<font face="Arial">”Lễ phong chân phước cho Đức Cha Oscar Arnulfo Romero
Galdámez, Cố Chủ Chăn của Tổng giáo phận San Salvador yêu quí, là động lực
vui mừng lớn lao cho dân Salvador và cho chúng ta là những người đang được
hưởng tấm gương của những người con ưu tú của Giáo Hội. Đức Cha Romero đã
xây dựng hòa bình bằng sức mạnh của tình thương, làm chứng về đức tin bằng
cuộc sống hiến thân đến cùng.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">”Chúa không bao giờ bỏ rơi dân Ngài giữa những khó khăn
và luôn tỏ ra quan tâm đối với những nhu cầu của dân. Chúa thấy sự áp bức,
Ngài nghe tiếng kêu đau thương của con cái và chạy đến cứu giúp để giải
thoát họ khỏi áp bức và đưa họ đến miền đất mới, màu mỡ và rộng rãi, đất
”chảy sữa và mật” (Xc Xh 3,7-8). Như xưa kia Chúa đã chọn Môisê để, nhân
danh Ngài, hướng dẫn dân, Chúa vẫn còn tiếp tục khơi lên những mục tử theo
con tim Ngài, dẫn dắt đoàn Chiên Chúa một cách khôn ngoan và sáng suốt (Xc
Gr 3,15).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">”Tại đất nước tươi đẹp ở Trung Mỹ này, được Thái Bình
Dương tưới gội, Chúa đã ban cho Giáo Hội một Giám Mục nhiệt thành, kính mến
Chúa và phục vụ anh chị em, trở thành hình ảnh của Chúa Kitô Mục Tử Nhân
Lành. Trong thời kỳ sống chung khó khăn, Đức Cha Romero đã biết hướng dẫn,
bênh đỡ và bảo vệ đoàn chiên của Người, luôn trung thành với Tin Mừng và
hiệp thông với toàn thể Giáo Hội. Sứ vụ của Người trổi vượt vì sự quan tâm
đặc biệt đối với những người nghèo khổ nhất và bị gạt ra ngoài lề. Và trong
cái chết của Người, lúc cử hành Hy tế thánh của tình yêu và hòa giải, Người
đã nhận được ơn đồng hóa trọn vẹn với Đấng đã hiến mạng sống vì đoàn chiên.</font></p>

nay để nhắc nhớ chúng ta rằng Giáo Hội, là cộng đồng anh chị em được tập hợp
quanh Chúa, là gia đình của Thiên Chúa, trong đó không được có sự chia rẽ
nào. Niềm tin nơi Chúa Giêsu Kitô, khi được hiểu đúng và đón nhận với những
hệ luận cuối cùng, sẽ sinh ra những cộng đoàn xây dựng hòa bình và tình liên
đới. Đó là điều mà Giáo Hội ngày nay tại El Salvador, Mỹ Châu và trên toàn
thế giới đang được kêu gọi thực thi: một Giáo Hội giàu lòng thương xót, được
biến thành men hòa giải cho xã hội.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">”Đức Cha Romero mời gọi chúng ta sống hợp lương tri và
suy tư, tôn trọng sự sống và hòa hợp. Cần từ bỏ ”bạo lực gươm giáo, bạo lực
oán thù”, và sống ”sức mạnh của tình thương mà Chúa Kitô chịu đóng đanh trên
thập giá đã để lại, sức mạnh làm cho mọi người vượt thắng ích kỷ và để không
còn những chênh lệch tàn bạo giữa chúng ta”. Đức Cha đã biết nhìn và cảm
nghiệm trong thân thể ”sự ích kỷ tiềm ẩn nơi những người không muốn nhường
những gì của mình để đến với tha nhân”. Và với tâm hồn của người cha, Người
lo lắng cho ”những người nghèo khổ nhất, thỉnh cầu những kẻ cường quyền biến
”võ khí thành lưỡi liềm để làm việc”.</font></p>

dựng Nước Thiên Chúa, để dấn thân xây dựng một trật tự xã hội công bằng và
