Phòng Báo Chí Tòa Thánh, cho biết ông Domenico Giani, tư lệnh lực lượng hiến
binh Vatican, chịu trách nhiệm bảo vệ an ninh cho Đức Giáo Hoàng trong các
cuộc tông du hải ngoại đã đến châu Phi trước Đức Thánh Cha để kiểm tra lần
cuối cùng các biện pháp an ninh tại đây. Ông sẽ đặc biệt cảnh giác với các
vấn đề tại Cộng hòa Trung Phi, nơi tình trạng bạo động đổ máu vẫn đang diễn
ra trầm trọng đến mức gây ra những quan ngại sâu xa cho an ninh của Đức Giáo
Hoàng. Chỉ riêng trong tuần qua đã có 22 người bị thiệt mạng trong các cuộc

<font face="Arial">Pháp có một lực lượng, tên là Sangaris, gồm 900 binh sĩ
đang có mặt tại Cộng hòa Trung Phi nhằm hỗ trợ cho 12 ngàn binh sĩ thuộc đạo
quân Minusca của Liên Hiệp Quốc. Quan điểm của Bộ quốc phòng Pháp là chỉ có
cảnh sát và quân đội của nước sở tại mới có khả năng thu thập được những tin
tình báo thiết yếu cho việc bảo vệ các cuộc tụ tập đông người. Tuy nhiên,
quân đội và cảnh sát Cộng hòa Trung Phi chưa được hoàn toàn tái lập. Trong
tư cách là quân đội ngoại bang đóng trên đất Trung Phi, quân Pháp và quân
Liên Hiệp Quốc không có khả năng bảo đảm an ninh cho các yếu nhân và cho sự
di chuyển của đám đông dân chúng đông đảo các tín hữu Trung Phi và những
người đến từ các nước lân cận như Cameroon, Congo Brazaville.. trên những
con đường không được an toàn. Lực lượng Pháp có thể bảo đảm an ninh tại phi
trường và di tản các giới chính quyền và giáo quyền trong trường hợp xảy ra
