Vào một ngày cuối năm khi những giờ phút cuối cùng của năm cũ đang
dần dần lui vào quá khứ, và giờ phút giao thừa đang dần dần đi tới
với tất cả những huyền bí của thời gian.</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Trong một túp lều tranh nhỏ bé, một bác nhà quê đang ngôi lim dim,
lẻ loi một mình trong cô quạnh. Trí khôn bác đang dồn dập những ý
tưởng mơ hồ viển vông về ngày Tết đang tới.</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Tết tới, những gia đình bác quá nghèo thành thử chẳng thấy được
hương vị gì của của ngày tết. </span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Đang khi tâm hồn của bác còn phảng phất trong trong cõi mông lung vô
hạn, thì bỗng tự trên ngọn tháp nhà thờ đồng hồ buông xuống 12 tiếng
chuông vàng, thanh trong hoan hỉ. Giây phút linh thiêng của đêm giao
thừa vừa mới bắt đầu, thì đột nhiên bác ta thấy một chàng thanh niên
lạ mặt xô cửa bước vào, đi thẳng tới, nặng nề đặt xuống trước mặt
bác một gói gì nằng nặng. Sau đó người thanh niên nhìn chằm chằm vào
đôi mắt còn đang ngỡ ngàng của bác và nói:</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
- Đây là một túi vàng. Túi vàng này ngươi hãy dùng cho khôn ngoan,
rồi ngươi sẽ gặp được hạnh phúc.</span></p>

Nói xong người thanh niên lạ mặt ấy nhún chân một cái rồi bay thẳng
lên nóc nhà và biến đi trong đêm tối vào cõi thanh không. </span>
</p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Trước cảnh tượng vừa lạ lùng vừa đột ngột đó bác nhà quê cảm thấy
rất <b><i>sửng sốt và hoang mang</i></b>. Bác đưa tay lên dụi mạnh
vào mắt xem mình còn thức hay đã ngủ,</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
- Tôi mơ chăng?</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Không! Bác không mơ. Hay có thể nói một giấc mơ đã trở thành sự
thật.</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Tâm hồn bác dần dần chấn tỉnh lại và thấy đây không phải là một giấc
mơ mà là một sự thật, một sự thật hoàn toàn hiển nhiên.</span></p>

Sau một vài phút suy nghĩ, bác liền nghiêm chỉnh tự nói với chính
mình: </span></p>

"Với số vàng này, một phần tôi sẽ dùng để trả nợ. </span></i></b>

Kính thưa anh chị em</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Câu chuyện trên đây là câu chuyện của tôi, của anh chị em, của mỗi
người chúng ta. Một năm mới nữa lại sắp tới. Đây là thời gian Chúa
ban tặng cho chúng ta. Chúng quí hơn túi bạc, túi vàng. Thánh
Bernađinô nói: "Thời giờ quí bằng Thiên Chúa" </span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Thời giờ quí hơn vàng hơn bạc. Vàng bạc mất đi chúng ta có thể có
lại. Vàng bạc mất đi chúng ta có thể tìm thấy. Nhưng một giây một
phút qua đi là qua đi mãi mãi. Cho dù có là thần là thánh đi nữa
chúng ta cũng không thể nào tìm lại được một giây, một phút đã qua
đi.</span></p>
<p>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: windowtext">
Thời giờ quí giá hơn vàng bạc. Vậy tôi phải bắt chước bác nhà quê
kia. Một mặt tôi <b><i>dùng</i></b> thời giờ Chúa ban cho tôi trong
năm mới này để trả nợ những gì tôi mắc nợ Chúa. Trong suốt một năm
qua, Người đã ban cho tôi muôn vàn ơn cao quí: Ơn Bình an, ơn trung
thành, ơn được sống trong ơn thánh. Chúa chăn nuôi tôi như mục tử
chăn dắt đoàn chiên. Thế nhưng trong suốt năm qua, rất nhiều lần tôi
đáp lại bằng những thất tín nặng nề. Trước thềm năm mới, tôi xin
dâng lên Chúa Xuân những lời cáo lỗi chân thành.</span></p>
<p>

Mặt khác, tôi sẽ dùng năm mới này cho <b><i>khôn ngoan</i></b>, lợi
dụng từng giây từng phút mà góp công chuộc tội.</span></p>

<font size="4">Nếu trong năm mới này hình ảnh Chúa Xuân trong hồn
tôi được thêm tốt đẹp, thì năm mới này sẽ là một năm hồng ân và cuộc
