Chính tôi đã ao ước được loại khỏi Ðức Kitô vì phần ích anh em của tôi, là những thân nhân của tôi về phần xác. Họ đều là người Israel, họ được quyền làm nghĩa tử, được vinh quang, giao ước, lề luầt, việc phượng tự và lời hứa; các tổ phụ cũng là của họ, và bởi các đấng ấy mà Ðức Kitô sinh ra phần xác, Người là Thiên Chúa trên hết mọi sự, đáng chúc tụng muôn đời. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:20.0pt; color:#002060; ">Khi ấy, vào một ngày Sabbat, Chúa Giêsu vào dùng bữa trong nhà một thủ lãnh biệt phái, thì những người hiện diện ở đó dòm xét Người. Bấy giờ có một người mắc bệnh thuỷ thũng ở trước mặt Người. Chúa Giêsu lên tiếng hỏi các Luật sĩ và biệt phái rằng: "Trong ngày Sabbat, có được phép chữa bệnh không?" Các ông ấy làm thinh. Bấy giờ Người kéo kẻ ấy lại, và chữa lành, rồi cho về. Ðoạn Người bảo các ông rằng: "Trong ngày Sabbat, ai trong các ông có con lừa hay con bò rơi xuống giếng mà không lập tức kéo nó lên sao?" Nhưng các ông không thể trả lời câu hỏi ấy.</span></p>

Người Do thái chỉ tìm cách soi mói bắt bẻ, mà không biết cảm thương với người xấu số. Họ dựa vào Thiên Chúa để trách móc người khác. Nhưng đúng hơn, cũng dựa vào Thiên Chúa, họ mới là người rất đáng trách, vì họ không biết sống theo tinh thần của Chúa.</span></p>
