nhất Kitô giáo” là Chúa Nhật II Thường Niên (năm B), và đặc biệt là dịp
chúng ta cùng với hàng triệu Kitô hữu trên thế giới vui mừng kỷ niệm lần thứ
100 của Tuần Hiệp Nhất.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Ước muốn hiệp nhất Kitô giáo là sự thật về phong trào đại
kết, sự hiệp nhất bắt nguồn từ Đức Kitô. Ngài đã bày tỏ rõ ràng trong lời
cầu nguyện tại Bữa Tiệc Ly, trước khi Ngài chịu khổ nạn: “Lạy Cha, Con không
chỉ cầu nguyện cho những người này, nhưng còn cho những ai nhờ lời họ mà tin
vào con, để tất cả nên một, như Cha ở trong con và con ở trong Cha để họ
cũng ở trong chúng ta. Như vậy, thế gian sẽ tin rằng Cha đã sai con” (Ga
17:20-21).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Cầu nguyện là điều cần thiết trước khi làm bất cứ việc gì,
như tác giả Thánh Vịnh xác định: “Ví như Chúa chẳng xây nhà, thợ nề vất vả
cũng là uổng công. Thành kia mà Chúa không phòng giữ, uổng công người trấn
thủ canh đêm. Bạn có thức khuya hay dậy sớm, khó nhọc làm ăn cũng hoài công.
Còn kẻ được Chúa thương dầu có ngủ, Người vẫn ban cho đủ tiêu dùng” (Tv
127:1-2). Việc xây “Nhà Hiệp Nhất Kitô Giáo” là việc chung, nhưng nếu không
được Chúa Giêsu giúp đỡ thì cũng luống công vô ích. Thật vậy, chính Ngài đã
nói: “Không có Thầy, anh em chẳng làm gì được” (Ga 15:5).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Tuần lễ cầu cho sự hiệp nhất Kitô giáo hàng năm từ ngày
18 tới 25 thánh Một, do các Tu sĩ Dòng Phanxicô Hoa Kỳ khởi xướng, họ thuộc
Tân giáo (Episcopalian Communion) hoặc Anh giáo (Anglican Communion). Họ là
Lm Paul Wattson và Nt Lurana White, Dòng Phanxicô Đền Tội (Franciscan Friars
and Sisters of the Atonement). Nhóm này mau chóng trở thành Công Giáo Rôma.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Thánh 1-1908, tuần lễ cầu cho sự hiệp nhất Kitô giáo được
cử hành tại nhà nguyện của nữ tu viện Phanxicô Tân giáo, trên ngọn đồi cách
TP New York 50 dặm về phía Bắc. Lm Wattson và các tu sĩ nam nữ Phanxicô cảm
thấy rằng Anh giáo nên phục hồi tính Công Giáo bằng cách tìm kiếm một dạng
“hiệp nhất” nào đó với Đức Giáo Hoàng ở Rôma. Các tu sĩ này thấy có sự đáp
lại từ phía Rôma bằng cách hiệp thông hoàn toàn từ năm 1909.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Từ đầu, ngày 18 được chọn là ngày mở đầu Tuần Hiệp Nhất
vì hồi đó ngày này là lễ Tông Tòa Thánh Phêrô tại Rôma. Thập niên 1930, Lm
Paul Couturier, người Pháp, cổ vũ sự hiệp nhất Kitô giáo nên khuyên cầu
nguyện cho sự hiệp nhất Kitô giáo như Chúa Giêsu mong muốn.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Năm 1964, Công đồng Vatican II đã ban hành sắc lệnh về
đại kết, khuyến khích người Công Giáo “cầu nguyện cùng với các anh em ly
khai” và nhận biết các cộng đồng Kitô giáo khác. Năm 1968, Tuần Hiệp Nhất
chính thức được gọi là “Tuần lễ Cầu nguyện cho sự Hiệp nhất Kitô giáo”. Tuần
lễ này là “tám ngày suy nghĩ về sự thay đổi của chúng ta trong Đức Giêsu
Kitô”.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">"Con đã truyền lại cho họ lời của Cha, và thế gian đã
ghét họ, vì họ không thuộc về thế gian, cũng như con đây không thuộc về thế
gian. Con không xin Cha cất họ khỏi thế gian, nhưng xin Cha gìn giữ họ khỏi
ác thần. Họ không thuộc về thế gian cũng như con đây không thuộc về thế
gian. Xin Cha lấy sự thật mà thánh hiến họ. Lời Cha là sự thật. Như Cha đã
sai con đến thế gian, thì con cũng sai họ đến thế gian. Vì họ, con xin thánh
hiến chính mình con, để nhờ sự thật, họ cũng được thánh hiến. Con không chỉ
cầu nguyện cho những người này, nhưng còn cho những ai nhờ lời họ mà tin vào
con, để tất cả nên một, như Cha ở trong con và con ở trong Cha để họ cũng ở
trong chúng ta. Như vậy, thế gian sẽ tin rằng Cha đã sai con. Phần con, con
đã ban cho họ vinh quang mà Cha đã ban cho con, để họ được nên một như chúng
ta là một: Con ở trong họ và Cha ở trong con, để họ được hoàn toàn nên một;
như vậy, thế gian sẽ nhận biết là chính Cha đã sai con và đã yêu thương họ
như đã yêu thương con. Lạy Cha, con muốn rằng con ở đâu, thì những người Cha
đã ban cho con cũng ở đó với con, để họ chiêm ngưỡng vinh quang của con,
vinh quang mà Cha đã ban cho con, vì Cha đã yêu thương con trước khi thế
gian được tạo thành. Lạy Cha là Đấng công chính, thế gian đã không biết Cha,
nhưng con, con đã biết Cha, và những người này đã biết là chính Cha đã sai
con. Con đã cho họ biết danh Cha, và sẽ còn cho họ biết nữa, để tình Cha đã
yêu thương con, ở trong họ, và con cũng ở trong họ nữa” (Ga 17:14-26).</font></td>
