niệm việc 147 ngự lâm quân hy sinh tính mạng để bảo vệ Đức Giáo Hoàng
Clêmentê VII trong vụ "cướp phá Rôma" vào năm 1527.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Để tưởng nhớ cái chết anh dũng của các vệ binh, hàng năm
việc tuyên thệ trọng thể của các tân binh được tổ chức đúng vào ngày này.
Năm nay, có 32 tân ngự lâm quân tuyên thệ vào buổi chiều cùng ngày trong sân
San Damaso thuộc Dinh Tông Tòa.</font></p>

vai trò mang tính nghi lễ trong các biến cố và trong các buổi cử hành phụng
vụ của Đức Giáo Hoàng và họ luôn được nhìn thấy trong trang phục nghi lễ đầy
màu sắc với ngọn kích trên tay, sát cánh bên Đức Giáo Hoàng.</font></p>

nghi lễ, họ là một lực lượng quân đội thực thụ, được đào tạo tinh nhuệ và
được trang bị vũ khí hiện đại. Người ta có thể nhìn thấy họ trong trang phục
thường nhật, khi họ bảo vệ Porta Santa Anna, cửa ngõ ra vào Quốc Gia Thành
Vatican. Họ vừa là một quân đội, vừa là các vệ sĩ, vừa là lực lượng bảo vệ

<font face="Arial">Vai trò của Vệ binh Thuỵ Sĩ trong lòng Giáo Hội Công Giáo
vượt xa một đội nghi lễ với các trang phục lỗi thời. Mới đây ít ngày, Đức
Thánh Cha Phanxicô đã đặt họ ở vị trí rất đẹp. Ngài đã dành cho các vệ binh
lời chào đầy thương mến và tri ân. Ngài nói: 'Giáo Hội yêu thương anh em
thật nhiều… và tôi cũng vậy '.</font></p>

Thánh Cha đã căn dặn các ngự lâm quân phải năng lần chuỗi Mân Côi và phải
luôn mang theo sách Phúc Âm.</font></p>

khi nào anh em có chút thời gian thanh thản. Kinh Thánh sẽ giúp anh em trong
việc cầu nguyện cá nhân của mình, đặc biệt là năng đọc kinh Mân Côi khi canh
