<font face="Arial">WHĐ (15.01.2015) – Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô đã đến Manila,
thủ đô Philippines, để bắt đầu chặng thứ hai của chuyến viếng thăm mục vụ
tại châu Á. Sau chuyến bay dài sáu giờ ba mươi phút từ thủ đô Colombo của
Sri Lanka, máy bay của Đức Thánh Cha đã đáp xuống căn cứ không quân Villamor
gần sân bay quốc tế Ninoy Aquino ở Manila lúc 5g45 chiều thứ Năm 15-01, giờ
Manila. Đám đông dân chúng đã reo hò, ca hát và nhảy múa chào đón Đức Thánh
Cha. Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô là vị giáo hoàng thứ ba đến thăm Philippines –được
coi như Trung tâm Công giáo của châu Á–, sau Đức giáo hoàng Phaolô VI (tháng
11/1970) và Đức giáo hoàng Gioan Phaolô II (tháng 2/1981 và tháng 1/1995).</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chủ đề chính của chuyến tông du lần này là “Thương xót và
Nhân từ”; và một trong những khoảnh khắc được chờ đợi nhất sẽ là chuyến
viếng thăm tại trung tâm thành phố Tacloban, cách Manila gần 600 km về phía
đông nam, nơi bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề nhất của cơn bão Haiyan hồi tháng 11 năm
2013 với trên 7.300 người chết hoặc mất tích được ghi nhận. Đức Thánh Cha sẽ
cử hành một Thánh Lễ ngoài trời tại sân bay Tacloban, làm phép một trung tâm
mới (mang tên ngài) cho người nghèo và dùng bữa trưa với các nạn nhân sống
sót. Ngài cũng sẽ gặp gỡ các linh mục, chủng sinh và các tu sĩ nam nữ tại
Nhà thờ chính toà Chúa Hiển Dung của Tổng giáo phận Palo. Thị trấn Palo cũng
bị cơn bão này tàn phá nặng nề.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Tại thủ đô Manila, Đức Thánh Cha sẽ cử hành hai Thánh Lễ,
một Thánh lễ vào ngày thứ Sáu tại Vương cung thánh đường Đức Mẹ Vô Nhiễm,
sau cuộc hội kiến Tổng thống Benigno Aquino, và tiếp theo là một cuộc gặp gỡ
các gia đình trên cả nước. Vào Chúa nhật, ngày cuối của chuyến tông du,
trước khi lên đường trở về Roma, Đức Thánh Cha sẽ chủ tế Thánh Lễ bế mạc
cùng với tất cả các giám mục địa phương. Thánh lễ này diễn ra tại một tại
công viên không lồ ven biển, nơi chính Thánh giáo hoàng Gioan Phaolô II đã
gặp gỡ rất đông các bạn trẻ trong Ngày Giới trẻ Thế giới lần thứ 10, cách
nay đúng 20 năm.</font></p>

“để đón nhận ân sủng, lắng nghe những tiếng gọi, khuấy động những gì tiện
