<font face="Arial">Tiên tri Isaia đã mô tả Người Tôi Tớ Thiên Chúa (53:
10-11) và sứ mệnh cứu độ của Ngài. Người Tôi Tớ không thuộc về một dòng họ
lẫy lừng; Ngài bị khinh miệt, bị mọi người xa lánh, một người đầy những ưu
phiền. Ngài không làm những sự trọng đại hay đưa ra những bài phát biểu đáng
nhớ; thay vào đó, Ngài hoàn thành kế hoạch của Thiên Chúa qua sự khiêm tốn,
trong sự hiện diện lặng lẽ và qua những đau khổ của mình. Sứ vụ của Ngài
được thực hiện trong khổ đau, và điều này khiến Ngài thấu hiểu những ai đau
khổ, để gánh lên vai tội lỗi của những người khác và hiến mình làm lễ đền
tội cho họ. Việc từ bỏ mình, và chịu đau khổ của Người Tôi Tớ Chúa, thậm chí
cho đến chết, tỏ ra rất hiệu quả vì mang lại ơn cứu chuộc và cứu rỗi cho
nhiều người.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chúa Giêsu là Người Tôi Tớ Chúa. Cuộc sống và sự chết của
Ngài, được đánh dấu bằng một thái độ phục vụ hoàn toàn (x. Phil 2: 7), là
căn nguyên mang lại ơn cứu rỗi cho chúng ta và hoà giải nhân loại với Thiên
Chúa. Việc loan báo, là trọng tâm của Tin Mừng, làm chứng rằng cái chết và
sự sống lại của Người làm viên mãn những lời tiên tri về Người Tôi Tớ Chúa.
Thánh Marco kể với chúng ta cảnh tượng Chúa Giêsu đương đầu với hai môn đệ
Giacôbê và Gioan. Bị thúc bách bởi bà mẹ, hai ông muốn được ngồi bên hữu và
bên tả của Người trong nước Thiên Chúa (X Mc 10: 37), đòi những chỗ danh dự,
theo tầm nhìn phẩm trật của họ về Nước Trời. Viễn tượng của họ vẫn còn bị
che mờ bởi ảo ảnh của những thành đạt trần thế. Chúa Giêsu liền “phang” cú
đầu tiên vào những khái niệm ấy của các môn đệ bằng cách đề cập đến con
đường của Người trên trần thế này: “Chén mà Thầy uống, cả các con cũng sẽ
uống, nhưng còn việc ngồi bên tả hay bên hữu Thầy, không phải Thầy ban điều
ấy; điều ấy dành cho những người đã được chỉ định (câu 39-40). Với hình ảnh
của cái chén, Chúa bảo đảm với hai môn đệ là họ có thể dự phần đầy đủ vào số
phận đau khổ của Người, nhưng không bảo đảm những chỗ danh dự mà họ mưu tìm.
Câu trả lời của Người là một lời mời gọi hãy theo Người trên con đường yêu
thương và phục vụ, từ khước mọi cám dỗ trần thế muốn ngồi chỗ nhất và ra
lệnh cho người khác.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đứng trước những người tìm kiếm quyền bính và thành công,
các môn đệ được kêu gọi hãy làm ngược lại. Cho nên, Chúa cảnh giác họ: “Anh
em biết: những người được coi là thủ lãnh các dân thì dùng uy mà thống trị
dân, những người làm lớn thì lấy quyền mà cai quản dân. Nhưng giữa anh em
thì không được như vậy: ai muốn làm lớn giữa anh em thì phải làm người phục
vụ anh em” (câu 42-44). Với những lời ấy Chúa chỉ cho chúng ta thấy việc
phục vụ là cách thức thực thi quyền bính trong cộng đoàn Kitô. Ai phục vụ
người khác và không màng danh lợi, là thực thi quyền bính thực sự trong Giáo
Hội. Chúa Giêsu mời gọi chúng ta hãy thay đổi cách nhìn và vượt qua sự ham
hố quyền hành để đạt đến niềm vui phục vụ trong lặng lẽ; loại trừ ước muốn
bản năng là được thống trị người khác và thực thi nhân đức khiêm nhường.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sau khi trình bày một kiểu cách đừng nên bắt chước, Chúa
Giêsu đưa ra chính mình như lý tưởng cần noi theo. Khi noi theo Thầy, cộng
đoàn tìm được viễn tượng mới cho cuộc sống của mình: “Con Người đến không
phải để được người ta phục vụ, nhưng là để phục vụ, và hiến mạng sống làm
giá chuộc muôn người.” (câu 45). Trong truyền thống Kinh Thánh, Con Người là
Đấng lãnh nhận từ Thiên Chúa “quyền bính, vinh quang và vương quyền” (Dn
7,14). Chúa Giêsu làm cho hình ảnh ấy được tràn đầy ý nghĩa mới. Chúa chỉ ra
rằng Ngài được hưởng quyền bính vì Ngài là người tôi tớ; được hưởng vinh
quang vì có thể hạ mình xuống; và được hưởng vương quyền vì sẵn sàng thí
mạng sống mình. Qua cuộc thương khó và cái chết, Người chiếm chỗ rốt nhất,
đạt tới mức độ phục vụ cao cả nhất, và truyền lại điều đó cho Giáo Hội của
Người.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Có thể có một sự bất dung hợp giữa quan niệm của thế gian
về quyền bính và sự phục vụ khiêm nhường là đặc trưng của quyền bính theo
giáo huấn và gương của Chúa Giêsu. Tham vọng và lòng khát khao sự nghiệp
không tương hợp với tư cách là môn sinh Chúa Kitô. Vinh dự, thành công, danh
tiếng, những vẻ vang trần thế đối chọi với luận lý của Chúa Kitô chịu đóng
đinh. Trái lại có sự tương hợp giữa Chúa Giêsu, “con người đầy những ưu
phiền”, và sự đau khổ của chúng ta. Thư gửi tín hữu Do Thái làm rõ điều này
khi trình bày Chúa Kitô như vị Thượng Tế chia sẻ hoàn toàn thân phận làm
người của chúng ta trong mọi sự, ngoại trừ tội lỗi: “Vị Thượng Tế của chúng
ta không phải là Đấng không biết cảm thương những nỗi yếu hèn của ta, vì
Người đã chịu thử thách về mọi phương diện cũng như ta, nhưng không phạm
tội” (4:15). Chúa Giêsu thi hành một chức linh mục đích thực của lòng thương
xót và cảm thông. Người đã trải qua kinh nghiệm trực tiếp về những khó khăn
của chúng ta, Người biết từ bên trong thân phận phàm nhân của chúng ta; sự
kiện Người không mắc tội lỗi không ngăn cản Người thấu hiểu các tội nhân.
Vinh quang của Người không phát sinh từ tham vọng hay khao khát thống trị,
nhưng là vinh quang của Đấng yêu mến con người, đón nhận và chia sẻ yếu đuối
của họ và ban cho họ ơn thánh chữa lành, tháp tùng họ với lòng dịu dàng vô
biên giữa trăm chiều gian truân của họ.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Mỗi người chúng ta, nhờ phép rửa, thông phần vào chức
linh mục của Chúa Kitô: các tín hữu giáo dân tham gia chức linh mục chung,
các linh mục tham gia chức linh mục thừa tác. Vì thế, tất cả chúng ta đều có
thể lãnh nhận tình thương xuất phát từ con tim rộng mở của Người, cho bản
thân chúng ta cũng như cho tha nhân: chúng ta trở thành những máng chuyển
tình thương, sự cảm thông của Người, đặc biệt đối với những ai đang đau khổ,
thất vọng và cô đơn.</font></p>
