Đừng run sợ trước mặt họ, vì Ta không làm cho ngươi kinh hãi trước mặt họ.  Hôm nay Ta làm cho ngươi nên một thành trì vững chắc, một cây cột bằng sắt, một  vách thành bằng đồng trước mặt các vua Giuđa, các hoàng tử, các tư tế và dân  chúng xứ này. Họ sẽ chiến đấu chống ngươi, nhưng họ không thắng được ngươi, vì  Ta ở với ngươi để giải thoát ngươi&rdquo;.</span></p>

      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; ">1) Lạy Chúa, con tìm đến nương nhờ Ngài, xin đừng để con tủi hổ  muôn đời; theo đức công minh Chúa, xin cứu nguy và giải thoát con, xin ghé tai  về bên con và giải cứu. - Đáp.</span></p>
      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; ">2) Xin trở nên thạch động để con dung thân, và chiến luỹ vững bền  hầu cứu độ con: vì Chúa là Đá Tảng, là chiến luỹ của con. Lạy Chúa con, xin cứu  con khỏi tay đứa ác. - Đáp.</span></p>
      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; ">3) Bởi Ngài là Đấng con mong đợi, thân lạy Chúa! Lạy Chúa, Ngài  là hy vọng của con từ hồi thanh xuân. Ngay từ trong bụng mẹ, con đã nép mình  vào Chúa; từ trong thai mẫu, Chúa là Đấng bảo vệ con; con đã luôn luôn cậy  trông vào Chúa. - Đáp.</span>      </p>
      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; ">4) Miệng con sẽ loan truyền sự Chúa công minh, và suốt ngày kể  ra ơn Ngài giúp đỡ. Lạy Chúa, Chúa đã dạy con từ hồi niên thiếu, và tới bây giờ  con còn kể (ra) những sự lạ của Ngài. - Đáp.</span></p>

      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; ">Số là vua Hê-rô-đê đã sai người đi bắt ông Gio-an và xiềng ông  trong ngục. Lý do là vì vua đã lấy bà Hê-rô-đi-a, vợ của người anh là  Phi-líp-phê,  mà ông Gio-an lại bảo :  &ldquo;Ngài không được phép lấy vợ của anh ngài !&rdquo;   Bà Hê-rô-đi-a căm thù ông Gio-an và muốn giết ông, nhưng không được. Thật  vậy, vua Hê-rô-đê biết ông Gio-an là người công chính thánh thiện, nên sợ ông,  và còn che chở ông. Nghe ông nói, nhà vua rất phân vân, nhưng lại cứ thích  nghe.</span></p>
      <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',serif; font-size:18.0pt; color:#0033CC; "> Một ngày thuận lợi đến :  nhân dịp mừng sinh nhật của mình, vua Hê-rô-đê mở tiệc thết đãi bá quan văn võ  và các thân hào miền Ga-li-lê.  Con gái  bà Hê-rô-đi-a vào biểu diễn một điệu vũ, làm cho nhà vua và khách dự tiệc vui  thích. Nhà vua nói với cô gái : &ldquo;Con muốn gì thì cứ xin, ta sẽ ban cho  con.&rdquo;  Vua lại còn thề : &ldquo;Con xin gì, ta  cũng cho, dù một nửa nước của ta cũng được.&rdquo; Cô gái đi ra hỏi mẹ : &ldquo;Con nên xin  gì đây ?&rdquo; Mẹ cô nói : &ldquo;Đầu Gio-an Tẩy Giả.&rdquo;   Lập tức cô vội trở vào đến bên nhà vua và xin rằng : &ldquo;Con muốn ngài ban  ngay cho con cái đầu ông Gio-an Tẩy Giả, đặt trên mâm.&rdquo;  Nhà vua buồn lắm, nhưng vì đã trót thề, lại  thề trước khách dự tiệc, nên không muốn thất hứa với cô. Lập tức, vua sai thị vệ  đi và truyền mang đầu ông Gio-an tới. Thị vệ ra đi, chặt đầu ông ở trong ngục,  bưng đầu ông trên một cái mâm trao cho cô  gái, và cô gái trao cho mẹ.  Nghe tin ấy,  môn đệ đến lấy thi hài ông và đặt trong một ngôi mộ.</span></p>
