<font face="Arial">Hôm thứ Tư 30 tháng 9, không quân Nga đã bất ngờ mở các
cuộc không kích mà họ cho là nhắm vào các lực lượng của quân khủng bố Hồi
Giáo IS. Nhà lãnh đạo hàng đầu của Giáo Hội Chính Thống Nga là Đức Thượng
Phụ Kirill của Tòa Thượng Phụ Mạc Tư Khoa đã nhanh chóng lên tiếng ủng hộ sự
can thiệp quân sự của Nga tại Syria.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 0"><b>

<font face="Arial">“Liên bang Nga đã thực hiện một quyết định có trách nhiệm
về việc sử dụng các lực lượng vũ trang nhằm bảo vệ người dân Syria khỏi
những thống khổ gây ra bởi sự tùy tiện của những kẻ khủng bố. Chúng tôi tin
rằng quyết định này sẽ sớm mang lại hòa bình và công lý cho vùng đất cổ xưa
này.”</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">“Chúng tôi cầu nguyện cho cuộc xung đột địa phương thê
thảm này không phát triển thành một cuộc chiến tranh lớn hơn nữa, xin cho
việc sử dụng vũ lực này không dẫn đến cái chết của thường dân vô tội, và cho
tất cả quân nhân Nga trở về an toàn”.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trong cuộc phỏng vấn dành cho thông tấn xã Fides của Bộ
Truyền Giảng Tin Mừng Cho Các Dân Tộc hôm 2 tháng 10, Đức Tổng Giám Mục
Jacques Behnan Hindo của tổng giáo phận Hassaké, Syria cũng lên tiếng ủng hộ
can thiệp của người Nga. </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Ngài nói: “Các cuộc tấn công của không quân Nga gần đây
đã buộc các lực lượng Hồi giáo phải rút lui. Can thiệp của Mạc Tư Khoa đang

nhà lãnh đạo của Tòa Thượng Phụ Mạc Tư Khoa tuyên bố rằng cuộc chiến của Nga
tại Syria là một cuộc “thánh chiến”, Đức Tổng Giám Mục Jacques Behnan Hindo
nói với thông tấn xã Fides của Bộ Truyền Giảng Tin Mừng Cho Các Dân Tộc rằng
“thật là ngu xuẩn khi mô tả can thiệp quân sự của Nga là một cuộc thánh
chiến”.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Ngài nói thêm với Fides rằng khái niệm về một “cuộc thánh
chiến” là một trong những khái niệm nguy hiểm chết người, được đưa ra bởi
các giáo sĩ “không hề sống ở Trung Đông.” Ngài cảnh báo chống lại việc khai
thác có tính cách ý thức hệ những đau khổ các Kitô hữu phải chịu đựng của
trong khu vực.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Tổng Giám Mục chỉ ra rằng những kẻ cực đoan Hồi giáo

chúng ta cũng dùng một diễn đạt tương tự như thế, chúng ta mặc nhiên xác
nhận ý thức hệ đẫm máu của họ: nếu thực sự đang có một cuộc thánh chiến đang
diễn ra, bọn khủng bố có thể biện minh mạnh hơn cho mỗi tội ác chúng gây ra
cho các Kitô hữu ở đây.”</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Thượng Phụ Bácthôlômêô đã thường xuyên tranh cãi
trong những năm gần đây với các nhà lãnh đạo của Tòa Thượng Phụ Mạc Tư Khoa
về mối quan hệ quá khắn khít với nhà cầm quyền Điện Cẩm Linh. </font></p>

<font face="Arial">Một đoạn trong diễn từ của ngài hôm 29 tháng 8 vừa qua
trước 140 Giám Mục Chính Thống tại Istanbul, Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ, rõ ràng là nhằm chỉ
trích các lãnh đạo Chính thống Nga khi ngài phê phán rằng trong Giáo Hội
Chính Thống có các thể chế “duy trì một mối quan hệ mật thiết với nhà nước
nhằm tận hưởng những hỗ trợ tài chính dồi dào,” và thúc đẩy các lợi ích
chính trị của quốc gia mình.</font></td>
