<font face="Arial">Trong buổi tiếp kiến chung cuối cùng của năm, Đức
Thánh Cha đã nói về lễ Giáng sinh đang đến gần, về giây phút mà « ơn cứu
độ chúng ta bắt đầu, mà mọi sự đã được thực hiện, những mong đợi của thế
giới và của tâm hồn con người đã gặp nhau ». Đối với người Kitô hữu, đó
là một sự mong đợi vui mừng, đối với người nào « ước ao sống cách tích
cực cuộc gặp gỡ mới mẻ này với Đấng đến cư ngụ giữa chúng ta, là Chúa
Giêsu Kitô, Con Thiên Chúa nhập thể. Chúng ta lấy làm của mình những tâm
tình của những người đầu tiên đón tiếp Đấng Thiên Sai : Dacaria và
Êlisabeth, các mục đồng, những người bé mọn, và trước tiên là Đức Maria
và thánh Giuse…Cựu ước tạo nên một lời hứa lớn lao, lời hứa về Đấng cứu
độ sẽ đến…Sự mong đợi của chúng ta, mà xuyên qua các thế kỷ, tiếp theo
sau sự mong đợi của các nhân vật trong Thánh Kinh…cho thấy rằng tất cả
cuộc sống của chúng ta được đánh động và hướng tới nhờ một ước ao sâu xa
về những gì là đích thực hơn, đẹp đẽ hơn và lớn lao hơn, những điều mà
tâm trí chúng ta và tâm hồn chúng ta hé thấy, và cuối cùng được thực
hiện trước mắt chúng ta ».</font></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">« Đấng cứu độ đến để xóa bỏ công trình của sự dữ và
tất cả những gì vẫn còn giữ chúng ta xa rời Thiên Chúa, để trả lại tình
phụ tử ban đầu…Việc Ngài đến chỉ có mục đích cho chúng ta thấy làm thế
nào hiểu và yêu mến thế giới và tất cả những gì xung quanh nó, với chính
đôi mắt của Thiên Chúa. Ngôi Lời trở nên trẻ sơ sinh giúp chúng ta hiểu
làm thế nào Thiên Chúa hành động để chúng ta có thể để mình được biến
đổi nhờ sự nhân từ và lòng thương xót vô tận của Ngài. Trong đêm tối của
thế giới này, chúng ta hãy để mình ngạc nhiên và soi sáng bởi việc giáng
lâm này, bởi ngôi sao mà, từ phương đông, làm cho vũ trụ ngập tràn niềm
vui…Vì thế, chúng ta hãy thanh tẩy lương tâm và cuộc sống của chúng ta
khỏi những gì là trái ngược với việc giáng lâm này, những tư tưởng, lời
nói và hành vi để làm việc thiện và giúp cho việc ngự đến của hòa bình
và công lý trong thế giới này… »</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Đức Thánh Cha cho biết hang đá là biểu tượng của lễ
Giáng sinh. Nó là « việc diễn tả sự mong đợi của chúng ta, cũng như là
một lời cám ơn đối với Đấng ngự đến, trong sự khó nghèo và đơn sơ, chia
sẻ thân phận làm người của chúng ta…Chứng ta đẹp đẽ này của đức tin Kitô
giáo là một hình ảnh về tình yêu vô tận của Chúa Cha đối với toàn thể
nhân loại. »</font></td>
