<font face="Arial">Cư dân Bắc Kinh đã phải trải qua một mùa Giáng sinh với
một bầu trời ô nhiễm khói nặng đến mức chính quyền phải ban hành một cảnh
báo đề nghị hạn chế việc ra đường. Trưa ngày 24 tháng 12, chỉ số ô nhiễm
không khí tại thủ đô Bắc Kinh đạt đến 500 là mức ô nhiễm không khí cao nhất.<br>

Trẻ em và người già được khuyên nên ở trong nhà, và tất cả các hoạt động
ngoài trời phải giảm đến mức tối thiểu.<br>

Tuy nhiên, các nhà thờ vẫn đầy các tín hữu đến dự lễ.<br>

Thượng Hải và nhiều vùng tại châu thổ sông Dương Tử cũng bị bao phủ bởi
sương mù. Nhưng mức ô nhiễm được xem là nhẹ hơn. Chỉ số ô nhiễm không khí
tại Thượng Hải là 255, mức coi là bị ô nhiễm nặng, lúc 12 giờ trưa ngày 24
tháng 12.<br>

Trong một động thái bất thường hôm thứ Năm 24 tháng 12, Mỹ, Pháp, Anh, và Úc
đã cảnh báo các công dân của mình đang có mặt tại Bắc Kinh hãy cẩn thận đề
phòng nguy cơ khủng bố. Đại sứ quán Mỹ cho biết trong một tuyên bố ngắn gọn
rằng họ đã “nhận được thông tin về các mối đe dọa có thể” xảy ra tại khu vực
Sanlitun, nơi có nhiều đại sứ quán nước ngoài, xung quanh ngày Giáng sinh.<br>

Phát ngôn viên Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc cho biết họ đã nhận được các báo cáo.
Người phát ngôn bộ Ngoại Giao Trung quốc là Hong Lei nói: “Chúng tôi đã nhận
được các báo cáo có liên quan. Xin vui lòng tham khảo thêm với các cơ quan
hữu quan của chính phủ Trung Quốc để có các thông tin chi tiết. Các cơ quan
hữu quan của Trung Quốc đã luôn luôn chú trọng đến công tác an sinh xã hội,
và không bỏ qua một nỗ lực nào trong việc bảo vệ sự an toàn của công dân
Trung Quốc và người nước ngoài”.<br>

Chính thức mà nói, Trung Quốc là một quốc gia vô thần. Do đó, Giáng sinh
không phải là một ngày nghỉ lễ tại quốc gia này.</font></td>
