Benjamin Franklin Parkway để tham dự Đêm Canh Thức Ngày Quốc Tế Gia Đình.
Tại đây Đức Thánh Cha đã lên xe díp để chào tín hữu tụ tập dọc đại lộ mang
tên Benjamin Franklin là một trong những người cha thành lập Hoa Kỳ. Ông là
người sinh trưởng tại Philadelphia, văn sĩ, nhà vật lý nghĩ ra cột thu lôi
và kính hai tròng, chuyên viên chính trị và là chính trị gia dấn thân. Ông
đã là thống đốc tiểu bang Pensylvania và là người đã phóng thích các nô lệ
của mình. Hình của ông được in trên tờ 100 mỹ kim và có nhiều thành phố, học
viện văn hóa và cả tầu chiến cũng mang tên ông.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Cuộc gặp gỡ quốc tế các gia đình đã do thánh Gioan Phaolô
II thành lập ngày mùng 9 tháng 5 năm 1981. Đại hội này do Hội Đồng Toà Thánh
về Gia Đình tổ chức ba năm một lần tại nhiều nơi trên thế giới: lần thứ nhất
tại Roma năm 1994, lần thứ hai tại Rio de Janeiro năm 1997, lần thứ ba tại
Roma năm 2000, lần thứ tư tại Manila năm 2003, lần thứ năm tại Valencia năm
2006, lần thứ sáu tại thành Phố Mêxicô năm 2009, lần thứ bẩy tại Milano năm
2012. Đã có 1 triệu người tham dự thánh lễ bế mạc đại hội tại Milano do Đức
Giáo Hoàng Bênêđíctô thứ 16 chủ sự tại phi trường Brescia.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đại hội quốc tế các gia đình lần thứ tám đã diễn ra tại
Philadelphia trong các ngày 22-25 và có khẩu hiệu là “Tình yêu là sứ vụ của
chúng ta: gia đình sống động tràn đầy”. Mỗi ngày đều có thánh lễ, các buổi
thuyết trình và các buổi học giáo lý do nhiều Hồng Y và Giám Mục cũng như
các chuyên viên đảm trách. Đồng thời cũng có các chứng từ và nhiều sinh hoạt
khác cho nhiều lứa tuổi khác nhau.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Buổi canh thức đã là một lễ hội gia đình với ca nhạc, mầu
sắc, vũ điệu và các chứng tử. Hơi ấm, tình yêu và niềm vui của các gia đình
toàn thế giới đã được phản ánh trong sự xúc dộng và nụ cuời của Đức Thánh
Cha lắng nghe các chứng từ cuộc sống của nhiều người. Chị Amy Wall được khỏi
bệnh điếc nhờ lời bầu cử của thánh nữ Catarina Mary Drexel; các nỗi sợ hãi
và và lời hứa trong các lời nói xúc động của Camillus và Kelly sẽ cưới nhau
vào tháng 11 tới đây; Mario và Rosa người Argentina trái lại vừa mới mừng lễ
Ngọc 60 năm lấy nhau. Gianna Emanuela Molla con gái của thánh Gianna Beretta
Molla cũng hiện diện. Thế rồi còn có ông Herb Lusk cầu thủ bóng đá đầu tiên
của Hoa Kỳ. Trong các hoạt cảnh cũng có các nốt nhạc của Aretha Franklin.
Rồi còn có biết bao chứng từ niềm vui, các khó khăn và tái sinh từ Ucraina
cho tới Nigeria, từ Hoa Kỳ cho tới Giordania.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Lên tiếng ứng khẩu sau các chứng từ của các gia đình, Đức
Thánh Cha mời gọi mọi người săn sóc và bênh vực gia đình, bởi vì gia đình
chính là tương lai của chúng ta. Ngài chân thành cám ơn các gia đình đã can
đảm chia sẻ với mọi người cuộc sống của họ, và các trình diễn nghệ thuật là
các con đường đưa tới Thiên Chúa. Thiên Chúa là Chân, Thiện Mỹ. Gia đình là
do ý muốn của Thiên Chúa. Một xã hội lớn lên mạnh mẽ, xinh dẹp và chân thật
được xây dựng trên nền tảng gia đình. Đức Thánh Cha đã chia sẻ một câu hỏi
mà một trẻ em hỏi ngài:”Thiên Chúa làm gì trước khi tạo dựng thế giới?”
Trước khi tạo dựng thế giới Thiên Chúa đã yêu thương, bỏi vì Thiên Chúa là
Tình Yêu… Một tình yêu thương to lớn và lôi cuốn tạo dựng thế giới. Thế giới
là một tuyệt tác mà chúng ta đang tàn phá. Thiên Chúa đã cho con người tất
cả. Tất cả tình yêu Thiên Chúa có nơi Ngài, tất cả vẻ đẹp Thiên Chúa có
trong Ngài, tất cả sự thật Thiên Chúa có trong Ngài Ngài đã trao ban cho gia
đình. Thiên Chúa đã gửi Con Ngài tới trong một gia đình, để đồng hành với
chúng ta trong gia đình.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Thánh Cha giải thích rằng một gia đình thực sự là gia
đình khi có khả năng mở rộng đôi tay và tiếp nhận tất cả tình yêu. Vì ghen
tức với con người nên ma quỷ khiến cho con người phạm tội và chia rẽ nhau.
Và con người đánh mất đi tình yêu của Thiên Chúa. Hậu qủa là cảnh anh em
giết nhau, các chiến tranh và mọi tan vỡ khổ đau khác. Nhưng chúng ta có thể
quyết định lựa chọn con đường phải đi. Thiên Chúa không bỏ rơi chúng ta cả
sau khi Adam và Evà phản bội Ngài, Thiên Chúa đồng hành với con người tới độ
trao ban Con của Ngài cho nhân loại. Chúng ta hãy học nơi Đức Maria và Cha
Thánh Giuse biết rộng mở con tim cho Thiên Chúa và chương trình cứu độ của
Chúa và hãy là một gia đình có con tim rộng mở cho tình yêu. Đức Thánh Cha
nói thêm trong bài giảng:</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Thiên Chúa luôn luôn gõ cửa các con tim. Ngài thích làm
như thế. Ngài muốn vào trong đó. Nhưng anh chị em có biết ngài thích gì nhất
không? Ngài thích gõ cửa các gia đình, và gặp các gia đình hiệp nhất và ước
muốn tìm các gia đình khác: như thế chúng ta tạo dựng một xã hội của “chân,
thiện, mỹ”. Đối với Đức Thánh Cha gia đình có một bức thư của công dân thiên
linh và được xây dựng trên tình yêu, vẻ đẹp và sự thật.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Dĩ nhiên trong gia đình có các khó khăn, các cãi cọ, mệt
mỏi và vấn đề, nhưng gia đình luôn luôn là lò sản xuất hy vọng, sự sống lại
và sự sống, bởi vì Thiên Chúa muốn như vậy. Tiếp đến Đức Thánh Cha đề cập
tới trẻ em và người trẻ là tương lai cuả nhân loại, và tới các ông bà là ký
ức của nhân loại Chính các ngài đã trao ban và thông truyền cho chúng ta đức
tin. Săn sóc các ông bà và trẻ em là giấc mơ của tình yêu. Một dân tộc không
biết lo lắng cho trẻ em và ông bà thì không có tương lai, không có sức mạnh
và không có ký ức. Chúng ta hãy bênh vực gia đình bởi vì tương lai của chúng
ta là ở đó. Sau cùng Đức Thánh Cha khuyên các gia đình: “Đừng bao giờ kết
thúc một ngày với cãi cọ, nhưng với sự tha thứ và làm hoà.”</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sau bài giảng ứng khẩu của Đức Thánh Cha Đức Tổng Giám
Mục Chaput đã giới thiệu một tác phẩm và ba mảnh lớn của một bức tường mà
tín hữu đã làm trong suốt mùa hè có các hình vẽ và chữ ký của họ. Chúng sẽ
được dựng trước trường Thánh Malakia. Đức Thánh Cha cũng ký tên trên bức
tường này. Tiếp theo đó là phần trình diễn của danh ca Tenor Andrea
Boccelli. Trước khi ban phép lành Đức Thánh Cha đa xin Đức Mẹ và Cha Thánh
Giuse bầu cử cho các gia đình để các gia đình tin rằng chiến đâu cho gia
đình là điều đáng công.</font></p>
