ở Tông Điện vừa qua, Đức Phanxicô đã đọc một bài diễn văn rất hùng hồn vẽ
nên một viễn kiến tuyệt vời cho một Âu Châu Làm Mẹ, chứ không phải một Âu
Châu đang có nguy cơ trở thành bà già xấu xí, hết đường sinh nở.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trong bài diễn văn trên, ngài đưa ra một công thức gồm
“ba món” căn bản: khả năng hội nhập, khả năng đối thoại và khả năng phát
sinh. Nói cách khác, Âu Châu cần tìm lại linh hồn của mình, “vốn phát sinh
từ cuộc gặp gỡ của nhiều nền văn minh và của nhiều dân tộc”, không như lời
cảnh cáo của một trong “những cha già” của Âu Châu là Konrad Adenauer:
“Tương lai Phương Tây đang bị đe dọa không phải bởi các căng thẳng chính trị
cho bằng bởi nguy cơ của chủ nghĩa duy hợp, độc dạng hình thức về tư tưởng
và cảm quan: nói tắt, bởi toàn bộ hệ sống, bởi việc trốn chạy trách nhiệm,
chỉ quan tâm tới chính mình”. Âu châu cần dạy cho con cháu mình không phải
nghệ thuật vũ khí mà là nghệ thuật đối thoại, “chiến đấu trong cuộc chiến
gặp gỡ và thương thảo tốt đẹp”. Nhờ nghệ thuật này, chúng sẽ có khả năng
“thiết kế ra các chiến lược sống, chứ không chết, bao gồm chứ không loại trừ”.
Sau cùng, khả năng phát sinh đòi phải mang lại cho giới trẻ một tương lai,
tránh làm họ đánh mất giấc mơ của họ, cụ thể qua nhân dụng, không thể để
48.9 phần trăm người trẻ Hy Lạp thất nghiệp như hiện nay. Tóm lại, Âu Châu
phải tạo ra một chủ nghĩa nhân bản mới nhằm cổ vũ công bằng kinh tế, chào
đón người mới, tôn trọng sự sống trong mọi giai đoạn và đối thoại với mọi
người.</font></p>

Martin Schulz, của Chủ Tịch Ủy Ban Âu Châu Jean-Claude Juncker và của Chủ
Tịch Hội Đồng Âu Châu Donald Tusk. Cả ba người này cùng tham dự buổi lễ trao
giải thưởng tại Vatican và cùng phát biểu trước bài diễn văn của Đức
Phanxicô. Schultz phê phán việc các nước Âu Châu có chiều hướng xây tường
kiểu Bức Màn Sắt cách nay 25 năm, phản lại bài học lịch sử, bài học liên
đới.</font></p>

chung”. Ngài phê phán việc “các quyền lợi ích kỷ” đang “lập các hàng rào”
đây đó.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Nhận định về bài diễn văn của Đức Phanxicô, Andrea
Riccardi, sáng lập viên của Cộng Đồng Sant’Egidio, cho rằng Đức Phanxicô coi
thách đố chính tại Âu Châu ngày nay không giống Đức Bênêđíctô XVI: thách đố
này không phải là chủ nghĩa duy tục và các bất bình đối với nó, mà là việc
canh tân nền văn hóa đối thoại và hội nhập, cổ vũ “nền kinh tế xã hội” thay
cho nền kinh tế “lỏng”, một nền kinh tế có khả năng cung cấp việc làm và
niềm hy vọng, nhất là cho người mới tới và người trẻ.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Riccardi cho rằng mấy năm trước đây, “đối thoại” không
phải là nhận định hàng đầu phát sinh từ Vatican đối với Âu Châu. Thực thế,
trong các thập niên 1990 và 2000, cả Đức Gioan Phaolô II lẫn Đức Bênêđíctô
XVI đều đã phát động các chiến dịch “dữ dằn” nhằm kéo Âu Châu trở về với gốc
rễ Kitô Giáo của nó. Trong số nhiều điều, các ngài nhấn mạnh tới việc phải
có những bản tân hiếp pháp với “điều khoản nói về Thiên Chúa” hay invocatio
Dei.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đối với một số người Công Giáo Âu Châu, Đức Bênêđíctô XVI
trở thành lời kêu gọi phòng thủ, rút vào pháo đài, ngay cả trước khi ngài
lên ngôi giáo hoàng. Như việc ngài sử dụng thuật ngữ của sử gia Anh Arnold
Toynbee để nói về tư thế Kitô Giáo trong thế giới hiện nay: “thiểu số sáng

Ratzinger, ngài hô hào “Các tín hữu Kitô Giáo nên tự coi mình như một thiểu

Kitô Giáo của họ. Schuman hiện còn là ứng viên được phong thánh nữa. Và ngài
cho rằng gốc rễ này cần được “dẫn thủy nhập điền bằng nước Tin Mừng”.</font></p>

các xác tín của mình ra thực hành vào các thời điểm khi thế giới cần đến

các nhà văn hóa ưu tú của Âu Châu coi ngôi vị giáo hoàng, và Giáo Hội nói

dựng. Ngày nay, hình như gió đã đổi chiều, nhiều người trong số họ coi ngôi
