đi công tác Legio Mariae tại đất nước Lào, chúng tôi lại có dịp chia vui với
Giáo Hội Lào nói chung, và anh chị em Legio nói riêng, về việc Đức Thánh Cha
Phanxicô phê chuẩn sắc lệnh của Bộ Phong Thánh liên quan đến việc nhìn nhận
cuộc tử đạo của 15 vị tôi tớ Chúa. (Ngày 5-6-2015,)</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Giáo Hội Lào đang cật lực chuẩn bị chu đáo để chuẩn bị
cho biến cố trọng đại này, văn phòng các tòa giám mục đang thống kê lại dân
số Công Giáo, làm niên giám các giáo xứ, danh sách tu sĩ, linh mục, các xứ
đạo đang sửa sang chỉnh đốn lại ngôi thánh đường và khuôn viên giáo xứ của
mình, nhất là quê hương và những nơi các thánh tử đạo đã từng sống và phục
vụ. Thực sự công việc truyền giáo tại Lào có công lớn của các cha thừa sai
Paris MEP & O.M.I., Dòng Hiến sĩ Đức Mẹ (The Missionary Oblates of Mary
Immaculate), các ngài đã hiện diện và để lại những dấu tích Đức Tin dũng
cảm, không chỉ bằng lời rao giảng, mà dùng máu đào để tô điểm cho giang sơn
Lào có nét đẹp như hôm nay.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ngoài lịch trình công tác, chúng tôi ghé thăm số buôn
làng Công Giáo xa xôi nhất là trong những vùng đất mà in dấu chân các thánh
tử đạo, Ta Lang, Hủa Phăn, Chăm-pa-xắc,KhămMuộn, Xiêng Khoảng, Chăm-pa-xắc,
Đen Đin, bên những giòng sông, nơi những vùng quê hiện đang nghèo nàn hẻo
lánh, các vùng núi thường nằm giáp Việt nam, Cambochia, Thái Lan và Myanma
đó là những vùng truyền giáo của các vị thừa sai.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Dân cư: Khoảng 60% dân cư là dân tộc Lào theo nghĩa hẹp,
nhóm cư dân thống lĩnh trong chính trị, văn hóa sinh sống ở các khu vực đất
thấp. Dân tộc Lào bắt nguồn từ người Thái. 8% dân cư thuộc các sắc tộc khác
ở vùng đất thấp cùng với người Lào được gọi chung là Lào Lùm. Ngôn ngữ có
thể nói tiếng Thái cùng hiểu được, nhất là miền trung Lào Savannakhet,
Thakhek họ sinh hoạt rất gần gũi với người Thái, chỉ cách con sông Mekong,
người khá giả thì đi xe qua cầu biên giới, người bình dân thì đi qua phà,
quảng 10 phút, buổi sáng họ thường qua Thái đi chợ mua thức và đồ dùng.</font></p>

Dao (Yao hay Miền), Thái đen, Shan và một ít người gốc Tây Tạng-Miến Điện,
sống tại các khu vực cô lập của Lào. Các bộ lạc vùng cao với một di sản ngôn
ngữ sắc tộc hỗn hợp ở phía bắc của Lào. Một cách tổng quát họ được biết đến
như là người Lào Sủng hay người Lào vùng cao.</font></p>

các bộ lạc thuộc sắc tộc Môn-Khmer, được biết đến như là người Lao Thơng. Có

rời khỏi đây sau khi Lào giành độc lập cuối những năm thập niên 1940 và sau

<font face="Arial">Nền văn hóa Lào chịu ảnh hưởng nặng của Phật giáo. Sự ảnh
hưởng này được phản ánh trong ngôn ngữ và, văn học và nghệ của Lào và đặc
biệt trong lối sống an vi của họ. Giao thông Lào được xem tương đối tốt, tại
các thành phố lớn, giao thông rất thuận tiện. Người Lào tại vùng thủ đô đều
sử dụng xe hơi do giá nhập khẩu rẻ, người làm công chức được cấp xe nên
lượng xe 4 bánh tại các thành phố lớn rất nhiều. Xe máy cũng nhiều, xe đạp
cũng hiếm thấy ngay tại thủ đô.</font></p>

hạnh cho Giáo Hội toàn cầu: Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô đã ký sắc lệnh nhìn nhận
rằng linh mục Joseph Thao Tien và 14 tu sĩ và giáo dân khác là những vị tử
đạo, tất nhiên là còn nhiều điều chưa thể nói ra được trong hoàn cảnh hiện
tại rất tế nhị, phải chờ đến khi đến khi lịch sử đất nước sang trang. Nhưng
tất cả là hồng ân Thiên Chúa, nhiều giọt mồ hôi, nước mắt và máu đã đổ xuống
trên cánh đồng truyền giáo này, nhiều người đã hy sinh mạng sống trong thầm
lặng, bị sát hại, bị hành hình hay chết vì kiệt sức. Họ đã chết vì đức tin
trong nhiều hoàn cảnh khác nhau. Trong số này còn có nhiều vị chưa được nhắc
đến. vì khi đến thăm các buôn làng còn được những người già làng kể lại
những mẫu chuyện hoặc nhắc nhở đến, một thời mà họ phải sống trong rừng
thiêng nước độc. Tất cả đã phải trả giá bằng mạng sống vì dấn thân phục vụ
Tin Mừng, nhiều chủ chăn quyết định ở lại với đoàn chiên của mình, bất chấp
những hiểm nguy.</font></p>
