<font face="Arial">Chân Phước Vincenzo Grossi sinh tại Pizzighettone
(Cremona), vào ngày 09 Tháng Ba, 1845, là con áp út của một gia đình giàu có
về đức tin và các giá trị nhân bản. Sau khi được đón nhận Chúa Giêsu lần đầu
tiên trong bí tích Thánh Thể, cậu thanh niên trẻ Vincenzo bày tỏ ý định muốn
gia nhập chủng viện, vì bị thu hút bởi ơn gọi linh mục.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Vì những lý do gia cảnh, ngài đã bị buộc phải hoãn kế
hoạch của mình để lao động trong nhà máy của cha mình, kết hợp việc này với
lòng say mê học hỏi. Ngài đã làm tất cả điều này với lòng kiên quyết và hân
hoan, chờ đợi "thời khắc của Chúa". Cuối cùng, ngài được nhận vào chủng viện
ngày 04 Tháng 11 năm 1864 và được thụ phong linh mục ngày 22 tháng 5 năm
1869.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sau nhiều kinh nghiệm mục vụ ban đầu, ngài được bổ nhiệm
làm chánh xứ Regona (một quận trong tỉnh nhà Pizzighettone) và sau đó là
chính xứ Vicobellignano (Cremona), nơi ngài tiếp tục hoạt động trong ba mươi
năm bốn năm sau đó. Chiến đấu với sự ngu dốt và nghèo nàn tiêu biểu của các
thị trấn trong miền Lombard vào cuối thế kỷ XIX, ngài đã làm việc đặc biệt
với những người trẻ, là những người mà ngài cung cấp chỗ ăn ở, giảng dạy và
đào tạo để xác nhận phẩm giá là con cái Thiên Chúa của họ.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ngài đã chọn một cuộc sống nghèo khổ và liên đới với
những người túng quẫn nhất. Sự kết hiệp với Đức Kitô, Đấng là Thượng Tế và
Chiên Con bị sát tế, là đặc trưng của sứ vụ và linh đạo của ngài, đã khiến
ngài trở nên một con người chuyên chăm cầu nguyện sâu sắc và có lòng nhiệt
thành tông đồ. Ngài nổi bật với đạo lý chính thống và lòng trung thành với
Đức Giáo Hoàng. Ngài thường rao giảng trong các thành phố khác trong một nỗ
lực nhằm xua tan sự thiếu hiểu biết về tôn giáo. Tại Vicobellignano, ngài
thể hiện một tinh thần đại kết trong quan hệ với một cộng đồng Tin Lành,
được đánh dấu bởi sự tôn trọng, sự thẳng thắn và tình yêu dành cho tất cả
mọi người.</font></p>
