Mục về Gia Đình kỳ này có 270 vị gồm 42 nghị phụ tham dự do chức vụ. Trong
đó có 25 vị đứng đầu các cơ quan trung ương Tòa Thánh, 2 vị là Tổng thư ký
và Phó Tổng thư ký của Thượng Hội Đồng Giám Mục, 15 vị thủ lãnh các công
nghị của các Giáo Hội Công Giáo Đông phương; rồi đến 183 vị được các Giáo
Hội địa phương bầu lên, trong đó có Đức Cha Phaolô Bùi Văn Đọc, là Tổng Giám
Mục Sàigòn, Chủ tịch Hội Đồng Giám Mục Việt Nam và Đức Cha Giuse Đinh Đức
Đạo, Giám Mục Phó Xuân Lộc); bên cạnh đó còn có 45 vị do chính Đức Thánh Cha
bổ nhiệm. </font></p>

Đức Hồng Y Peter Erdo vào hôm thứ Hai có thể được coi là bài trình bầy sắc
sảo và cổ điển về giáo huấn gia đình của Giáo Hội. Tuy nhiên, như Đức Tổng
Giám Mục Paul-André Durocher, nguyên chủ tịch Hội Đồng Giám Mục Canada, từng
nói, đây chỉ là một mảnh của câu đố khó giải mà thôi. Đúng hơn, thay vì là
lời sau cùng đối với các giám mục, đây mới chỉ là một khởi điểm, để từ đó,
các nhóm nhỏ theo ngôn ngữ bắt đầu thảo luận. Chính trong khung cảnh nhỏ
hơn, nhưng nhiều tương tác hơn này, mọi tham dự viên, kể cả các giáo dân nam
nữ, kể luôn các đại biểu không phải là Công Giáo, có thể chia sẻ cung cách
duy trì giáo huấn Giáo Hội trong khi vẫn tiếp xúc được với đời sống thực của
người ta. Hoặc nói theo ngôn ngữ của Đức Giáo Hoàng Phanxicô: làm cách nào
trở thành một Giáo Hội biết mở rộng cửa, không dính chặt vào phòng áo lễ mà

<font face="Arial">Về ngữ vựng, rất nhiều diễn giả đã nói về việc sử dụng
những ngôn từ không làm những người đang khát khao được nghe lời Chúa cảm
thấy xa lạ. Một vài tham dự viên cảnh cáo cách mạnh mẽ chống thứ ngôn ngữ
loại trừ, nhất là khi nói về những người đang sống trong các cuộc hôn nhân
thứ hai hay trong các liên hệ đồng tính. Dù ta dễ nhất trí đối với việc sử
dụng ngôn từ nhậy cảm và bao gồm để nói về các nạn nhân của bạo lực, về
người nghèo hay những người bị hắt hủi khác, ta vẫn chưa tìm được sự đồng
thuận đối với ngôn từ được dùng để mô tả những người đồng tính, coi họ như
thành phần của chính gia đình ta, như anh chị em của chính ta.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Bạo lực chống phụ nữ cũng là một chủ đề nóng bỏng khác
được một số nghị phụ Thượng Hội Đồng nêu lên. Một trong các vị này trưng dẫn
những con số thống kê khiến ta giật mình, cho thấy tới một phần ba phụ nữ
trên thế giới đang là nạn nhân của bạo hành trong gia đình. Ngài kêu gọi
Thượng Hội Đồng dùng những lời lẽ mạnh mẽ nhất để nhấn mạnh rằng không bao
giờ được dùng Thánh Kinh để biện minh cho việc thống trị của đàn ông hay cho
việc bạo hành đối với phụ nữ. Ngài cũng đề nghị rằng Giáo Hội nên chứng tỏ
là mình nghiêm túc trong việc khai mở một vai trò lớn hơn cho phụ nữ trong
Giáo Hội và tại các Giáo Hội địa phương hay trong việc cho phép các giáo dân
nam nữ được giảng trong các Thánh Lễ, làm nổi bật sự thống nhất giữa lời
Chúa và cuộc sống hàng ngày của họ. </font></p>
