<font face="Arial">Hãy luôn hân hoan trong Chúa! Tô nói lần nữa, hãy hân
hoan! Đó là những lời đáng lưu ý, những lời ảnh hưởng tới đời sống ta. Thánh
Phaolô bảo chúng ta hãy vui mừng hân hoan; nói đúng ra, ngài ra lệnh cho
chúng phải hân hoan vui mừng. Mệnh lệnh này cộng hưởng với ước nguyện của
tất cả chúng ta muốn có một cuộc sống thành toàn, một cuộc sống có ý nghĩa,
một cuộc sống hân hoan. Như thể Thánh Phaolô nghe thấy những điều mỗi người
chúng ta đang suy nghĩ trong tâm trí và nói lên những điều chúng ta đang cảm
nhận, những điều chúng ta đang trải nghiệm. Một điều gì đó rất sâu xa trong
ta đang mời gọi ta hân hoan và bảo ta đừng bằng lòng với thuốc an thần chỉ
giữ ta cảm thấy thoải mái.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Dù vậy, cùng một lúc, tất cả chúng ta đều biết có những
cuộc chiến đấu trong đời sống hàng ngày. Xem ra có rất nhiều thứ đang chặn
đường trước lời mời gọi hân hoan này. Lề thói hàng ngày của ta thường dẫn ta
tới một thứ lãnh cảm ủ rũ từ từ trở thành một tập quán, với hậu quả nguy tử
là tâm hồn ta trở nên tê cóng.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ta không muốn để lãnh cảm hướng dẫn đời ta... hay ta
muốn? Ta không muốn sức mạnh của tập quán thống trị đời ta... hay ta muốn?
Nên ta hãy tự hỏi mình: ta phải làm gì để giữ cho trái tim ta khỏi bị tê
cóng, khỏi bị gây mê? Ta phải làm thế nào để niềm vui Tin Mừng gia tăng và
bén rễ sâu hơn trong đời sống ta?</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chúa Giêsu cho ta câu trả lời. Người nói với các môn đệ
của Người lúc đó và Người nói điều ấy với chúng ta bây giờ rằng: Hãy ra đi!
Hãy công bố! Niềm vui Tin Mừng là một điều để trải nghiệm, một điều để biết
và một điều để chỉ có thể sống bằng cách cho nó đi, bằng cách tự cho mình ta
đi.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Tinh thần thế gian này bảo ta nên giống như bất cứ ai
khác, là bằng lòng với những gì dễ dãi. Đứng trước lối suy nghĩ phàm trần
này, "ta phải phhục hồi xác tín này: ta cần có nhau, ta có trách nhiệm chung
đối với nhau và đối với thế giới" (Laudato Si, 229). Đó là trách nhiệm công
bố sứ điệp của Chúa Giêsu.Vì nguồn hân hoan của ta là "ước nguyện không cùng
được tỏ lòng thương xót, vốn là hoa trái của việc ta trải nghiệm được sức
mạnh của lòng thương xót vô hạn của Chúa Cha" (Evangelii Gaudium, 24). Hãy
ra đi gặp mọi người, hãy công bố bằng cách xức dầu, và hãy xức dầu bằng cách
công bố. Đó là điều Chúa dạy ta hôm nay. Người bảo ta:</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chúa Giêsu sai các môn đệ đi khắp các quốc gia. Đến với
mọi người. Chúng ta cũng thế, chúng ta là thành phần của mọi con người ấy từ
hai ngàn năm trước đây. Chúa Giêsu không cung cấp bản tên rút ngắn liệt kê
ai xứng đáng, ai không xứng đáng tiếp nhận sứ điệp của Người, sự hiện diện
của Người. Thay vào đó, Người luôn ôm lấy sự sống khi thấy sự sống ấy. Trong
những gương mặt đau đớn, đói ăn, bệnh tật hay tội lỗi. Trong những gương mặt
thương tích, khát uống, mệt mỏi, nghi ngại và đáng thương. Không hề chờ mong
một đời sống tươi đẹp, ăn mặc bảnh bao, trang điểm sạch sẽ, Người ôm lấy bất
cứ đời sống nào khi thấy nó. Bất kể nó dơ bẩn, lôi thôi, tan nát như thế
nào. Chúa Giêsu dạy: Hãy ra đi và cho mọi người biết tin mừng. Hãy ra đi và
nhân danh Thầy ôm ấp sự sống trong tình trạng hiện hữu của nó, chứ không
phải trong tình trạng các con muốn nó phải là. Hãy ra đi tới các xa lộ và
đường vòng, hãy ra đi rao giảng tin mừng cách không sợ hãi, không thiên
kiến, không tự tôn, không thương hại, cho tất cả những ai đã đánh mất niềm
vui sống. Hãy ra đi công bố vòng tay thương xót của Chúa Cha. Hãy ra đi tới
những người đang bị đớn đau và thất bại đè nặng, những người đang cảm thấy
đời mình trống rỗng, và hãy công bố việc người ta coi là điên rồ của Chúa
Cha đầy yêu thương vẫn cứ muốn xức dầu hy vọng, dầu cứu rỗi cho họ. Hãy ra
đi công bố tin mừng này: lầm lạc, ảo giác đánh lừa và giả dối không hề có
tính quyết định trong đời một con người. Hãy ra đi với dầu thơm xoa dịu các
vết thương và chữa lành các tâm hồn.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Việc sai đi không bao giờ là thành quả của một chương
trình đã được đặt kế hoạch cách hoàn hảo hay một cẩm nang được sắp xếp đàng
hoàng. Việc sai đi luôn luôn là thành quả của một đời sống biết những điều
cần được tìm ra và chữa lành, cần được gặp gỡ và tha thứ. Việc sai đi phát
sinh từ một cảm nghiệm thường hằng về việc xức dầu đầy xót thương của Thiên
Chúa.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Giáo Hội, Dân Thánh của Thiên Chúa, luôn bước trên những
nẻo đường bụi bặm của lịch sử, rất thường được qua lại bởi tranh chấp, bất
công và bạo lực, mới mong gặp được con cái mình, anh chị em mình. Dân thánh
và tín trung của Thiên Chúa không sợ bị lạc đường; họ không sợ trở thành tự
khép kín, đông đá thành những thành phần ưu tú, chỉ muốn bám vào sự an toàn
của riêng mình. Họ biết rằng tự khép kín, trong mọi hình thức mình tiếp
nhận, là nguyên nhân tạo ra rất nhiều lãnh cảm như trên.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Do đó, ta hãy ra đi, hãy ra đi để đem đến cho mọi người
sự sống của Chúa Giêsu Kitô (Evangelii Gaudium, 49). Dân Thiên Chúa có thể
ôm lấy mọi người vì chúng ta đều là môn đệ của Đấng từng qùy xuống trước mặt
các môn đệ của Người mà rửa chân cho họ (ibid., 24).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Lý do chúng ta có mặt ở đây hôm nay là: nhiều người khác
muốn đáp lại lời kêu gọi trên. Họ tin rằng "sự sống lớn mạnh nhờ được cho
đi, và nó sẽ trở nên yếu ớt trong cô lập và êm ái" (Aparecida Document,
360). Chúng ta vốn là những người thừa hưởng tinh thần truyền giáo mạnh dạn
của không biết bao nhiêu người nam nữ từng không thích "bị khép kín trong
các cơ cấu chỉ đem lại cho ta cảm thức an toàn lầm lẫn... trong các thói
quen khiến ta cảm thấy an ổn, trong khi người ta đang chết lả ở ngay ngoài
cửa nhà mình" (Evangelii Gaudium, 49). Chúng ta mắc nợ một truyền thống, một
chuỗi chứng tá từng làm cho các tin vui của Tin Mừng trở thành vừa "tốt" vừa
"mới" đối với mọi thế hệ.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Hôm nay, chúng ta tưởng nhớ một trong các chứng tá ấy,
người đã chứng thực niềm vui Tin Mừng trên lãnh thổ này, Cha Junipero Serra.
Ngài là hiện thân của một "Giáo Hội chịu ra đi", một Giáo Hội lên đường, đem
lòng âu yếm đầy hoà giải của Thiên Chúa tới mọi nơi. Junípero Serra rời bỏ
quê hương và lối sống của ngài. Ngài phấn khởi nghĩ tới những con đường mòn
nóng rực, ra đi gặp gỡ nhiều người, học hỏi và trân quí các tập quán và lối
sống đặc thù của họ. Ngài học hỏi cách làm thế nào phát sinh và nuôi dưỡng
sự sống Thiên Chúa trên gương mặt bất cứ ai ngài gặp; ngài biến họ thành anh
chị em của ngài. Junípero tìm cách bảo vệ phẩm giá cộng đồng bản địa, che
chở nó chống lại những ai từng xử tệ và lạm dụng nó. Sự xử tệ và các tội ác
vẫn còn làm chúng ta ngày nay bối rối, nhất là vì các thương tích họ gây ra
trong đời sống nhiều người.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Cha Serra có một khẩu hiệu luôn linh hứng cho đời sống và
việc làm của ngài, một khẩu hiệu được ngài sống suốt đời, đó là: siempre
adelante! Luôn tiến lên phía trước! Đối với ngài, đây là cách thế để tiếp
tục cảm nghiệm được niềm vui Tin Mừng, để giữ cho trái tim ngài kkỏi bị tê
cóng, khỏi bị gây mê. Ngài tiếp tục tiến lên phía trước, vì Chúa đang đợi
ngài. Ngài tiếp tục bước đi, vì anh chị em ngài đang đợi ngài. Ngài tiếp tục
bước đi cho tới lúc chấm dứt cuộc đời. Hôm nay, giống như ngài, ước chi
chúng ta cũng có thể nói rằng: Hãy tiến lên phía trước! Hãy tiếp tục tiến
lên phía trước!</font></td>
