<font face="Arial">Nữ tu Ljubica Šekerija của dòng Các Nữ Tử của Lòng Từ Bi
Chúa cho Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô biết khi chị đang điều hành một nhà dành cho
người cao tuổi và khuyết tật tại trung tâm Bosnia thì chiến tranh nổ ra. Năm
1993, những người nước ngoài có vũ trang từ các nước Ả Rập đã bắt cóc chị
cùng với một linh mục địa phương đang bị ốm và ba nhân viên cứu trợ Caritas.
Nhiều người không phải Kitô giáo sống trong thị trấn đã ùa ra hai bên đường
để hoan nghênh các chiến binh Hồi Giáo Ả rập và chế giễu chị và những người
bị bắt khi họ bị lùa lên một chiếc xe tải. Chị bị đánh đập dã man, bị đe
dọa, bị kê súng vào đầu bắt chuyển sang đạo Hồi. Khi một chiến binh cầm một
thanh kiếm dí vào chị, và bắt vị linh mục phải lấy chân dẫm lên chuỗi tràng
hạt của chị, chị đã nài nỉ ngài đừng phỉ báng một vật thánh thiêng. Chị thà
chết còn hơn. Chị cũng cho biết nhiều nam nữ tu sĩ Công Giáo đã bị giết hại
trong chiến tranh.</font></p>

khi nghe chứng tá của các linh mục và nữ tu, tôi cảm thấy cần phải ứng khẩu

<font face="Arial">Một vài lời vang lên trong trái tim tôi: Một trong những
lời này là “tha thứ”. Một người nam nữ đã tận hiến cuộc đời mình cho Chúa,
nhưng không biết làm sao để tha thứ, thì có giá trị gì? Tha thứ cho một kẻ
thù nói xấu mình, ganh ghét với mình, không phải là khó khăn. Nhưng tha thứ
cho một người đã đá anh chị em và làm tổn thương anh chị em, đe dọa cuộc
sống của anh chị em với một khẩu súng, là không dễ. Tuy nhiên, họ đã làm
điều này, và họ xúi chúng ta nên đáp lại như thế. Có một cái gì khác vẫn ở
lại trong tôi về 120 ngày trong trại tập trung. Đã bao nhiêu lần tinh thần

<font face="Arial">Tôi nghĩ về những câu chuyện chúng ta đã được nghe, về
người dân quân đã cho chị nữ tu một quả lê, và về người phụ nữ Hồi giáo hiện
đang sống ở Mỹ, là người đã cho một linh mục ăn. Chúng ta đều là anh chị em,
thậm chí cả những người tàn nhẫn. Tôi không biết người dân quân đã suy nghĩ
những gì, nhưng có lẽ người ấy cảm nhận được Chúa Thánh Thần. Có lẽ ông ta
nhớ đến mẹ mình khi ông ta tặng trái lê cho người nữ tu. Và người phụ nữ Hồi
giáo đã vượt ra ngoài sự khác biệt tôn giáo vì cô tin vào Thiên Chúa. Hãy
tìm kiếm Thiên Chúa của tất cả. Chúng ta đều có khả năng tìm kiếm những hạt
giống của sự thiện, vì chúng ta tất cả là con cái của Thiên Chúa. Phúc cho
anh chị em là những người rất gần gũi với những chứng nhân này. Xin đừng bao
giờ quên họ. Cầu xin cho cuộc sống của chúng ta có thể vươn lên bất chấp
những ký ức này. Tôi nghĩ về vị linh mục mà cha mẹ và chị em đã chết, ngài
trơ trọi một mình nhưng ngài là hoa trái của tình yêu, tình yêu hôn nhân.
Tôi nghĩ về những gì Đức Hồng Y Tổng Giám Mục nói: những gì xảy ra với khu
vườn sự sống? Tại sao nó không phát triển? Hãy cầu nguyện cho các gia đình
có thể phát triển mạnh với nhiều trẻ em và từ đó có thể có nhiều ơn gọi.
Cuối cùng, tôi muốn nói với anh chị em rằng những gì chúng ta đã được nghe
là một câu chuyện về sự tàn bạo. Hôm nay đây, chiến tranh xảy ra trên khắp
thế giới, chúng ta thấy quá nhiều sự tàn ác. Hãy là người đối lập với sự tàn
nhẫn: hãy dịu dàng, huynh đệ, tha thứ. Và vác thập giá của Chúa Giêsu Kitô.
Đó là những gì Giáo Hội Mẹ Thánh mong muốn nơi chúng ta: những việc tử đạo
nhỏ, những chứng tá nhỏ cho Thánh Giá Đức Kitô. Xin Thiên Chúa chúc lành cho
