lượng, hay kết quả bên ngoài; nhưng tùy thuộc tấm lòng thành và cách sống của mỗi người.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Lạy Cha, Cha không cần chúng con phải dâng cho Cha của lễ cao trọng. Cha cũng không bắt chúng con phải hy sinh, phải chia sẻ cho anh em quá độ ngoài sức chúng con. Nhưng Cha đòi hỏi nơi chúng con sự chân thành, và quảng đại thực sự. Chúng con vẫn còn cái nhìn rất hạn hẹp khi đánh giá người khác qua hình thức bên ngoài. Chúng con vẫn dùng tiền bạc của cải làm thước đo thang giá trị. Xin cho chúng con tích cực cộng tác về mọi phương diện trong việc xây dựng Hội Thánh, xây dựng giáo xứ, khu xóm và chân thành thực thi bác ái đối với anh chị em chúng con. Amen.</span></p>
