Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô đặc biệt khuyến khích người trẻ và giáo dân dấn thân
truyền giáo.</font></p>

Chúa Nhật 18-10 tới đây. Trong Sứ điệp công bố Chúa Nhật 24-5-2015, lễ Chúa
Thánh Thần hiện xuống, Đức Thánh Cha khẳng định rằng người trẻ có khả năng
làm chứng tá can đảm, có những công trình quảng đại và nhiều khi đi ngược
dòng. Ngài mời gọi họ đừng để bị tước đoạt mất giấc mơ truyền giáo đích thực,
theo Chúa Giêsu, và chấp nhận hiến thân trọn vẹn, vì việc loan báo Tin Mừng,
trước khi là điều cần thiết cho những người chưa biết Chúa, thì đã là một
nhu cầu đối với những ai yêu mến Chúa”.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Thánh Cha cũng kêu gọi những người thánh hiến, các tu
sĩ nam nữ, khi phục vụ sứ mạng truyền giáo, hãy thăng tiến sự hiện diện của
các tín hữu giáo dân, can đảm cởi mở đối với những người sẵn sàng cộng tác
vào kinh nghiệm truyền giáo, kể cả trong trường hợp ngắn hạn, vì ơn gọi
truyền giáo là điều nội tại ở trong bí tích rửa tội và liên hệ tới tất cả
mọi người.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trong phần đầu của Sứ điệp, Đức Thánh Cha nhắc nhở rằng
truyền giáo không phải là chiêu dụ tín đồ, hay là một chiến lược, nhưng là
lòng say mê đối với Chúa Kitô, đối với dân chúng và Tin Mừng. Ngài cũng nhấn
mạnh mối liên hệ mật thiết giữa đời sống thánh hiến và sứ vụ truyền giáo.
Đức Thánh Cha nhắc đến điều này trong bối cảnh Năm Đời sống Thánh Hiến đang
được cử hành trong toàn Giáo Hội, và năm nay kỷ niệm 50 năm Sắc lệnh Ad
Gentes của Công đồng chung Vatican 2 về công cuộc truyền giáo cho dân ngoại.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Thánh Cha khẳng định rằng “Ai theo Chúa Kitô thì
không thể không trở thành thừa sai. Vì thế, những người thánh hiến được mời
gọi lắng nghe Chúa Thánh Linh, và đi tới những biên cương rộng lớn, những
“khu vực ngoại ô” của các miền truyền giáo, nơi mà Tin Mừng chưa được truyền
tới cho dân ngoại.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trong bối cảnh này, Đức Thánh Cha nói đến một thách đố
hàng đầu trong sứ vụ truyền giáo ngày nay là “tôn trọng nhu cầu của mọi dân
tộc, tái khởi hành từ các căn cội của mình và bảo tồn các giá trị của những
nền văn hóa liên hệ. Thực vậy, mỗi dân tộc, và mỗi nền văn hóa đều có quyền
được giúp đỡ trong truyền thống của họ, để hiểu mầu nhiệm Thiên Chúa và đón
nhận Tin Mừng. Ngoài ra, những người ưu tiên được đón nhận lời loan báo ấy
chính là những người nghèo, những người bé nhỏ, yếu đau, bị coi rẻ và lãng
quên, vì có một mối liên hệ không thể tách rời giữa đức tin và người nghèo”.</font></p>

lập, Mozambique rơi vào một cuộc nội chiến kinh hoàng kéo dài đến ngày 4

JPIC quốc tế và 10 năm truyền giáo tại Cộng hòa Dân chủ Congo. Cha cũng đã
từng phục vụ trong các tổ chức Cứu trợ Nhân đạo của Công Giáo và trong Hội
đồng Giám mục Công Giáo Hoa Kỳ. Ngày 22 tháng 05 năm 2013 cha lên làm Tổng
Phục vụ (2013-2015) thay thế cho cha José Rodriguez Carballo (được bổ nhiệm
