Mục Phêrô Nguyễn Văn Tốt là sứ thần Tòa Thánh tại đảo quốc này và Đức Hồng Y
Malcolm Ranjith của tổng giáo phận thủ đô Colombo và đông đảo các Giám Mục

xe từ Tòa Sứ Thần Tòa Thánh đến dinh Temple Trees cách đó gần 4km để có cuộc
gặp gỡ với tân tổng thống Maithripala Sirisena. Đây là lần đầu tiên ông gặp
gỡ Đức Thánh Cha trong tư cách tổng thống của Sri Lanka. Tuy nhiên, ông đã
từng được Đức Thánh Cha tiếp tại dinh Tông Tòa của Tòa Thánh hôm 3 tháng 10
trong tư cách là thành viên của phái đoàn do cựu tổng thống Mahinda
Rajapaksa dẫn đầu sang thăm Tòa Thánh.</font></p>

mất tự do, họ trở thành nô lệ trong các hình thức nô lệ tân thời cho quyền

hình thức nô lệ "được sinh ra từ một con tim băng hoại, một con tim không có

Kitô tại Iraq và Syria của “chủ nghĩa khủng bố cực đoan”. Hiện tượng này là
“hậu quả của một nền văn hóa loại bỏ được áp dụng cho Thiên Chúa. Thực vậy,
trào lưu tôn giáo cực đoan, trước khi nó là một sự loại bỏ con người qua
những cuộc thảm sát kinh khủng, thì nó là sự phủ nhận chính Thiên Chúa, coi
Chúa chỉ là một cái cớ ý thức hệ” nhằm biện minh cho những hình thái bạo lực

Trung Đông, Đức Thánh Cha nhấn mạnh rằng: “Một Trung Đông không còn Kitô hữu
thì sẽ là một Trung Đông bị biến dạng và què quặt”. Ngài cũng đưa ra lời

số nước Phi châu khác, Đức Thánh Cha tố giác hiện tượng đáng kinh tởm là nạn
buôn các thiếu nữ bị bắt cóc để cưỡng bách kết hôn. Đức Thánh Cha đặc biệt
tố giác sự kiện chiến tranh cũng dẫn đến một tội ác đáng kinh tởm là sự hãm
hiếp. Đây là một sự vi phạm rất trầm trọng chống lại phẩm giá của phụ nữ,
không những họ bị vi phạm trong thân thể, nhưng cả trong tâm hồn, với chấn
thương khó có thể xóa bỏ được. Rất tiếc là nơi nào có chiến tranh thì người
ta cũng thấy có quá nhiều phụ nữ phải chịu đau khổ vì tội ác này.</font></p>

nặng và sự hiện diện của họ bị coi như một sự phiền phức, trong khi người

cái nhìn của ngài có sắc thái bi quan và ngài cảm tạ Thiên Chúa về những

Trong ý hướng đó, Đức Thánh Cha nhắc đến cuộc viếng thăm của ngài trong năm

Phước Giáo Hoàng Phaolô Đệ lục trong cuộc viếng thăm tổ chức này hồi năm

trong các trại. Phần lớn các hạ tầng cơ sở và hàng chục ngàn gia cư cùng với
tất cả các nhà thương tại Haiti bị động đất phá hủy.</font></p>
