<font face="Arial">Con trẻ, được hạ sinh bởi Trinh Nữ Maria ở Bêlem, đã đến
không phải chỉ cho dân Yến Duyên (Israel), thành phần dân được tiêu biểu nơi
các mục đồng ở Bêlem, mà còn cho toàn thể nhân loại nữa, hôm nay được tiêu
biểu nơi những nhà hiền triết đến từ Đông phương. Chính về thành phần Đạo Sĩ
này và về cuộc hành trình họ tìm kiếm Đấng Thiên Sai mà hôm nay Giáo Hội mời
gọi chúng ta suy niệm và cầu nguyện.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Những nhà hiền triết từ Đông phương này là thành phần đầu
tiên trong đoàn người diễn hành được Tiên Tri Isaia nói đến trong bài đọc
thứ nhất hôm nay (xem 60:1-6): một cuộc diễn hành từ ngày ấy vẫn không ngừng
tiếp tục; một cuỗc diễn hành xẩy ra ở mọi thời đại khi thấy được tín hiệu
của ngôi sao để đi tìm gặp Con Trẻ là Đấng cho thấy nỗi êm ái dịu dàng của
Thiên Chúa. Những con người mới bao giờ cũng được ngôi sao ấy soi dẫn; họ
thấy được đường đi nước bước để đến trước nhan của Người.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Theo truyền thống thì những nhà hiền triết ấy là thành
phần đạo sĩ, thành phần theo dõi các tinh tú, thành phần quan sát các tầng
trời, trong một bối cảnh văn hóa và đạo giáo, đã thấy các tinh tú trên trời
như có một ý nghĩa và quyền lực trên sinh hoạt của loài người. Những con
người hiền triết này tiêu biểu cho thành phần nam nữ tìm kiếm Thiên Chúa nơi
các đạo giáo và triết lý trên thế giới: một tìm cầu khôn tận. Những con
người nam nữ tìm kiếm Thiên Chúa.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Những nhà hiền triết ấy chỉ cho chúng ta thấy đường lối
cho cuộc hành trình của chúng ta suốt cả cuộc đời. Họ đã thấy Ánh Sáng thật.
Như bài thánh ca phụng vụ Lễ Hiển Linh nói về cảm nghiệm của họ cho biết:
"Lumen requirunt lunine"; bằng việc theo một ánh sáng (a light), họ đã thấy
chính ánh sáng (the light): "Lumen requirunt lunine". Họ bắt đầu tìm kiếm
Thiên Chúa. Khi thấy dấu hiệu ngôi sao, họ nắm bắt được tín hiệu của nó và
thực hiện cuộc hành trình dài.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chính Thánh Linh là Đấng đã kêu gọi họ và tác động họ lên
đường; trong cuộc hành trình của mình họ cũng có được một cuộc hội ngộ riêng
tư với vị Thiên Chúa chân thật.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Trên đường đi, thành phần hiền triết này đã gặp nhiều khó
khăn. Khi đến thành Giêrusalem, họ đã đến dinh của nhà vua, vì họ nghĩ vị
tân vương phải được sinh ra ở hoàng cung. Ở đó họ bị lạc mất ngôi sao. Tình
trạng không còn nhìn thấy ngôi sao thường xẩy ra biết bao! Và vì bị lạc mất
ngôi sao nên họ đã bị cám dỗ do ma quỉ cài đặt ở ngay đó: chính là cái mưu
mô gian trá của Hêrôđê. Quận Vương Hêrôđê chú ý tới con trẻ này, không phải
để tôn thờ Người mà là để tiêu diệt Người. Hêrôđê là một con người quyền lực
coi những kẻ khác chỉ như là thành phần kình địch đối thủ. Tận thâm tâm ông
ta cũng coi Thiên Chúa như là một địch thủ, thật sự là một tay địch thủ nguy
hiểm nhất trong các địch thủ. Ở cung điện này thành phần hiền triết ấy đã
trải qua những giây phút mù mờ tăm tối, những giây phút ưu sầu phiền muộn,
họ cần phải thắng vượt nhờ tác động của Thánh Linh, Đấng phán dạy qua các

<font face="Arial">Bấy giờ họ tiếp tục lên đường và một lần nữa họ thấy được
ngôi sao; vị thánh ký viết rằng họ "hết sức hớn hở" (Mathêu 2:10). Đến Bêlem
họ đã thấy "con trẻ cùng với Maria mẹ của Người" (Mathêu 2:11). Sau cơn cám
dỗ ở Giêrusalem thì trước mắt họ là một chước cám dỗ cả thể thứ hai trong
việc họ loại bỏ đi những gì bé mọn ấy. Thế nhưng, "họ đã phục xuống và tôn
thờ Người", dâng cho Người những tặng vật tiêu biểu quí báu của họ. Một lần
nữa, chính ân sủng của Thánh Linh đã trợ giúp họ. Ân sủng này, một ân sủng
qua ngôi sao đã kêu gọi họ và dẫn đưa cuộc hành trình của họ, giờ đây đem họ
vào mầu nhiệm. Ngôi sao dẫn họ tiến bước trong cuộc hành trình đã giúp họ có
thể tiến vào mầu nhiệm. Được Thần Linh dẫn dắt, họ nhận ra rằng các tiêu
chuẩn của Thiên Chúa hoàn toàn khác với những tiêu chuẩn của loài người,
Thiên Chúa không tỏ mình nơi quyền lực của thế gian này, nhưng nói với chúng
ta một cách thấp hèn của tình Ngài yêu thương. Tình yêu của Thiên Chúa thì
cao cả. Tình yêu của Thiên Chúa thì mãnh lực. Thế nhưng tình yêu của Thiên
Chúa lại khiêm hèn, phải, rất là hèn mọn. Bởi thế mà các nhà hiền triết này
là mô phạm cho việc hoán cải đức tin chân thật, vì họ đã tin vào sự thiện
hảo của Thiên Chúa hơn là cái quyền lực hào nhoáng bề ngoài.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Vậy chúng ta có thể tự vấn rằng: Đâu là mầu nhiệm Thiên
Chúa ẩn mình? Tôi có thể tìm thấy Ngài ở đâu? Chúng quanh mình chúng ta thấy
toàn là chiến tranh, khai thác trẻ em, hành hạ tra tấn, buôn bán vũ khí,
buôn bán con người... Nơi tất cả những thực tại này, nơi những sự ấy, thành
phần hèn mọn nhất trong anh chị em của chúng ta đang chịu đựng những tình
trạng khốn khó ấy đều có Chúa Giêsu (xem Mathêu 25:40,45). Máng cỏ chỉ cho
chúng ta thấy một đường lối khác với đường lối được tâm tưởng trần gian này
coi trọng, đó là đường lối tự hèn hạ mình của Thiên Chúa, lòng khiêm nhượng
của tình yêu Thiên Chúa đã khiến Ngài trở thành thấp hèn, Ngài hoàn toàn hạ
mình xuống, vinh quang của Ngài bị che giấu đi nơi máng có Bêlem, trên thập
giá Đồi Canvê, nơi mỗi một người anh chị em đau khổ của chúng ta.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Những nhà hiền triết này đã tiến vào mầu nhiệm ấy. Họ
băng qua từ những tính toán của loài người đến mầu nhiệm: đó là việc hoán
cải của họ. Còn việc hoán cải của chúng ta thì sao? Chúng ta hãy xin Chúa
cho chúng ta thực hiện một cuộc hành trình hoán cải tương tự mà các nhà hiền
triết này đã trải qua. Chúng ta hãy xin Ngài bảo vệ chúng ta và giải thoát
chúng ta khỏi những cám dỗ làm khuất lấp đi vì tinh tú. Chúng ta cũng luôn
cảm thấy trục trặc: "Vì tinh tú đâu mất rồi?", bất cứ lúc nào - giữa những
lừa đảo của thế giới này - chúng ta cũng không còn thấy được nó nữa. Chúng
ta hãy nhận biết mầu nhiệm của Thiên Chúa một cách mới mẻ hơn bao giờ hết,
đừng bị hoảng hồn trước "dấu chỉ", dấu chỉ của các thiên thần là những gì
dẫn đến "một thơ nhi được quấn trong khăn nằm trong máng cỏ" (Luca 2:12), và
hãy khiêm nhượng xin Người Mẹ là Mẹ của chúng ta tỏ Người ra cho chúng ta.
Hãy trở nên can đảm thoát khỏi những thứ ảo tưởng của chúng ta, lòng tự phụ
của chúng ta, "các thứ ánh sáng" của chúng ta, và hãy trở nên can đảm trong
việc hạ mình tin tưởng nhờ đó gặp được Ánh Sáng, Lumen, như những nhà hiền
triết. Chớ gì chúng ta tiến vào mầu nhiệm này. Chớ gì được như vậy. Amen.</font></td>
