Colombia nỗ lực hướng tới một giải pháp hòa bình giữa chính phủ và phiến
quân trong lực lượng vũ trang Cách mạng Colombia, gọi tắt là FARC.<br>

Trong một thông điệp công bố ngày 14 tháng 8, Đức Giáo Hoàng kêu gọi "sự
sáng tạo và lòng dũng cảm để tìm ra những giải pháp củng cố hòa bình và công
lý." Thông điệp của ngài đã được gởi đến Đức Cha José Daniel Falla Robles,
tổng thư ký của Hội Đồng Giám Mục Colombia, trong khi chính quyền Colombia
mở phiên thứ 18 một hội nghị về hậu quả pháp lý của một hiệp ước hòa bình
với phiến quân.<br>

Đức Thánh Cha bày tỏ hy vọng rằng cuộc họp "sẽ giúp đạt đến việc xây dựng
một nền hòa bình ngày càng toàn diện và ổn định lâu dài.”</font></td>
