			Trung Quốc kêu gọi Tòa thánh Vatican thực hiện bước đầu tiên để hàn 
			gắn tình trạng rạn nứt ngày càng trầm trọng giữa Đức giáo hoàng 
			Benedicto 16 và Giáo hội Thiên Chúa giáo được nhà nước bảo trợ ở 
			Trung Quốc. <br>

			Tại một cuộc họp báo ở Bắc Kinh hôm thứ Ba, phát ngôn viên Bộ Ngoại 
			giao Trung Quốc Khương Du kêu gọi Vatican “thừa nhận sự kiện tự do 
			tôn giáo của Trung Quốc” và tạo điều kiện để cải thiện các quan hệ 
			“qua những hành động cụ thể.”<br>
			<br>
			Lời kêu gọi được đưa ra tiếp theo những nhận định của Đức giáo hoàng 
			Benedict trong sứ điệp truyền thống ngày Lễ Giáng Sinh, trong đó 
			ngài bày tỏ hy vọng rằng các giáo dân sẽ “không ngã lòng vì những 
			hạn chế áp đặt đối với tự do tôn giáo và tín ngưỡng của họ.”<br>
			<br>
			Trung Quốc và Tòa thánh Vatican đã có những bất đồng từ khi giáo hội 
			ở Trung Quốc bổ nhiệm một tân giám mục và bầu các nhà lãnh đạo tôn 
			giáo mới trong mấy tuần gần đây bất chấp sự phản đối của giới chức 
			sắc trong Giáo hội Thiên Chúa giáo ở Rome. <br>
			<br>
			Giáo hội Thiên Chúa giáo chính thức ở Trung Quốc hoạt động công khai 
			nhưng không công nhận thẩm quyền của Đức Giáo Hoàng. Các nhóm giáo 
			dân Thiên Chúa giáo khác thừa nhận thẩm quyền của Đức Giáo Hoàng 
			hành đạo trong bí mật và đôi khi bị ngược đãi. </font></div>
