<font face="Arial">Chiều thứ hai 12.1 chúng tôi rời Úc lên đường bay sang
Colombo, Tích Lan (Sri Lanka). Sau hơn 5 giờ bay và hơn 3 giờ chờ đợi ở
Singapore để đổi chuyến bay, chúng tôi đã đến phi trường Colombo sau 3 tiếng
30 phút vào lúc 0.15am sáng thứ ba (hôm nay) - giờ địa phương đi sau giờ
Việt Nam 2 tiếng 30 phút.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Nhờ gia đình người giáo dân trong giáo xứ liên lạc với
người thân ở Colombo ra phi trường đón anh em chúng tôi, nên cũng an tâm.
Nếu không, vấn đề vận chuyển về khách sạn không mấy dễ dàng, vì nhiều đường
xá từ Xa Lộ dẫn vào thành phố và những con đường chính trong thành phố đã
được phong tỏa trong những ngày trước để bảo đảm an ninh cho việc tiếp đón
Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô sẽ đến đất nước nầy vào 9.00am ngày hôm nay (thứ Ba
13.1), cho nên xe phải chạy rất xa..</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trên chuyến xe từ phi trường vô thành phố Colombo, dọc 1
bên đường chúng tôi thấy quá nhiều cờ tòa thánh Vatican và quốc gia Sri
Lanka xen kẽ nhau trên suốt xa lộ dẫn vào thành phố không thể nào đếm cho
hết được. Cứ cách nhau khoảng 10 mét là 1 lá cờ tòa thánh và kế tiếp cũng
khoảng 10 mét là cờ của đảo quốc. Chúng tôi nói với nhau trên xe chắc là
không dưới mấy trăm ngàn cây cờ của Tòa Thánh Vatican và đảo quốc Sri Lanka
bay phất phới trong đêm khuya. Khi xe vào trong thành phố chính, những đoạn
đường nào mà xe Đức Thánh Cha sẽ đi qua hoặc sẽ gặp dân chúng thì cờ xí cũng
bay phất phới. Nhiều bảng hiệu quảng cáo trên các cao ốc hay trên những cây
cầu bắt ngang các con đường dành cho người đi bộ cũng vẽ họa nhiều hình ĐGH
Phanxicô với những câu chào đón kính trọng trân quý chuyến viếng thăm của
Ngài và Phái Đoàn Tòa Thánh.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sáng hôm nay, chúng tôi có dịp đi tham quan thành phố
Colombo. Thành phố Colombo sáng nay không có kẹt xe và nhộn nhịp nhiều như
thường lệ. Có lẽ do 2 lý do: Một số đường dẫn đến tụ điểm chính nơi ĐGH
Phanxicô sẽ đến gặp gỡ dân chúng bị giới hạn. Lý do thứ hai là 9.00am sáng
nay ĐGH đến phi trường Colombo, nên dân chúng đã đi đón Ngài ngoài phi
trường và dọc các tuyến đường dẫn vào thành phố, nên phố xá, siêu thị hơi
vắng khách mua sắm vãng lai như mọi ngày.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chúng tôi đi tham quan vài siêu thị chính trong thành
phố, tiệm bán đồ… dường như nhân công phục vụ đông hơn là khách hàng đi mua
sắm sáng hôm nay. Nhìn cách khách quan, đa số các cửa hàng trong những siêu
thị chính thì dường như nhiều tiệm bán đồ nữ trang hay vàng vòng. Chúng tôi
đoán có lẽ xứ sở nầy họ trân quý vàng bạc như Ân Độ, Miến Điện và ngay cả
Việt Nam hơn là ngoại tệ…</font></p>

muốn đổi Australian Dollars ra tiền địa phương (Rupee) thì người đổi tiền

giáo xứ chúng tôi đang phục vụ… Khi biết chúng tôi sẽ lên đường đi qua xứ sở
họ… họ cho chúng tôi số điện thoại, địa chỉ thân nhân của họ vì họ quan tâm
đến chúng tôi và cũng phần nào muốn chúng tôi có cơ hội đến thăm gia đình
của họ còn ở lại Sri Lanka. Cho dù chúng tôi đến Sri Lanka trong một thời
gian rất ngắn, nhưng họ đã liên lạc liên tục và mong chúng tôi đến thăm và
dùng cơm với gia đình của họ.</font></p>

đến một nhân vật Việt Nam đang phục vụ cho Giáo Hội Công Giáo Sri Lanka
trong vai trò Sứ Thần của Tòa Thánh trên đảo quốc nầy đó là Đức Tổng Giám
Mục Pierre Nguyễn văn Tốt, Sứ Thần Tòa Thánh của Giáo Hội Công Giáo Sri
Lanka. Ngài đã giúp chúng tôi có cơ hội đồng tế với Đức Thánh Cha trong
thánh lễ ngày mai. Mỗi lần chúng tôi liên lạc với ngài qua bất cứ hình thức
nào, ngài đều nhã nhặn trả lời từng lần, từng vấn đề trong sự tế nhị, khiêm
tốn và hiếu khách của Dân Tộc Việt Nam. Như hôm qua chẳng hạn, khi chúng tôi

mai thứ Tư 14.1 và ngài cũng cho linh mục và tài xế đến đưa chúng tôi đi ăn
