Bolivia một hiệp ước về phụ nữ đã chỉ trích mạnh quốc gia Nam Mỹ này về các
luật lệ bảo vệ sự sống thai nhi còn trong bụng mẹ. Lời chỉ trích này gây bất
mãn nơi một vị giám chức hàng đầu của Bolivia.<br>

Ủy ban về xóa bỏ phân biệt đối xử đối với phụ nữ của Liên Hợp Quốc thuộc văn
phòng cao ủy Nhân quyền Liên Hiệp Quốc nói “Quyền phá thai vẫn bị hạn chế
trong các trường hợp hiếp dâm, loạn luân hoặc khi sức khỏe của người phụ nữ
có nguy cơ.” Ủy ban này cáo buộc rằng “những hạn chế như thế dẫn đến phá
thai lậu không an toàn trong trường hợp có thai ngoài ý muốn”<br>

Nêu rõ cuộc sống con người là “thánh thiêng và bất khả xâm phạm”, Đức Tổng
Giám mục Jesús Juárez Párraga mô tả hành động của ủy ban này là một cuộc tấn
công vào chủ quyền quốc gia của Bolivia.</font></td>
