trong tuần qua là thánh lễ tuyên thánh cho Mẹ Têrêsa thành Calcutta.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Trong tiểu sử chính thức của Mẹ Têrêsa được Đức
Hồng Y Angelo Amato, là Tổng trưởng bộ Tuyên Thánh, đọc trước Đức Thánh Cha
Phanxicô trong thánh lễ tại quảng trường Thánh Phêrô lúc 10h25 sáng Chúa
Nhật, có đoạn như sau:</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">“Mặc dù, phải chịu đựng một kinh nghiệm đau đớn
của bóng tối nội tâm, Mẹ Têrêsa đã đi khắp mọi nơi, có liên quan, như Đức
Maria trong trình thuật Thăm Viếng [bà Elizabeth], để truyền bá tình yêu của
Chúa Giêsu trên khắp thế giới.”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Từ lâu, thuật ngữ “bóng tối nội tâm” nơi Mẹ
Têrêsa thường bị xuyên tạc. Nhiều diễn giải sai lầm cho rằng đó là thái độ
mang sắc thái vô thần, hoài nghi không biết Thiên Chúa có thực sự hiện hữu
hay không, khi đứng trước những đau khổ vô biên của kiếp người.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">“Bóng tối nội tâm” nơi Mẹ Têrêsa thực ra có
nghĩa là gì? Trong chương trình này, Hà Thu và Trúc Ly sẽ trình bày với quý
vị và anh chị em ý kiến của tác giả David Scott và Cha Brian Kolodiejchuk,
là cáo thỉnh viên trong án tuyên thánh này.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">David Scott là một tác giả chuyên nghiên cứu về
Mẹ Têrêsa và nữ tu Dorothy Day. Ông có nhiều bài viết được đăng trên báo
Quan Sát Viên Rôma. Ông hiện là Vice Chancellor của tổng giáo phận Los
Angeles chuyên về truyền thông của tổng giáo phận. Trong cuốn “The Love That
Made Mother Teresa”, nghĩa là “Tình yêu hình thành nên Mẹ Têrêsa”, David
Scott giải thích “bóng tối nội tâm” nơi Mẹ Têrêsa như một sự mòn mỏi trông
chờ được kết hiệp mật thiết với Chúa, một tâm tình thường thấy nơi các vị
thánh muốn được yêu mến Chúa hết linh hồn và trí khôn. Các vị cảm thấy đau
khổ vì xa cách Chúa. Ông cho biết như sau:</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Trong hơn năm mươi năm tiếp theo thị kiến và
ngất trí ban đầu, Mẹ Têrêsa chìm trong một bóng tối, một sự im lặng tàn
nhẫn. Mẹ chỉ được nghe tiếng nói của Thiên Chúa một lần nữa, và Mẹ tin rằng
các cửa trời đã đóng lại đối với Mẹ. Mẹ Têrêsa càng mong muốn có một số dấu
chỉ về sự hiện diện của Ngài, Mẹ càng thấy trống rỗng và hoang vắng.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Chúng ta luôn luôn nhìn thấy Mẹ mỉm cười. Mẹ có
một nụ cười vui tươi, tinh nghịch, như thể ẩn chứa một số chuyện khôi hài bí
mật. Đặc biệt là khi trẻ em quây quần xung quanh Mẹ, Mẹ cười rạng rỡ với
niềm vui. Trong những lúc riêng tư, Mẹ có một cảm thức hài hước nhanh chóng
bùng nổ, và đôi khi tăng gấp đôi trước những trận cười nghiêng ngả của người
xung quanh. Vì vậy, nhiều người đã từng gặp gỡ Mẹ nói rằng Mẹ là người vui
vẻ nhất mà họ từng gặp.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Bây giờ chúng ta biết rằng cuộc sống của Mẹ
giống như một địa ngục sống. Khi Mẹ tâm sự với cha linh hướng của mình vào
năm 1957: “Trong bóng tối. . . Lạy Chúa là Thiên Chúa của con, con là ai mà
Chúa bỏ con? Đứa con mà Ngài yêu thương giờ đây trở thành như là một trong
những đứa Ngài ghét nhất, là đứa đã bị Người loại bỏ không ngó tới, không
được ưu ái. Con gào lên nhưng không có ai trả lời.”</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Mẹ Têrêsa đã sống trong một sa mạc tinh thần,
hoảng sợ rằng Thiên Chúa đã từ chối Mẹ, hoặc tệ hơn, Ngài đang hiện diện
trong bóng đêm lẩn trốn Mẹ. Như thể có một công thức kỳ lạ, Mẹ càng thành
công và càng được ca tụng, thì cảm giác bị bỏ rơi càng lớn hơn và Mẹ cảm

khi Mẹ có thể nhìn thủng bóng tối vây quanh. Ánh sáng của Mẹ đã đến trong
một Thánh Lễ cầu siêu ngay sau cái chết của Đức Giáo Hoàng Piô XII, là vị
Giáo Hoàng đã cấp phép cho Mẹ rời dòng chị em Loreto và đến sống giữa những
người nghèo.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Mẹ viết: “Thỉnh thoảng đêm dài đen tối biến mất
cùng với nỗi đau lạc lỏng, cô đơn, một sự đau khổ kỳ lạ trong mười năm. Hôm
nay, linh hồn tôi tràn đầy tình yêu, với niềm vui không kể xiết, với một kết
hiệp không gián đoạn của tình yêu.”</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Bốn tuần sau, bóng tối lại buông xuống: “Ngài đã
biến mất, để lại tôi một mình.” Mẹ sống trong bóng tối này cho đến lúc kết
thúc cuộc sống trên dương thế.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Các thánh khác cũng đã nói về sự đau khổ và cảm
giác bị Chúa bỏ rơi. Trong thế kỷ thứ mười sáu, Thánh Gioan Thánh Giá mô tả
các kinh nghiệm này là “đêm tối của linh hồn.” Nhưng chúng ta khó tìm được
một vị thánh bị một bóng tối dày đặc rất dài như Mẹ Têrêsa phải chịu đựng.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Kính thưa quý vị và anh chị em,</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Trong khi đó thì cha Brian Kolodiejchuk, linh
mục dòng Thừa Sai Bác Ái Canada, là cáo thỉnh viên trong án tuyên thánh cho
Mẹ Têrêsa, đưa ra những nhận xét sau với Vatican Radio:</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">“Mẹ rất có năng khiếu ăn nói. Mẹ là người thông
minh, rất thực tế, có năng khiếu dạy học bẩm sinh, có khiếu tổ chức ... Mẹ
hát với một giọng hát tuyệt vời; Mẹ biết chơi nhiều nhạc cụ, biết làm thơ.
Mẹ có nhiều năng khiếu”.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Cha Brian nói thêm rằng Mẹ Teresa mong đợi rằng
bốn ngàn chị em dòng Thừa Sai Bác Ái biết sống tận hiến cho Chúa Giêsu và
sống một cuộc sống đơn giản: “các chị em gia nhập dòng là các bác sĩ rất
giỏi, các y tá và những người khác nữa - nhưng họ phải sống đơn giản như tất
cả các chị em khác. Và bản thân Mẹ đã làm điều đó”.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">“Mẹ che dấu đi sự thánh thiện sâu xa của mình
bởi sự đơn giản bên ngoài trong cuộc sống và thậm chí cả trong những lời nói
của mình”.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Mẹ Têrêsa đã từng nói: “Nếu tôi trở thành một vị
thánh, tôi chắc chắn sẽ là một trong những người của Bóng Tối”. Mẹ cũng tin
rằng mình sẽ “vắng mặt nơi thiên đàng.” Cha Brian giải thích như sau:</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">“Tôi nghĩ đó là tuyên ngôn của Mẹ Teresa về 'sứ
mệnh' Mẹ sẽ làm khi Mẹ ‘về nhà Chúa’, như Mẹ thường nói. Từ những lá thư mà
chúng tôi phát hiện sau khi cái chết của Mẹ, khi chúng tôi bắt đầu thu thập
các tài liệu như đã được công bố trong cuốn ‘Mẹ Teresa – Xin Chúa Hãy Đến Và
Là Ánh Sáng Của Con: các bài viết riêng tư của Thánh Calcutta’, trước sự

lượng không bao giờ cạn kiệt và tài tổ chức của Mẹ Têrêsa đã khiến tất cả
mọi người tin rằng Mẹ đã sống với những nhận thức về tình yêu an ủi của Chúa
Giêsu dành cho Mẹ .</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Tuy nhiên, cha Brian lưu ý rằng các lá thư tiết
lộ “rằng Mẹ cảm thấy không được yêu thương, và không được Chúa Giêsu mong
muốn. Mẹ cảm thấy rằng Mẹ không thể yêu Chúa Giêsu như lòng mong muốn vì
Ngài chưa từng được yêu thương - đó là một kết luận táo bạo nếu bạn đọc các
thư này một cách nghiêm túc”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Cha Brian nhớ lại khi ngài đọc một số thư này
tại nhà mẹ ở Calcutta, Ấn Độ, cho các chị em là những người biết rất rõ Mẹ
“Họ đã khóc vì họ biết rõ Mẹ và giờ đây họ biết Mẹ từng phải đau khổ thế
nào.”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Rõ ràng nhất là các lá thư Mẹ viết trực tiếp cho
Chúa Giêsu, Đấng mà Mẹ mô tả cùng Ngài sự đau đớn của mình đối với những
nghi ngờ về sức mạnh đức tin của mình và tình yêu của Chúa Giêsu đối với Mẹ

<font face="Arial" size="4">Mẹ viết: “Con sẵn sàng chịu đựng cho đến muôn
đời nếu điều này là niềm vui của Chúa hoặc nếu người khác có thể được hưởng
lợi từ điều này”</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="4">Cha Brian giải thích: “Sự cao thượng, sự vĩ đại
của linh hồn này thật to lớn: Con muốn thỏa mãn cơn khát của Chúa với từng
giọt máu mà Chúa có thể tìm thấy trong con.”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Đó là lý do các chị em đã khóc trong nhà Mẹ.
“Nếu đó không phải là tình yêu dành cho Thiên Chúa, thì còn là gì nữa?”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4"> Mẹ Têrêsa có nghĩ rằng
mình cuối cùng sẽ được tuyên thánh hay không?</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">Khi được hỏi liệu Mẹ Têrêsa có nghĩ rằng mình
cuối cùng sẽ được tuyên thánh hay không, cha Brian trả lời như sau:</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">“Tôi nghĩ rằng Mẹ là người đơn sơ và tinh khiết
nhưng Mẹ không ngu ngốc hay ngây thơ. Vì vậy, tôi nghĩ rằng Mẹ chắc chắn đã
có một cảm giác về điều đó .... Tại một cuộc họp báo, một nhà báo hỏi: ‘Vâng
Mẹ Teresa, Mẹ có biết tại sao mọi người gọi Mẹ là một vị thánh sống không?’
Và Mẹ trả lời ‘anh hay chúng ta không nên ngạc nhiên nếu anh thấy Chúa Giêsu
trong tôi bởi vì nghĩa vụ của tất cả chúng ta là nên thánh.’”</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="4">“Tôi nghĩ rằng Mẹ Têrêsa phải có một cảm thức
nào đó rằng Mẹ sẽ được tuyên thánh nhưng tôi nghĩ rằng một trong những đức
tính nổi bật khác của Mẹ là sự khiêm tốn. Mẹ là một trong những phụ nữ được
ngưỡng mộ nhất trong thế kỷ XX - không chỉ trong Giáo Hội. Từ thời Thánh
Phanxicô Assisi không ai có tiếng vang bên ngoài Giáo Hội. Tất nhiên chúng
ta có các vị thánh tuyệt vời khác nhưng có ai có được tiếng vang như thế? ..
Ngay cả trong văn hóa, bạn sẽ thấy trong một bộ phim hay một cuốn sách hoặc
một tác phẩm nào đó, có người sẽ nói, ‘Anh nghĩ tôi là ai, Mẹ Teresa à?’ Tôi
nói như thế để thấy trong văn chương, người ta đồng hóa Mẹ Teresa với lòng
tốt, lòng tốt, lòng bác ái”</font></td>
