<font face="Arial">Vào ngày Lễ Ngũ Tuần ở Gialiêm, các tông đồ đã lãnh nhận
Chúa Thánh Thần, cùng với cộng đồng môn đệ đầu tiên của Chúa Kitô, tụ họp ở
nhà tiệc ly cùng với Mẹ Maria, Mẹ của Chúa. Như thế, đối với các vị, lời
Chúa Kitô hứa cùng các vị khi Người bỏ thế gian này trở về cùng Cha được nên
trọn. Vào ngày ấy, Giáo Hội, phát sinh từ cái chết của Chúa Cứu Thế, đã tỏ
mình ra cho thế giới. Tôi sẽ nói về sự kiện này vào bài giáo lý lần tới.</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Giờ đây Tôi muốn trình bày cho thấy rằng việc
Chúa Thánh Thần đến, như việc hoàn tất của giao ước mới nơi máu Chúa Kitô,
làm phát sinh một Dân Chúa mới. Đây là cộng đồng của những ai đã được “thánh
hóa trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô” (1Cor.1:2); những ai Chúa Kitô đã làm họ nên “một
vương quốc tư tế cho Thiên Chúa cũng là Cha của Người” (Rev.1:6; x.5:10;
1Pet.2:9). Tất cả những điều này đã xẩy ra là do Chúa Thánh Thần.</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Để nắm được trọn vẹn tính cách quan trọng của
chân lý này, như được các Tông Đồ Phêrô và Phaolô cùng Sách Khải Huyền loan
báo, chúng ta phải trở về trong giây lát việc thiết lập giao ước cũ giữa
Chúa là Thiên Chúa với dân Yến Duyên (Israel). Đại diện là Moisen, vị lãnh
đạo của dân Yến Duyên, sau cuộc giải phóng khỏi cảnh làm tôi bên Ai Cập.
Những bản văn nói về việc thiết lập cựu ước này xác định rõ ràng là giao ước
đúng nghĩa không được giảm thiểu thành một hiệp ước trên căn bản bổn phận
song phương. Chính Chúa là Thiên Chúa đã chọn Yến Duyên như dân của Ngài, để
dân trở nên sản vật của Ngài, trong khi chính Ngài sẽ là Thiên Chúa của họ
từ đấy về sau.</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Bởi thế chúng ta mới đọc thấy rằng: “Vậy nên,
giờ đây, nếu các ngươi nghe tiếng của Ta và giữ giao ước của Ta, các ngươi
sẽ là gia sản của riêng ta giữa mọi dân nước; vì tất cả trái đất này là của
Ta, và các ngươi đối với Ta sẽ là một vương quốc tư tế và là một dân thánh”
(Ex.19:5-6). Sách Nhị Luật lập lại và xác nhận điều Thiên Chúa công bố trong
sách Xuất Hành. “Vì các ngươi (Yến Duyên) là một dân thánh đối với Chúa là
Thiên Chúa các ngươi; Chúa là Thiên Chúa của các ngươi đã chọn các ngươi để
làm một dân tộc cho sở hữu riêng của Ngài, hơn hết mọi dân tộc sống trên mặt
đất” (Dt.7:6; x.26:18).</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Một chọn lựa như thế về phía Thiên Chúa chỉ
hoàn toàn phát xuất từ tình yêu của Người mà thôi, một tình yêu hoàn toàn
nhưng không. Chúng ta đọc thấy: “Không phải vì các ngươi đông nhiều hơn các
dân nước khác mà Chúa đã động lòng thương các ngươi và chọn các ngươi, các
ngươi chỉ là đám dân ít nhất trong các dân; nhưng chính vì Chúa yêu thương
các ngươi và giữ lới hứa mà Ngài đã thề với cha ông các ngươi, đó là, bằng
bàn tay dũng mãnh, Chúa mang các ngươi ra khỏi và đã cứu các ngươi khỏi nhà
nô lệ” (Dt.7:7-8). Sách Xuất Hành cũng đã nói lên điều này bằng một ngôn ngữ

<font face="Arial"> Thiên Chúa đã tác hành vì tình yêu nhưng
không. Tình yêu này nối kết Yến Duyên lại với Chúa là Thiên Chúa một cách
đặc biệt và phi thường. Bởi tình yêu, Yến Duyên đã trở thành tài sản của
Thiên Chúa. Thế nhưng, một tình yêu như vậy lại đòi phải đáp trả, bởi thế,
cũng đòi hỏi một đáp ứng yêu thương về phía Yến Duyên: “Các ngươi phải kính
mến Chúa là Thiên Chúa các người hết lòng của mình” (Dt.6:5).</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Theo giao ước, một dân mới, Dân Thiên Chúa
được hình thành là như thế. Là “tài sản” của Chúa là Thiên Chúa, nghĩa là
được thánh hiến cho Ngài, phải là một dân thánh. Đó là điều mà Chúa là Thiên
Chúa tỏ ra cho toàn thể cộng đồng dân Yến Duyên qua Moisen: “Các ngươi phải
là thánh, vì Ta, Chúa là Thiên Chúa của các ngươi, là thánh” (Lev.19:2).
Bằng việc chọn lựa này, Thiên Chúa đã ban mình cho dân của Ngài trong thánh
thiện là đặc tính chính của Ngài, và Ngài đòi hỏi sự thánh thiện này nơi Yến
Duyên như một tính chất của đời sống.</font></p>

Yến Duyên được gọi là một dân tư tế: “Các ngươi sẽ được gọi là các tư tế của
Chúa; người ta sẽ nói đến các ngươi như những thừa tác viên của Thiên Chúa
chúng ta” (Is.61:6).</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Giao ước mới, một giao ước mới mà lại vĩnh
cửu, chỉ hình thành “trong máu của Đức Kitô” (x.1Cor.11:25). Nhờ hy hiến
này, một “Đấng An Ủi khác” (Parákletos) (x.Jn.14:16) - đó là Chúa Thánh Thần
- được ban cho những ai được “thánh hóa trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô, gọi là các
đấng thánh” (1Cor.1:2). “Cùng tất cả những người yêu dấu của Thiên Chúa ở
Rôma, những người được kêu gọi là những vị thánh” (Rm.1:7), đó là lời ngỏ
Thánh Phaolô viết gửi cho Kitô hữu ở Rôma. Thánh nhân cũng nói tương tự như
thế với giáo đoàn Côrintô: “Cùng Giáo Hội của Thiên Chúa tại Côrintô, cùng
tất cả các thánh, những người ở khắp Achaia” (2Cor.1:1); với giáo đoàn ở
Philiphê: “Cùng tất cả các thánh trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô, những người ở
Philiphê” (Phil.1:1); với giáo đoàn ở Côlôsê: “Cùng các thánh và anh em
trung thành trong Đức Kitô tại Côlôsê” (Col.1:2); và với giáo đoàn ở
Eâphêsô: “Cùng các thánh, những người ở Êphêsô” (Eph.1:1).</font></p>

<font face="Arial"> Tất cả những trường hợp này ám chỉ Kitô hữu,
hay thành phần tín hữu, đó là thành phần anh em với nhau, những người đã
lãnh nhận Chúa Thánh Thần. Chúa Thánh Thần là Vị chính tay xây cất sự thánh
thiện này, một sự thánh thiện mà, nhờ việc tham dự vào sự thánh thiện của
chính Thiên Chúa, cả đời sống Kitô hữu mới được đắp xây lên: “Anh em đã được
thánh hóa... trong Thần Linh của Thiên Chúa chúng ta” (1Cor.6:11; x.Thess
2:13; 1Pet.1:2).</font></p>

mà, nhờ Chúa Thánh Thần, làm cho thành phần lãnh nhận bí tích rửa tội trở
nên “một vương quốc tư tế đối với Thiên Chúa cũng là Cha của họ”
(x.Rev.1:6,3:10,20:6). Bức Thư thứ nhất của thánh Phêrô hoàn toàn khai triển
sự thật này: “Như những viên đá sống động, chính anh em được xây thành một
ngôi nhà thiêng liêng, thành một chức phận tư tế thánh hảo, để nhờ Chúa
Giêsu Kitô hiến dâng những hy tế linh thiêng đáng Thiên Chúa chấp nhận”
(1Pet.2:5). “Anh em là một chủng tộc được tuyển chọn, một giòng dõi tư tế
vương giả, một dân tộc thánh hảo, dân riêng của Thiên Chúa, để anh em công
bố những việc lạ lùng của Ngài, Đấng đã kêu gọi anh em từ tối tăm ra ánh
sáng lạ lùng” (1Pet.2:9). Chúng ta biết rằng: “họ đã được tỏ cho biết” bằng
tiếng nói của Phúc Âm “nhờ Thánh Thần được sai đến từ trời” (1Pet.1:12).</font></p>

Vaticanô II đã diễn đạt sự thật này bằng những lời sau đây: “Chúa Kitô, vị
thượng tế được chọn giữa loài người (x.Heb.5:1-5), đã làm cho dân mới thành
‘một vương quốc tư tế cho Thiên Chúa, Cha của Người’ (Rev.1:6;x.5:9-10).
Thành phần được rửa tội, nhờ việc tái sinh và xức dầu của Chúa Thánh Thần,
được thánh hiến thành một tòa nhà thiêng liêng và một chức phận tư tế thánh
hảo, để nhờ tất cả những việc làm là những việc làm của Kitô hữu, họ có thể
hiến dâng các hiến tế thiêng liêng và công bố quyền năng của Đấng đã kêu gọi
