Phó tế đọc bài Thương Khó, hoặc nếu không có phó tế thì linh mục đọc. Giáo dân cũng có thể đọc bài Thương Khó, nhưng nếu được, nên dành những lời của Chúa Kitô cho linh mục. Nếu là phó tế, trước khi đọc bài Thương Khó, phải đến xin chủ tế ban phép lành như trong các thánh lễ khác.</span></p>
