<font face="Arial">Ngày thứ sáu 18-12-2015, Đức Phanxicô công nhận “phép lạ”
của Mẹ Têrêxa, và như thế thủ tục phong thánh cho Mẹ sẽ tiến hành, dự trù Mẹ
sẽ được phong thánh vào tháng 9-2016. Mẹ chết năm 1997 và được Đức
Gioan-Phaolô II phong chân phước năm 2003, Mẹ để lại một di sản thiêng liêng
nguyên vẹn, được đánh dấu bởi “niềm vui” và cũng nghịch lý thay, bởi thử
thách của “đêm tối đức tin.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Bí ẩn được giữ kín lâu ngày… Nhưng Mẹ Têrêxa, người mà
Đức Phanxicô sẽ phong thánh vào tháng 9 sắp tới, đã sống suốt đời như thử
mình không có đức tin! Mẹ là bạn của người nghèo, của các giáo hoàng, Mẹ
được nhiều người biết đến và trong hàng chục năm trời Mẹ đã không cảm nhận
mình thấy sự “hiện diện của Chúa”. Nghịch lý thay, đó là một dạng đức tin ở
tình trạng nguyên thuần, vì Mẹ tin ở Chúa chắc như đinh đóng cột nhưng lại
không thấy có một dấu hiệu gì bên trong… Một hiện tượng thường thấy ở nhiều
vị thánh mà các nhà thần học gọi là “đêm tối đức tin”. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Và vì người phụ nữ nhỏ nhắn này có cá tính của một nhà
sáng lập, có nghĩa là một người đỡ đầu – sắp tới Mẹ là một thánh bổn mạng -,
Mẹ cấm không cho cha giải tội và những người ở gần Mẹ tiết lộ bí mật về sự
câm lặng của tâm hồn mình. Phải chờ đến mười năm sau khi Mẹ chết (4 tháng
9-1997) thì linh mục Brian Kolodiejchuk, người phụ trách án phong thánh cho
Mẹ mới công khai nói lên điều này cho mọi người biết. Cha biện minh như sau:
“Mẹ luôn cực lực từ chối không nói về đời tư của mình vì mẹ muốn mọi chú ý
phải hướng về Chúa Giêsu chứ không hướng về Mẹ. Tuy nhiên các thư từ và các
chứng từ của Mẹ đều có trong hồ sơ phong thánh, và đó là chuyện không thể
tránh được, thử thách đêm tối thiêng liêng của Mẹ bắt đầu được biết đến.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chẳng hạn, năm 1959, Mẹ Têrêxa thảo một bài suy niệm mang
tựa đề “Trong bóng tối”. Mẹ bắt đầu bằng những chữ: “Lạy Chúa, Thiên Chúa
của con, con là ai mà bị Chúa bỏ rơi?” Và xa hơn một chút: “Đức tin của tôi
ở đâu? Dù ở trong tận sâu thẳm đáy lòng tôi, tôi chẳng thấy gì ngoại trừ sự
trống rỗng và bóng tối dày đặc.” Linh mục Kolodiejchuk, người đã ở gần bên
Mẹ trong vòng hai mươi năm, giải thích: “Đêm tối đức tin bắt đầu làm cho Mẹ
quay cuồng từ khi Mẹ thành lập Dòng và khi bắt đầu lo cho người nghèo. Nhưng
đừng quên là năm 1946 và 1947 Mẹ đã sống kết hiệp với Chúa Giêsu mà một linh
mục tháp tùng Mẹ đã cho đó là một sự “kết hiệp sâu đậm, liên tục và mãnh
liệt”. Ngược lại trong bóng đen nội tâm này, Mẹ đã cảm nhận một cảm nhận mất
mát, cảm nhận không được yêu thương, cảm nhận bị ruồng bỏ, dù sao thì Mẹ cảm
thấy mình ở trong tình trạng cô đơn cùng cực, lại càng đau khổ hơn khi Mẹ
cảm thấy mình có một khao khát Chúa Giêsu rất nồng cháy.” Trong ngôn ngữ
thần nghiệm, cha giải thích thêm: “Mẹ sống tình huống này như tham gia vào
những đau đớn cùng cực Chúa Giêsu đã chịu trong vườn Giếtsêmani, Chúa Giêsu
cảm thấy mình bị bỏ rơi trước khi Ngài chịu thương khó.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Linh mục người Ý Francesco Follo đã biết Mẹ rất rõ khi

thường trực của Tòa Thánh ở Liên Hiệp Quốc, cha giải thích: “Trong vòng hai
mươi năm, tôi lo cho một trong các cộng đoàn của Mẹ. Khi tôi dâng lễ, tất cả
mọi người ở đó đều đến dự vì ai cũng muốn đến gặp Mẹ, nhìn Mẹ. Nhưng Mẹ nhìn
chăm vào bàn thờ và nhà tạm. Đức tin của Mẹ rất vững mạnh. Như thế đừng nghĩ
sai về ‘đêm tối đức tin’ này. Tất cả các thánh lớn đều trải nghiệm chuyện
này: Thánh Têrêxa Hài Đồng Giêsu, thánh Gioan Thánh giá, thánh Phanxicô
Axixi, thánh Gioan-Maria Vianney và cả thánh Phaolô. Đó là thử thách của
thanh tẩy, một sự khô khan tâm hồn mà Chúa bảo vệ để họ khỏi bị kiêu ngạo và
ích kỷ. Như vậy, đừng nghĩ sai về trải nghiệm này, cho rằng Mẹ Têrêxa đã
sống một cuộc đời ngược với ý muốn của mình. Tôi có thể khẳng định với anh
chị em, Mẹ Têrêxa trải qua đêm tối đức tin nhưng Mẹ không bao giờ nghi ngờ
về Chúa Kitô và đức tin của mình.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Giám chức vui tính này đã xuất bản hai quyển sách về
đường lối thiêng liêng của Mẹ Têrêxa, quyển 15 Ngày Cầu nguyện với Mẹ Têrêxa,
nhà xuất bản Đô thị Mới (Nouvelle Cité), và quyển Mẹ Têrêxa, Quyển sách cầu
nguyện của tôi, nhà xuất bản Lời và Thinh lặng (Parole et Silence). Cha giải
thích: “Điều luôn làm tôi ngạc nhiên nơi Mẹ, đó là niềm vui của Mẹ. Mẹ không
có gì tỏ ra là thê thảm! Mẹ gieo niềm vui bất cứ nơi nào Mẹ đi qua, nhất một
bà Mẹ đầy lòng yêu thương. Ba chữ tiếng Anh luôn ở đầu môi của Mẹ:
“cheerfulness”, “total surrender” và nhất là “loving trust”. Hân hoan vui vẻ,
hoàn toàn phó thác vào Chúa, yêu thương trong tin tưởng. Cha bị đánh động
bởi câu: “Đừng để bất sứ một sự u sầu ủ dột nào lớn quá để quên đi Chúa Kitô
đã Phục Sinh.” Câu nói này là thuốc giải độc cho tính rầu rỉ và đã hướng dẫn
Mẹ Têrêxa suốt đời.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Mẹ Têrêxa không phải là người ở trên mây, Mẹ chọn tên
Têrêxa vì tình nghĩa thiêng liêng với Thánh Têrêxa Hài Đồng Giêsu. Cha kể
một kỷ niệm mà cha nhớ mãi, kỷ niệm nói lên con đường thiêng liêng của người
có đôi chân bám chặt vào đất: “Khi Mẹ đi thăm một trong các cộng đoàn của
mình, việc đầu tiên là Mẹ đến chào Chúa Giêsu trong nhà nguyện, sau đó Mẹ
đến ngồi ở một góc trong phòng họp chung của cộng đoàn, nói chuyện với chị
bề trên và để biết tình hình… tài chánh của cộng đoàn!”. Các nữ tu ở đây ngủ
phòng ngủ chung, họ không có phòng ngủ riêng và sống hoàn toàn nhờ từ thiện. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đây là hiện thân của một vị thánh, đến mức mà trong lần
đi Albania quê hương của Mẹ vào tháng 9 năm 2014, Đức Phanxicô đã tuyên bố:
“Tôi sợ nếu bề trên của tôi là Mẹ Têrêxa!” Đức Phanxicô thích nói đùa và
Ngài hay nói đùa, nhưng Ngài nói đúng cá tính mạnh mẽ của Mẹ, người không
bao giờ sợ rao giảng ngược dòng, đặc biệt là về việc phá thai. “Tôi ngưỡng
phục sức mạnh, quyết định của Mẹ trong các việc Mẹ can thiệp, Mẹ nói những
gì Mẹ muốn nói, Đức Phanxicô thổ lộ ngày hôm đó.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ngày 23 tháng 5-1997, ba tháng trước khi chết, Mẹ có một
buổi phỏng vấn với báo L’Osservatore Romano, đó là một trong các buổi phỏng
vấn hiếm hoi của Mẹ: “Tôi xin các cô muốn phá thai cứ sinh con ra, sau đó
thì cho tôi xin đứa con”, chính xác Mẹ nói: “Chúng tôi lo cho những người
nghèo nhất, những người bị xã hội bỏ rơi, vì nơi họ có Chúa Kitô. Căn bệnh
đích thực không phải là bệnh thể xác nhưng là bệnh về mặt tinh thần. Tai
ương khủng khiếp nhất trong các tai ương không phải là chiến tranh nhưng là
sống không có Chúa. Nếu không có Chúa, thì cái gì cũng làm được. Nếu luật
cho phép phá thai và trợ tử thì tại sao chúng ta lại ngạc nhiên khi có chiến
tranh.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ngày 17 tháng 10-1979, Mẹ nhận giải Nobel Hòa bình, Mẹ
nhận “nhân danh người nghèo” và Mẹ đã hiến tặng toàn bộ số tiền được giải
cho người nghèo. Trước máy vi âm và máy quay phim toàn cầu, Mẹ không ngần
ngại tuyên bố: “Ngày nay, chúng ta giết hàng triệu em bé chưa sinh và chúng
ta không nói gì. Chúng ta cầu nguyện để tất cả chúng ta có can đảm bảo vệ em
bé chưa sinh và để cho trẻ con có được khả năng yêu thương và được yêu
thương.” </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Một lãnh vực chiến đấu rất mênh mông khác trong cuộc đời
của Mẹ là lãnh vực chiến đấu cho những người nghèo nhất, nhất là những người
đang chờ chết ở các nhà chờ chết ở Calcutta, nơi Mẹ an nghỉ. Nhưng lãnh vực
chiến đấu này cũng trải rộng ra khắp nơi trên thế giới, vì bây giờ Dòng
Truyền giáo Bác ái do Mẹ sáng lập đã có hơn 3 000 nữ tu, 500 sư huynh ở 710
cộng đoàn trên 133 nước. Dòng của Mẹ được biết đến qua áo dòng màu xanh da
trời để vinh danh Đức Trinh Nữ Maria. Các cộng đoàn này thường có cơ sở ở
gần những người bị ruồng bỏ, những người ở tận cùng thanh cấp của xã hội,
những người người không đáng kể dưới mắt người khác. Và đó là đặc sủng đã
làm cho nữ tu giáo viên trẻ 36 tuổi có cảm hứng khi bà thành lập Dòng theo
“tiếng gọi thứ nhì của Chúa Kitô” để lo cho người nghèo. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Và thật lạ kỳ, Mẹ gặp nhiều chống đối nhất trên hai việc:
phá thai và người nghèo. Mẹ chết năm 87 tuổi, Mẹ được cả thế giới biết đến
kể cả những người ở ngoài công giáo, 300 triệu người Ấn Độ theo dõi quốc
táng của Mẹ trên đài truyền hình. Tháng 10 năm 2003, 300 000 người đã đến
Rôma trong dịp Đức Gioan-Phaolô II phong chân phước cho Mẹ, Đức Gioan-Phaolô
II là người rất gần gũi với Mẹ. Vậy mà tại Ấn Độ, các phong trào theo chủ
nghĩa dân tộc Hinđu kết án Mẹ “chiêu dụ người nghèo theo đạo” và ở một vài
môi trường Phương Tây, họ kết án Mẹ chống sự giải phóng phụ nữ. Tháng 2 năm
2015, Hội đồng Giám mục Ấn Độ đã phải bẻ lại ông Mohan Bhagwat, lãnh đạo tổ
chức theo chủ nghĩa dân tộc: “Để trả lời cho câu hỏi động lực nào thúc đẩy
Mẹ Têrêxa làm việc cho người nghèo và cho người đau khổ một cách có hiệu quả
như vậy, Mẹ luôn trả lời là Mẹ giúp người hinđu được thành một người hinđu
tốt hơn, người hồi giáo thành một người hồi giáo tốt hơn, người Kitô giáo
thành một người Kitô giáo tốt hơn, trong sự tôn trọng nhân phẩm của mỗi
người.”</font></p>
