cha Alexandre de Rhodes (Ðắc Lộ) rời Đàng Trong đi Macau. Đến nơi,
cha bắt tay viết<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span style="font-style: italic; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 12pt">Tường
trình về Đàng Trong<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>và
được ấn hành tại Paris năm 1652. Sách dày 135 trang. Đây là bản phúc
trình hoạt động của cha Đắc Lộ ở Đàng Trong trong các năm 1644–
1645. Trong sách, ngài kể lại cuộc bách hại đạo năm 1644 và cuộc tử
đạo của thày giảng Anrê Phú Yên.</span></div>

phì nhiêu này để củng cố nền móng Giáo Hội. Cha mang theo thủ cấp
của thầy giảng Anrê Phú Yên (chịu tử đạo năm 1644 và được giáo hoàng

Biện Hiệp vâng lệnh hoàng thượng truyền rằng: Tà đạo của người Âu
châu làm hư hỏng lòng người. Từ lâu các thuyền Âu châu khi đến buôn
bán đã để lại nhiều thừa sai trong nước. Những đạo trưởng này dụ dỗ
và làm hư hỏng nhân dân, đồng thời sửa đổi và phá đổ các tập tục tốt
lành trong nước. Như thế không phải là một cái họa cho chúng ta sao?
Chính vì thế, chúng ta cần phải chống lại tệ nạn này để dẫn đưa nhân
dân trở về chính đạo. Vì lẽ đó, chúng tôi, các quan hằng tuân giữ
các lệnh truyền của hoàng thượng, gửi cho quan trấn thủ Quảng Nam
chỉ dụ của vua để khi có tàu Pháp đến thì phải chú tâm xem xét cẩn
thận. Hơn nữa, cũng phải canh chừng cẩn thận các quan ải trên núi,
dưới đất hay cửa biển hầu ngăn chặn bất cứ đạo trưởng Âu châu nào
lén lút xâm nhập để họ không thể trà trộn trong dân chúng và gieo
rắc tà đạo trong đất nước. Các đạo trưởng này kế tiếp nhau không
gián đoạn và coi đó như là một việc thông thường. Minh Mệnh năm thứ

Kiệu có một bề dày lịch sử cả đạo lẫn đời. Về lịch sử dân sự, Trà
Kiệu nguyên là kinh đô Simhapura (Sư Tử Thành) của Vương quốc Champa
vào cuối thế kỷ II sau Công nguyên. Nhiều hiện vật khảo cổ cũng đã
được phát hiện dưới lòng đất trong khu vực này; mà hiện nay, một số
tượng đá thời vương quốc Champa đã được thu tập và hình thành một
“bảo tàng Chămpa” nho nhỏ tại Nhà xứ Trà Kiệu, do công của Cha Antôn

sử giáo hội Công Giáo, Trà Kiệu và cộng đoàn Dân Chúa Trà Kiệu được
biết đến như là “chứng nhân đức tin” trong thời kỳ bách hại, với
những cuộc tấn công không ngừng nghỉ của lực lượng “Văn Thân” nhằm
triệt phá xứ đạo này. Cũng chính trong bối cảnh bị bách hại đó, Trà
Kiệu đã được biết đến vì được “ơn lạ” của Thiên Chúa:<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span style="font-style: italic; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 12pt">Đức
Mẹ đã hiện ra để che chở và giải thoát đoàn con cái Chúa đang trong
cơn nguy biến (ngày 10–11.9.1885)</span>. Và cũng từ biến cố này,
một ngôi đền được dựng nên trên ngọn đồi Bửu Châu (cách nhà thờ Xứ
Trà Kiệu khoảng 500 m) để kính nhớ và dâng tiến Đức Trinh Nữ Maria
với tước hiệu “Đức Mẹ Phù Hộ Các Giáo Hữu”. Năm 1958, Đức cha Phêrô
Maria Phạm Ngọc Chi, đương nhiệm giám mục Quy Nhơn, đã chọn Trà Kiệu
làm Trung tâm Thánh Mẫu của giáo phận Quy Nhơn và đã tổ chức Đại hội
Thánh Mẫu đầu tiên tại Trà Kiệu từ ngày 31.1.1959 đến ngày 2.2.1959.</span></div>

sau (18.1.1963), khi tân giáo phận Đà Nẵng được thành lập, tách khỏi
giáo phận Mẹ Quy Nhơn, Trà Kiệu đã trở thành Trung tâm Thánh Mẫu của
tân giáo phận. Đại hội Thánh Mẫu lần II được tổ chức từ ngày
29/5–31.5.1971 cũng do Đức cha Phêrô–Maria Phạm Ngọc Chi, lúc này là
giám mục Chính tòa giáo phận Đà Nẵng. Từ đó, hằng năm vào ngày Lễ
Đức Mẹ Đi Viếng 31.5, như một thông lệ, giáo dân từ các nơi tìm đến
với Mẹ Trà Kiệu. Đại hội Thánh Mẫu Trà Kiệu lần III chính thức được
tổ chức nhân dịp kỷ niệm 110 năm Đức Mẹ hiện ra vào chính ngày 31/5
với khoảng 35.000 khách hành hương tham dự. Kể cả trong thời kỳ khó
khăn, vẫn có những kỳ Đại Hội tiếp theo: lần IV (năm 1997), lần V
(năm Thánh 2000) và hằng năm vẫn được tổ chức với lượng người tham
dự mỗi năm một thêm đông. Mỗi kỳ đại hội, ngoài cuộc kiệu rước trọng
thể cung nghinh Mẹ Trà Kiệu từ nhà thờ xứ xuống nhà thờ Núi, những
buổi diễn nguyện tôn vinh Đức Mẹ và Thánh Lễ đại trào; cộng đoàn dân
Chúa và khách hành hương lại có dịp sống gần Mẹ và sống gần nhau
trong tâm tình tạ ơn, khẩn nguyện và quyết sống trọn vẹn đời sống
chứng tá đức tin, như các bậc tiền nhân anh dũng. Hiện nay, ngoài
dịp đại hội hằng năm (bắt đầu từ chiều 30/5 và kết thúc vào chiều
31/5), mọi ngày trong năm đều có khách hành hương từ mọi nơi đến
viếng Mẹ, đặc biệt từ đầu tháng 5 đến hết tháng 8 dương lịch”.</span></div>
