Benedettini, cho biết trong cuộc viếng thăm mục vụ tại Cuba từ ngày 19-9 tới
đây, ĐTC sẽ không gặp các lãnh tụ phiến quân tả phái ”Mặt trận võ trang cách
mạng Colombia”, gọi tắt là FARC.<br>

Trong những ngày trước đây, các đại diện của phiến quân FARC đã thỉnh cầu
được gặp ĐTC tại Cuba và xin Giáo Hội Công Giáo bổ nhiệm một đại biểu thường
trực tại các cuộc hòa đàm giữa chính phủ Colombia và lực lượng FARC.<br>

Từ lâu chính phủ Colombia và phiến quân FARC đã có những cuộc hòa đàm tại
Cuba, nhưng cho đến nay vẫn chưa đạt tới một hiệp định chung kết. Hôm
17-8-2015, Ông Ivan Marquez, đại diện lực lượng FARC nói với giới báo chí
rằng: ”Chúng tôi muốn nồng nhiệt chào mừng ĐGH Phanxicô và chúng tôi hy vọng
được cơ hội này”.<br>
<br>
Tuy nhiên, Cha Benedettini nói: ”Dĩ nhiên ĐGH vui mừng hoạt động cho hòa
bình và có lẽ ngài sẽ tìm một thời điểm thuận tiện hơn để bày tỏ sự hỗ trợ
của ngài đối với các cuộc hòa đàm Colombia. Tuy nhiên, không có dự trù cuộc
gặp gỡ giữa ĐGH và đại diện lực lượng FARC trong cuộc viếng thăm của ngài
tại Cuba”.<br>

Phiến quân FARC chiến đấu chống chính phủ Colombia từ 50 năm nay và cuộc
