<font face="Arial">WHĐ (11.07.2016) – Thứ Bảy 09 tháng Bảy vừa qua, tại
Karachi (thủ đô Pakistan), đã diễn ra lễ an táng ông Abdul Sattar Edhi,
người được dân chúng tôn kính như một vị “thánh sống” và được mệnh danh “Mẹ
Têrêsa của Pakistan”. Hơn một vạn người đã tham dự lễ tang cấp quốc gia dành
cho nhà hoạt động nhân đạo nổi tiếng này.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ông Edhi từ trần ngày 08 tháng Bảy, thọ 88 tuổi, tại một
bệnh viện ở Karachi. Nghe tin ông qua đời, cả đất nước Pakistan với 190
triệu dân đã bày tỏ niềm tôn kính và tiếc thương một con người đã sống tinh
thần phục vụ vượt trên mọi chia cắt xã hội, chủng tộc và tôn giáo. Trong hơn
60 năm hoạt động, tổ chức từ thiện mang tên ông, Edhi Foundation (được thành
lập năm 1951), đã mở được nhiều phòng khám bệnh, nhà nuôi trẻ mồ côi khắp
đất nước Pakistan, đồng thời điều hành cả một đoàn xe cứu thương hùng hậu,
mang lại sự trợ giúp cho các cộng đồng dân cư nghèo khổ không được hưởng các
dịch vụ y tế công cộng và phúc lợi vốn mang tính chất bất bình đẳng.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Tại tang lễ, cha Saleh Diego, Tổng đại diện Tổng giáo
phận Karachi, đã đặt vòng hoa đại diện Giáo hội Công giáo kính viếng ông
Abdul Sattar Edhi. Cha thuật lại ngài đã đến bệnh viện thăm ông Edhi: “Ông
rất vui mừng được gặp chúng tôi. Chúng tôi và gia đình ông đã cùng nhau cầu
nguyện cho ông”. Cha Diego cũng cho biết Tổng giáo phận đã tổ chức những
buổi canh thức cầu nguyện cho ông tại khắp các nhà thờ .</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Thủ tướng Nawaz Sharif nói Pakistan đã mất “một người
phục vụ vĩ đại của nhân loại”, đồng thời tuyên bố thứ Bảy là ngày quốc tang.
Nhiều người đã dùng mạng xã hội để bày tỏ đau buồn vì đã mất một con người
mình rất yêu mến và cái chết của ông được đánh dấu bằng 19 phát súng tiễn
biệt. Bộ trưởng ngoại giao Ấn Độ, một quốc gia thù nghịch lâu đời với
Pakistan, nói ông Edhi “là cả một tâm hồn cao quý, đã hiến trọn đời phục vụ
nhân loại”. Còn cô Malala Yousafzai, người được trao giải Nobel hoà bình trẻ
tuổi nhất (năm 2014, 17 tuổi), nói với đài BBC cô đã đề cử ông nhận giải
Nobel Hoà bình.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chào đời năm 1928 tại Gujara, Ấn Độ (thuộc Anh), ông Edhi
cùng gia đình theo Hồi giáo của mình chuyển đến sinh sống tại Pakistan năm
1947, lúc phần lục địa nhỏ này đang diễn ra cuộc chia cắt khốc liệt. Ông lập
ra tổ chức từ thiện hoàn toàn dựa trên sự đóng góp, nhắm đến những người
nghiện, phụ nữ bị đánh đập, trẻ mồ côi và người tàn tật. Ông được biết đến
vì nếp sống khổ hạnh và nổi tiếng với bộ râu trắng dài và chiếc mũ đen
truyền thống. Ông là vị anh hùng của người nghèo nhưng lại khiến một số nhà
lãnh đạo tôn giáo nổi giận vì đã từ chối dành sự ưu đãi cho người Hồi giáo
hơn người thiểu số. Ông cũng chỉ trích những nhóm Hồi giáo cực đoan tấn công
dân thường, phê phán chính quyền bất lực, tham nhũng, và lên án giới nhà
giàu lậu thuế. Năm ngoái, tổ chức nhân đạo Edhi Foundation đã đi đầu trong
