<font face="Arial">Chuyện về bà Pelosi thì dài và buồn cười lắm, nhưng khổ
nỗi vì bà ta là một người 'có tai có tiếng' cho nên người ta phải bàn về bà.</font><p>
<font face="Arial">Bà là dân biểu đơn vị San Francisco, từng là chủ tịch Hạ
Viện khi đảng Dân Chủ còn giữ đa số. Khi đảng này thất thế, thông thường các
vị chủ tịch bị mất ghế thì về hưu, nhưng bà ấy vẫn ở lại, giữ lấy chức thủ
lãnh khối thiểu số.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Mặc dù bà Pelosi tự mô tả mình là một "người Công Giáo
mộ đạo và siêng năng," nhưng mọi giới chức Công Giáo đều chỉ trích bà vì lập
trường phá thai cuả bà. Đến nỗi ngay cả ở Vatican, Đức Hồng Y Raymond Leo
Burke lúc còn là tổng trưởng Tối cao Pháp viện, đã nêu lên ý kiến là bà ấy
nên bị dứt phép thông công thì tốt hơn (năm 2013).</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Bà ấy là một thí dụ hoàn hảo cuả trường hợp mà một
người Công Giáo tách rời những gì mình tin với cách sống hàng ngày, Đức Hồng
Y nói:</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Đây là một ví dụ điển hình về những gì mà 'Chân Phước'
(nay là Thánh) Gioan Phaolô II gọi là tình hình của một người Công Giáo, đã
ly dị đức tin của mình ra khỏi đời sống công cộng và do đó không phục vụ anh
chị em của mình một cách đúng lẽ - là phải bảo vệ và thúc đẩy sự sống của
những trẻ chưa sinh vô tội và không thể tự vệ, bằng cách bảo vệ và thúc đẩy
sự toàn vẹn của hôn nhân và gia đình."</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Nhớ lại bà Pelosi đã bị từng khiển trách như vậy vào
năm 2008 khi bà tuyên bố, "Tôi không nghĩ rằng bất cứ ai có thể cho bạn biết
khi nào thì cuộc sống bắt đầu, khi nào thì cuộc sống của con người bắt đầu.
Như tôi đã nói, Giáo Hội Công Giáo đã bỏ ra nhiều thế kỷ và vẫn đang còn
thảo luận về vấn đề này."</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Bà ta chẳng có một tí hiểu biết gì về thần học hay
lịch sử cuả Giaó Hội cả, những câu tuyên bố như trên chỉ là những lời 'bịa
ra' một cách 'xanh rờn.' Giới báo chí lúc đó đã chế nhạo bà với một 'hỗn
danh' là 'thần học gia tự suy tự diễn'.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Các Giám mục Mỹ thì cho biết bà Pelosi đã "bóp méo"
giáo huấn của Hội Thánh. Đức Hồng Y Edward Egan, lúc đó là tổng giám mục New
York, cho biết Ngài đã cảm thấy "sốc" trước ý kiến đó cuả bà, Ngài nói:</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Những gì mà bà Pelosi nói về thần học và quan điểm
cuả Giáo Hội liên quan đến phá thai thì không chỉ là những thông tin sai lạc
mà thôi; mà, đặc biệt, là hoàn toàn không thể tin được trong thời buổi hiện
tại."</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Mới đây, nhân dịp bàn cãi về dự luật hạn chế phá thai
những thai kỳ trên 20 tuần, bà đã bị chính vị Giám Mục cuả bà quở trách sau
khi bà từ chối không cho biết ý kiến nếu một thai nhi ở tuần thứ 20 có là
một con người hay không.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Khi được hỏi trực tiếp bởi một phóng viên, bà hướng
câu hỏi vào một khía cạnh khác của cuộc tranh luận.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Một phóng viên của CNS hỏi: "một đứa trẻ chưa sinh lúc
ở thai kỳ tuần thứ 20 có phải là một con người không?"</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Bà Nancy Pelosi trả lời: "Bạn biết không, những gì
chúng ta thường bàn trên diễn đàn Hạ Viện là những điều về việc các chính
trị gia có nên xác định những ảnh hưởng đến sức khỏe của một người phụ nữ
không, có nên xác định cuộc sống của cô ta, sức khỏe của họ, và vv. Tôi
không nghĩ là các chính trị gia nên làm những điều đó. Và đó là lý do tại
sao chúng tôi đang rất chống đối những gì đang xảy ra tại Hạ Viện. "</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Đức Tổng Giám Mục Salvatore Cordileone của San
Francisco đã lên tiếng quở trách bà Pelosi như sau:</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Thực tế khoa học đã chứng minh rằng sự sống con người
bắt đầu từ lúc thụ thai, điều này đã được Y Khoa chấp nhận trên 100 năm nay.
Giáo huấn Công Giáo thừa nhận thực tế khoa học này, và đã luôn khẳng định
việc huỷ diệt một con người vô tội là một sự dữ luân lý nghiêm trọng.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Giáo Hội ngay từ đầu vẫn đã giảng dạy như thế, và đó
là một giảng dạy phù hợp với những thể hiện trong luật tự nhiên, và do đó,
không một người Công Giáo nào có một lương tâm tốt có thể đối lập được,"
Ngài nói.</font></td>
