Nepal và các hoạt động cứu trợ từ khắp nơi trên thế giới vẫn tiếp tục gia
tăng. Trong một thông tin gửi cho Agenzia Fides, Caritas Quốc tế cho biết
tình hình hiện nay và về hoạt động cứu trợ trong các khu vực mà họ định đến.
Từ Pokhari Danda ở Gorkha, cách tâm chấn 15 km, Stefen Teplan thuộc Caritas
Đức cho biết “60% làng mạc đã bị phá hủy. Còn hơn cả thức ăn và nước uống,
điều cần thiết nhất là nơi trú ẩn tạm thời trước khi gió mùa bắt đầu thổi
đến”. Số người chết và mất tích tiếp tục gia tăng, hơn 130.000 ngôi nhà đã
bị phá hủy và 85.000 ngôi nhà bị hư hỏng một phần. Nhiều khu vực trong cả
nước bị ảnh hưởng, gồm cả các khu vực đồi núi, nơi người dân nông thôn ở rải
rác. Caritas đã đến với 4.000 hộ gia đình ở Thung lũng Kathmandu và cung cấp
cho họ tấm nhựa, chăn và thực phẩm. Các đoàn cứu trợ cũng đã đến được một số
khu vực nông thôn bị ảnh hưởng tồi tệ nhất ở Gorkha, Sindapalchowk, Nuwakot
và Kavre.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ông Angan Baj cho biết: Những người bị mất nhà cửa phải
phơi mình ngoài mưa và thời tiết lạnh, cả ngày lẫn đêm. Họ thực sự cần đến
sự trợ giúp quốc tế. Ông Angan Baj là người điều hành chương trình Ứng phó
Khẩn cấp của Caritas Ấn Độ, đã cùng với đoàn cứu trợ đến thăm các ngôi làng
ở Gorkha. Caritas cũng đang cung cấp nước sạch, dụng cụ vệ sinh và tư vấn.
Thư ký của Caritas Quốc tế, ông Michel Roy, nói rằng cơ quan Caritas chìm
ngập trong những đóng góp và đoàn kết từ khắp nơi trên thế giới.</font></td>
