Lahore, Pakistan đã dời lại vụ xử Asia Bibi sau khi một thẩm phán vì qúa sợ
chết nên đã từ chức để khỏi tham gia vào vụ xử này.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Một tin đáng chú ý nữa về Pakistan là việc các phụ nữ
Kitô phát động một phong trào đấu tranh chống lại những sách nhiễu và sự
khinh miệt phụ nữ tại quốc gia này. Một bệnh dịch đang có xu hướng lan rộng
là thái độ bất lịch sự đến mức nham nhở của đàn ông Pakistan với phụ nữ
ngoài đường, nhất là với các phụ nữ Kitô là những người không mặc burqa và
không che mặt theo kiểu Hồi Giáo.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Một thẩm phán Tòa án Tối cao Pakistan đã đột ngột đệ đơn
từ chức để tránh khỏi phải xử vụ án Asia Bibi.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Thẩm phán Iqbal Hameed Rehman gây sửng sốt cho các quan
sát viên nhân quyền vào hôm 13 Tháng 10, khi bất ngờ đệ đơn từ chức. Ông ta
là một trong ba thẩm phán đã được giao để xử vụ án gây tranh cãi trong đó
Asia Bibi, một người phụ nữ Công Giáo phải đối mặt với án tử hình vì tội
báng bổ tiên tri Muhammad. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đơn xin từ chức của ông ta được chuẩn y vào ngày 26 tháng
10 và Tòa án Tối cao Pakistan tuyên bố hoãn phiên tòa. Phiên tòa xử Asia
Bibi đã bị trì hoãn nhiều lần vì những lý do ấm ớ khiến người phụ nữ Công
Giáo này bị giam cầm oan ức trong suốt 7 năm qua.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Asia Bibi là ai? Thưa: Asia Bibi tên thật là Aasiya
Noreen sinh năm 1971. Tên Asia Bibi được các nhà báo quốc tế gọi thường hơn.
Tháng 6 năm 2009, cô tranh cãi với một nhóm các phụ nữ Hồi Giáo là những
người cấm không cho cô được uống nước chung với họ từ một vòi nước công
cộng. Các phụ nữ Hồi Giáo này sau đó đã tố cáo cô nói những lời báng bổ tiên
tri Muhammad. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Cô bị cáo buộc đã nói những lời sau khi các phụ nữ Hồi
Giáo này chế nhạo tôn giáo của mình: “Tôi tin vào tôn giáo của tôi và tin
Chúa Giêsu Kitô, Đấng đã chết trên thập tự giá cho tội lỗi của nhân loại.
Tiên tri Mohammed của bạn đã từng làm được gì để cứu độ con người?” </font>

tại quận Sheikhupura trong bang Punjab tuyên án tử hình cô và còn bắt đóng
phạt một số tiền lên đến 1,100 Mỹ Kim. 40,000 người Hồi Giáo bao quanh khu

<font face="Arial">Chính Đức Giáo Hoàng Bênêđíctô thứ 16 can thiệp cùng với
một số nhà lãnh đạo trên thế giới nên án tử hình bị trì hoãn và vụ án được
tái xét sau khi một thỉnh nguyện thư gồm 400,000 chữ ký được thu thập trên
toàn quốc Pakistan.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Các phiên tòa bị trì hoãn nhiều lần vì nhiều lý do nhưng
chủ yếu là vì các thẩm phán sợ bị giết. Hai nhân vật nổi tiếng Pakistan đã
bị ám sát chết vì lên tiếng bênh vực cô là ông Shahbaz Bhatti, người Công
Giáo, Bộ Trưởng Bộ Các Nhóm Thiểu Số; và ông Salmann Taseer, người Hồi Giáo,
là Thống đốc bang Punjab.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sau nhiều lần trì hoãn, tháng 10 năm 2014, tòa án Tối cao
tại Lahore bác đơn kháng cáo của Asia Bibi và giữ nguyên án tử hình.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Tháng 11 năm đó, các luật sư Pakistan và quốc tế đưa vụ
án lên Tòa án Tối cao Pakistan. Ngày 22 tháng 7 năm 2015, trước áp lực quốc
tế, Tòa án Tối cao Pakistan truyền ngưng tử hình Bibi. Tháng 11 năm ngoái
Tòa án Tối cao Pakistan truyền cho tòa án tại Lahore xử lại. Sau nhiều lần
trì hoãn, tòa án tại Lahore tuyên bố sẽ xử vào ngày 26 tháng 3 năm nay 2016;
nhưng lại trì hoãn đến tháng 11 và nay có lẽ sẽ trì hoãn vô thời hạn. </font>

<font face="Arial">Thẩm phán Rehman nói rằng ông không thể tham gia xét xử
trường hợp Bibi vì ông đã từng tham gia trong vụ xử ông Salman Taseer, Thống
đốc Punjab bị giết sau khi ông bày tỏ sự ủng hộ cho Bibi. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Những người ủng hộ Asia Bibi nêu câu hỏi tại sao thẩm
phán Rehman chờ đợi cho đến gần ngày phiên tòa mở ra mới rút lui. Các quan
sát viên cho rằng có thể ông đã bị áp lực từ các chiến binh Hồi giáo, những
người đã nằng nặc đòi xử tử Bibi.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đối với nhiều phụ nữ ở Pakistan, khi cần phải ra khỏi
nhà, họ luôn cảm thấy khó chịu, thậm chí là sợ hãi trước những cái nhìn chằm
chằm vào thân thể họ của người khác phái, lúc nào cũng quanh quẩn đâu đó
chung quanh họ. Bên cạnh đó, còn có những lời chọc ghẹo nham nhở, thô tục
kèm theo với những tiếng cười khả ố.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Bực mình với thái độ mất lịch sự này, Anila Ansari, một
người Công Giáo sống nhiều năm tại Anh đang điều hành một đài phát thanh tại
Pakistan đã quyết định tung ra một “chiến dịch chống những cái nhìn nham
nhở” trên chương trình phát thanh quốc gia.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ý tưởng này được kể là chưa từng có ở đất nước nơi những
giáo sĩ Hồi giáo bảo thủ luôn tỏ ra thù ghét phụ nữ và thường sẵn sàng “hợp
thức hóa” các hành vi bạo lực chống lại các phụ nữ Kitô.</font></p>
