<font face="Arial">Hy vọng đón Giáng Sinh tại Mosul của các tín hữu Kitô tị
nạn đã nhạt nhòa sau những tổn thất nặng nề của quân chính phủ. </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Chiến dịch giải phóng Mosul được bắt đầu vào ngày 16
tháng 10. Quân Kurd và quân Iraq tấn công bọn khủng bố Hồi Giáo IS trên ba
mặt trận và trong 2 tuần lễ đầu tiên, 120 làng mạc và thị trấn đã được giải
phóng. Bình minh ngày lễ Các Thánh Nam Nữ 1 tháng 11, Lực Lượng Đặc Biệt
Iraq tiến vào thành Mosul từ phía Đông trong khi hầu hết các làng mạc và thị
trấn bên ngoài Mosul đã hoàn toàn được giải phóng.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Những diễn biến đầy khích lệ này khiến nhiều tín hữu Kitô
tị nạn tại Erbil lạc quan hy vọng có thể đón Giáng Sinh năm nay tại Mosul.
Tuy nhiên, chiến dịch giải phóng Mosul đang chậm hẳn lại. Một trong những lý
do là chiến dịch này được thiết kế để phục vụ cho cuộc bầu cử tại Hoa Kỳ, cụ
thể là để giúp cho bà Hilary Clinton thắng cử. Khi không còn giá trị lợi
dụng, người ta ít mặn mà hơn. </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Bên cạnh đó, cố nhiên còn có những lý do khác về phương
diện thuần tuý quân sự. Ít nhất 2000 quân Iraq được báo cáo là đã thiệt mạng
trong những cuộc đụng độ bên trong thành phố Mosul. Bọn khủng bố Hồi Giáo IS
đã có ít nhất là 2 năm để đào những địa đạo bên trong thành phố để đánh
nhanh rút gọn, gây kinh hoàng cho đối phương. Bên cạnh đó quân Iraq còn phải
đối diện với những xe bom tự sát, và tình trạng bọn khủng bố Hồi Giáo IS trà
trộn trong dân để bắn tỉa và lấy dân làm bia đỡ đạn khiến cho phi pháo yểm
trợ quân Iraq từ trên không trở nên vô hiệu.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Khi chúng tôi thực hiện chương trình này 28 quận phía
Đông Mosul đã được giải phóng. Tuy nhiên, an ninh trong các khu vực này vẫn
còn rất bấp bênh nhất là vào ban đêm khi quân khủng bố Hồi Giáo IS có thể
xuất hiện bất cứ lúc nào từ các địa đạo.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chợ Giáng sinh, tiếng Đức là Weihnachtsmarkt; tiếng Pháp
là Marché de Noël, là một chợ đường phố kiểu truyền thống được tổ chức vào
dịp Giáng sinh (thường bắt đầu khoảng 1 tháng trước Lễ Giáng sinh) có nguồn
gốc tại vùng đất ngày nay là nước Đức và Đông Bắc nước Pháp. Bắt đầu xuất
hiện từ cuối thời Thời kỳ Trung Cổ (khoảng thế kỷ 14), cho đến nay chợ Giáng
sinh vẫn là nét văn hóa truyền thống đặc sắc của Đức, Áo và Đông Bắc Pháp
trong dịp Giáng sinh cũng như được phổ biến đến nhiều quốc gia khác trên thế
giới.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Các chợ Giáng sinh bắt đầu xuất hiện ở vùng đất nay là
nước Đức và Đông Bắc nước Pháp từ cuối thời kỳ Trung Cổ, các chợ thời kỳ đầu
có thể kể tới chợ Giáng sinh Dresden (tổ chức lần đầu năm 1434) hay chợ
Giáng sinh Bautzen (tổ chức lần đầu năm 1384).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ngày nay các chợ Giáng sinh thường là dịp thu hút khách
du lịch lớn trong mùa Giáng sinh, ví dụ chợ Giáng sinh Dresden thu hút từ
1.5 đến 2 triệu lượt khách mỗi năm, các thành phố khác của Đức có chợ Giáng
sinh lớn là Nürnberg, Stuttgart và Augsburg. Tại Pháp, ba chợ Giáng sinh lớn
nhất được tổ chức tại các thành phố vùng Đông Bắc là Strasbourg (nơi có chợ
Giáng sinh lớn nhất nước Pháp), Colmar và Reims, trong đó chợ Giáng sinh
Strasbourg được tổ chức ở xung quanh Nhà thờ lớn Strasbourg từ năm 1570.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Mô hình chợ Giáng sinh hiện nay cũng được phổ biến đến
