Hoàng Phanxicô đã cảnh báo các giám mục châu Phi chống lại các hình thức
“thực dân” mới và vô luân như theo đuổi thành công, giàu có, quyền lực bằng
mọi giá; đồng thời ngài cũng cảnh báo về sự gia tăng các trào lưu tôn giáo
cực đoan xuyên tạc và lèo lái tôn giáo, và những hệ tư tưởng mới đang phá
huỷ bản sắc cá nhân và gia đình.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Ngài đã
phát biểu như trên với đại diện của Hội Đồng Giám Mục Phi Châu và
Madagascar, gọi tắt là SECAM.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Đức Thánh
Cha Phanxicô đặc biệt nhấn mạnh rằng người trẻ là tương lai của châu Phi, và
họ cần chứng tá của các vị mục tử. Ngài nói rằng cách hiệu quả nhất để vượt
qua cám dỗ đầu hàng trước những lối sống có hại là đầu tư vào giáo dục.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">"Giáo dục
cũng sẽ giúp khắc phục được những não trạng đang lan tràn trong đó đề cao
bất công, bạo lực, cũng như những chia rẽ sắc tộc".</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Ngài nói:
"Nhu cầu lớn nhất là một mô hình giáo dục dạy trẻ biết suy nghĩ có phê phán
chứ đừng nhắm mắt chấp nhận và khuyến khích sự phát triển các giá trị đạo
đức."</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Đức Thánh
Cha cũng cảnh báo chống lại sự đổ vỡ của các gia đình ở châu Phi, và cho
biết Giáo Hội được mời gọi để đánh giá và khuyến khích mọi sáng kiến nhằm
tăng cường các gia đình vì "đó là nguồn gốc thực sự của tất cả các hình thức
tình anh em và là nền tảng chính yếu của hòa bình. "</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Đức Thánh
Cha cũng đã ca ngợi công việc của các nhà truyền giáo và nhân viên Giáo Hội
trong việc giúp đỡ người già và đau khổ trên lục địa. Ngài đặc biệt nhắc đến
những người đã quảng đại hỗ trợ trong cuộc khủng hoảng Ebola gần đây ở Tây
Phi.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8pt"><font face="Arial">Đức Thánh
Cha Phanxicô ca ngợi SECAM vì những cố gắng để cung cấp "một phản ứng tổng
quát với những thách thức mới mà lục địa này đang phải đối mặt ", cho phép
Giáo Hội "nói với một tiếng nói đồng nhất và đưa ra những chứng tá cho ơn
gọi của mình như là một dấu chỉ và khí cụ của ơn cứu rỗi, hòa bình, đối
thoại và hòa giải. "</font></p>
