<font face="Arial">Ngay trước Lễ Giáng Sinh vừa qua, Trung Tâm Nghiên Cứu
Pew cho công bố các dữ kiện xung quanh “Việc Làm Cha Mẹ Tại Hoa Kỳ”. Theo
tài liệu này, ly dị, tái hôn và sống chung hiện đang gia tăng tại quốc gia
này. Nó cũng cho thấy sinh suất đang giảm dần tại đây.<br>
<br>
Tài liệu trên cho biết: “Vì các thay đổi trên, hiện không còn một hình thức
gia đình trổi vượt nào ở Hoa Kỳ nữa. Các cha mẹ ngày nay đang dưỡng dục con
cái trong bối cảnh càng ngày càng có những hình thức gia đình đa dạng, không
ngừng biến đổi”. Họ đưa ra các con số sau đây để chứng minh:<br>
<br>
* Năm 1960, 73% trẻ em sống với cha mẹ kết hôn trong cuộc hôn nhân đầu tiên
của họ. Ngày nay, chỉ còn 46% trẻ em sống trong hoàn cảnh này.<br>
<br>
* Hiện nay, 67% những người dưới 50 tuổi đã kết hôn vẫn sống trong cuộc hôn
nhân thứ nhất của họ. Năm 1960, tỷ lệ ấy là 83%.<br>
<br>
* Một cuộc nghiên cứu cho thấy trong thời kỳ 3 năm, 31% trẻ em dưới 6 tuổi
đã trải nghiệm một thay đổi lớn trong gia đình chúng hay trong cơ cấu gia hộ.
Sự thay đổi này có thể là cha mẹ ly dị, ly thân, kết hôn, sống chung hay tử
vong.<br>
<br>
* Một phần tư (26%) trẻ em dưới 18 tuổi hiện đang sống với cha hay mẹ đơn
chiếc, so với 9% vào năm 1960 và 22% vào năm 2000. Các trẻ em sống không có
cha hay mẹ hiện chiếm 5%; phần lớn các trẻ em này được ông bà nuôi dưỡng.<br>
<br>
* Năm 1960, chỉ có 5% sinh bên ngoài hôn nhân. Qua năm 1970, con số này tăng
gấp đôi, lên tới 11% và qua năm 2000, tới một phần ba các vụ sinh nở là do
các phụ nữ không kết hôn. Những vụ sinh ngoài hôn nhân tiếp tục gia tăng cho
tới giữa thập niên 2000, khi các vụ sinh nở của các phụ nữ không kết hôn ổn
định ở mức khoảng 40%.<br>
<br>
* Dù vẫn chỉ là một xu hướng mới có đây, việc càng ngày người ta càng ngày
càng sống chung với nhau đang gây ra những tác động gia tăng. Theo cuộc
nghiên cứu của Pew, hiện nay, 7% trẻ em đang sống với các cha mẹ sống chung
với nhau. Dù đây chỉ là con số tương đối nhỏ, nhưng một nhóm lớn hơn, ở một
lúc nào đó trong tuổi thơ của chúng, đang phải chịu ảnh hưởng của việc sống
chung.<br>
<br>
* Cuộc nghiên cứu trên cũng ước lượng rằng khoảng 39% trẻ em sẽ có một bà mẹ
ở trong mối liên hệ sống chung lúc các em 12 tuổi; và tới lúc các em 16 tuổi,
gần một nửa (46%) trẻ em sẽ có cùng một trải nghiệm mẹ sống chung này.<br>
<br>
<b>Các dị biệt về chủng tộc và sắc tộc</b><br>
<br>
Có một số dị biệt đáng kể khi cơ cấu gia đình được phân chia theo bối cảnh
sắc tộc. Nơi các phụ nữ da đen, 71% các vụ sinh nở diễn ra ở bên ngoài hôn
nhân, 53% các vụ sinh nở kiểu này đã xẩy ra với các phụ nữ nói tiếng Tây Ban
Nha. Ngược lại, chỉ có 29% các vụ sinh nở ngoài hôn nhân diễn ra với các phụ
nữ da trắng.<br>
<br>
Các trẻ em Á Châu phần lớn sống với cả hai cha mẹ: các em chiếm 84%, trong
đó 71% sống với cả hai cha mẹ kết hôn với nhau lần đầu.<br>
<br>
Chỉ có 13% trẻ em Á Châu sống trong các gia hộ có cha hay mẹ đơn chiếc,
trong khi 11% sống với các cha mẹ tái hôn, và chỉ có 3% ở với các cha mẹ
sống chung.<br>
<br>
Về các trẻ em da trắng, 78% đang sống với hai cha mẹ, trong đó, 52% với hai
cha mẹ kết hôn lần đầu và 19% với hai cha mẹ tái hôn; 6% có cha mẹ sống
chung. Khoảng 1 phần 5 (19%) trẻ em da trắng sống với cha hay mẹ đơn chiếc.<br>
<br>
Về các trẻ em nói tiếng Tây Ban Nha, khoảng 2 phần 3 sống với hai cha mẹ.
Trong số này, 43% sống với hai cha mẹ kết hôn lần đầu trong khi 12% sống với
hai cha mẹ tái hôn, và 11% ở với cha mẹ sống chung. Khoảng 29% trẻ em nói
tiếng Tây Ban Nha sống với cha hay mẹ đơn chiếc.<br>
<br>
Tình huống các trẻ em da đen tương phản khá lớn so với các nhóm chủng tộc và
sắc tộc lớn khác. Đa số, khoảng 54%, sống với cha hay mẹ đơn chiếc. Chỉ có
38% sống với hai cha mẹ, trong đó 22% sống với hai cha mẹ kết hôn lần đầu.
Khoảng 9% sống với các cha mẹ tái hôn, và 7% cư ngụ với cha mẹ sống chung.<br>
<br>
<b>Giáo dục và gia đình</b><br>
<br>
Một ảnh hưởng lớn lao nữa đối với cơ cấu gia đình là trình độ thành đạt về
giáo dục. Các trẻ em nào có ít nhất cha hay mẹ học cao đẳng thì phần lớn
sống trong các gia hộ có cả hai cha mẹ, và sống trong các gia hộ có hai cha
mẹ kết hôn lần đầu, hơn là các trẻ em có cha mẹ ít được học hơn.<br>
<br>
88% trẻ em có ít nhất cha hay mẹ đậu cử nhân hay cao hơn sống trong các gia
hộ có hai cha mẹ, trong đó 67% sống với hai cha mẹ kết hôn lần đầu.<br>
<br>
Trong khi đó, khoảng 68% trẻ em có cha hay mẹ có chút kinh nghiệm cao đẳng
sống trong các gia hộ có hai cha mẹ, và chỉ có 40% sống với hai cha mẹ kết
hôn lần đầu.<br>
<br>
