tại cuộc họp báo hàng ngày của Thượng Hội Đồng về Gia Đình, ba vị giáo phẩm
đã đề cập tới các vấn đề của Phi Châu và Trung Đông. Các ngài nói rằng
Thượng Hội Đồng có tính hoàn vũ và Phi Châu cũng như Tây Phương đều có chung
những vấn đề tương tự nhau.</font></p>

Ghana, cho hay: thế giới cần kiên nhẫn với Phi Châu khi đụng tới việc đối
phó với các vấn đề như đồng tính luyến ái. Ngài nói: “qúy vị hãy cho các
quốc gia này thời gian để đương đầu với các vấn đề phát sinh từ các quan
điểm văn hóa của riêng chúng tôi”. Theo ngài, phẩm giá và các quyền lợi của
con cái nam nữ Thiên Chúa đều cần được bảo vệ.</font></p>

vào hôm thứ Năm. Đức Tổng Giám Mục Edoardo Menchelli của Ancona-Osimo,
Italy, nói trong cuộc họp báo này rằng cuộc thảo luận trong nhóm của ngài
rất cởi mở và thân ái, tuy có nhiều ý kiến khác nhau giữa các nghị phụ. Theo
ngài, các giám mục đang thảo luận về phần thứ nhất của Tài Liệu Làm Việc nói

Trung Đông đang trải nghiệm điều ngược lại với Phi Châu nơi con số tín hữu
gia tăng đều đặn. Ở Trung Đông, con số tín hữu mỗi ngày một giảm thêm vì
người trẻ và các gia đình muốn “thoát khỏi hỏa ngục” – họ đang chịu bách hại
trong các tình thế bi đát tại các nơi như Iraq và Syria. Ngài nói rằng Giáo
Hội ở trong vùng cảm thấy bất lực và lấy làm tiếc là đã không thể thuyết
phục giới trẻ ở lại những nơi mà Kitô Giáo đã được khai sinh.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Tổng Giám Mục Palmer-Buckley nói rằng các giáo phẩm
Phi Châu không phong tỏa các vấn đề, như việc cho phép người ly dị và tái
hôn rước lễ cũng như nhậy cảm hơn với những người đồng tính. Theo ngài, Giáo
Hội Phi Châu hiện diện tại Thượng Hội Đồng để trình bầy cảm nhận của mình
đối với các vấn đề này và việc thực hành mục vụ của Giáo Hội. Ngài nói:
“chúng tôi ở đây để chia sẻ các quan điểm của chúng tôi, chúng tôi thừa nhận
giáo huấn của Giáo Hội. Các đại biểu Phi Châu tôn trọng những điều Đức Hồng
Y Erdo tôn trọng và trình bầy cho chúng tôi”. Ngài nói thế có ý ám chỉ bản
Tường Trình của Đức Hồng Y Erdo ở phiên họp đầu tiên của Thượng Hội Đồng.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Tổng Giám Mục Menchelli nói rằng nói về vai trò phụ
nữ trong Giáo Hội và đồng tính luyến ái không ra ngoài ngữ cảnh của Thượng
Hội Đồng. Theo ngài, khi xem xét sứ mệnh và ơn gọi của gia đình, bạn sẽ hiểu
rằng một người anh em đồng tính, chẳng hạn, vẫn là thành phần của gia đình
và có ảnh hưởng đối với mọi thành viên khác của gia đình. Ngài cho hay: vai
trò mục vụ của phụ nữ cũng quan trọng không kém nhưng việc phong chức cho
các nữ phó tế gây ra nhiều quan ngại về bí tích và thần học cần được nghiên

thấy việc Thượng Hội Đồng có tính Tây Phương đến nỗi phương hại tới Phi
Châu. Các ngài nhất trí rằng Thượng Hội Đồng có tính hoàn vũ trong cách tiếp
cận của mình. Đức Tổng Giám Mục Palmer-Buckle nói rằng các quan tâm của Giáo
Hội Âu Châu cũng là các quan tâm của Phi Châu và ngược lại. Ngài nói thêm:
“Mọi điều tốt lành ở Phi Châu không đủ tốt đối với giới truyền thông Âu Châu
nhưng bất cứ điều gì đen cũng đều đủ tốt cả”.</font></p>

Tây Phương lẫn Giáo Hội Phi Châu đều phải đương đầu với những vấn đề tương
tự. Ở Phi Châu, hôn nhân là một diễn trình lâu dài và do đó cần nhiều thời
gian: thường thường hôn nhân theo truyền thống diễn ra trước, mãi sau đó mới
là hôn nhân trong Giáo Hội. Đức Tổng Giám Mục cho biết: ở Tây Phương, người
ta hay trì hoãn hôn nhân, vì nhiều lý do khác nhau. Đây là quan tâm chung dù
nguyên nhân có khác nhau.</font></p>
