<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Trong những ngày ấy, có những người tọc mạch dò xét, họ bắt gặp Ðaniel đang cầu nguyện kêu xin cùng Chúa mình. Họ liền đến tâu vua về điều lệ rằng: "Tâu đức vua, chớ thì đức vua đã chẳng quy định rằng: trong ba mươi ngày, hễ ai cầu xin cùng thần minh nào hay người nào ngoài đức vua, thì, lạy đức vua, nó sẽ bị ném vào hang sư tử đó sao?" Vua trả lời rằng: "Ðúng, cứ như sắc chỉ Mêđia và Batư, thì không được sai lỗi". Bấy giờ họ lại tâu vua rằng: "Ðaniel thuộc con cái Giuđa phải lưu đày, đã chẳng xem sao lề luật và chiếu chỉ vua đã quy định: mỗi ngày nó đọc kinh cầu nguyện ba lần". Khi nghe biết điều đó, nhà vua rất đỗi buồn rầu. Vua quyết tâm cứu chữa Ðaniel, và cố gắng cứu người cho đến khi mặt trời lặn. Những người ấy hiểu ý vua, liền tâu vua rằng: "Tâu đức vua, xin đức vua biết cho rằng dân Mêđia và Batư có lề luật này là bất cứ sắc chỉ nào đức vua ra, thì không được thay đổi". Bấy giờ vua truyền dẫn Ðaniel ra, và họ ném người xuống hang sư tử. Vua bảo Ðaniel rằng: "Xin Thiên Chúa ngươi hằng thờ lạy sẽ cứu thoát ngươi". Người ta liền lấy hòn đá chận cửa hang, vua lấy nhẫn mình và nhẫn các quan triều thần mà đóng ấn niêm phong, để bảo đảm vụ Ðaniel.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Vua trở về hoàng cung liền đi ngủ, không chịu ăn uống lương thực dâng trước mặt vua, nhưng vua không sao ngủ được. Trời vừa rạng đông, vua liền chỗi dậy, vội vã chạy ra hang sư tử. Khi đến gần cửa hang, vua liền lớn tiếng khóc thương Ðaniel rằng: "Hỡi Ðaniel tôi tớ Thiên Chúa hằng sống, không biết Thiên Chúa ngươi hằng thờ lạy có cứu chữa được ngươi thoát khỏi sư tử chăng?" Ðaniel trả lời rằng: "Tâu đức vua muôn tuổi, Thiên Chúa của thần đã sai thiên sứ đến bịt miệng sư tử lại, nên chúng không làm hại được thần; vì trước mặt Thiên Chúa, thần là người công chính; vả lại tâu đức vua, trước mặt đức vua, thần cũng chẳng làm điều gì sai lỗi. Bấy giờ vua mừng rỡ, truyền kéo Ðaniel ra khỏi hang. Khi Ðaniel ra khỏi hang, người ta thấy người không bị hề hấn gì, vì người đã tin cậy vào Thiên Chúa của người. Vua liền truyền đem các người tố cáo Ðaniel, cùng vợ con của chúng, ném vào hang sư tử, chúng chưa kịp rơi xuống tới đáy hang, thì đã bị sư tử cắn xé nát thịt tan xương.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Bấy giờ vua Ðariô ra chiếu chỉ cho toàn dân, các chi họ, các thổ ngữ, những người đang cư ngụ trong toàn quốc rằng: "Nguyện cho các ngươi được thêm sự bình an. Ta đã ra chiếu chỉ cho các địa phương trong nước ta, ai nấy đều phải kính sợ Thiên Chúa của Ðaniel. Vì chính Người mới là Thiên Chúa hằng sống, và hằng có đời đời; nước Người không hề tan rã, và quyền bính Người tồn tại đến muôn đời. Chính Người là Ðấng Giải thoát và Cứu độ, Người làm những dấu lạ và những việc kỳ diệu trên trời dưới đất: Người đã cứu chữa Ðaniel khỏi hang sư tử".</span></p>

Bấy giờ những ai ở trong đất Giuđa, hãy chạy trốn lên núi, những ai ở trong thành, hãy rời xa, và những ai ở vùng quê, chớ có vào thành; vì những ngày ấy là những ngày báo oán, để ứng nghiệm mọi lời đã ghi chép.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">"Khốn cho những đàn bà đang mang thai và nuôi con thơ trong những ngày ấy: vì chưng sẽ có sự khốn cực cả thể trong xứ và cơn thịnh nộ trút xuống dân này. Chúng sẽ ngã gục dưới lưỡi gươm, sẽ phải bắt đi làm tôi trong các dân, và Giêrusalem sẽ bị các dân ngoại chà đạp, cho đến thời kỳ dành cho dân ngoại chấm dứt.</span></p>

Người ta sợ hãi kinh hồn, chờ đợi những gì sẽ xảy đến trong vũ trụ, vì các tầng trời sẽ rung chuyển. Lúc đó, người ta sẽ thấy trên đám mây, Con Người hiện đến đầy quyền năng và uy nghi cao cả. Khi những điều đó bắt đầu xảy đến, các con hãy đứng dậy và ngẩng đầu lên, vì giờ cứu rỗi các con đã gần đến".</span></p>

Và đó cũng là ngày mà sự can thiệp cuối cùng có tính cách quyết liệt của Thiên Chúa vào lịch sử.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Giêrusalem sẽ bị dân ngoại thống trị, nhưng khi dân Israel trở về với Ðấng Kitô thì cũng hết thời của dân ngoại.</span></p>
