<font size="3">Hôm Chúa nhựt mùng 5 tháng 12 năm 2010, Ðức hồng y
Laurent Monsengwo, Tổng giám mục Kinshasa, cộng hòa dân chủ Congo, đã
kêu gọi các phiến quân tại miền đông nước này buông khí giới và xây dựng
hòa bình.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font size="3">Trong một thánh lễ tạ ơn, đức tân Hồng y cộng hòa dân chủ
Congo kêu gọi những người có liên hệ với cuộc nội chiến hãy buông súng
và xây dựng hòa bình trong công lý và hòa giải.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font size="3">Trước sự hiện diện của trên 100 ngàn người tập trung tại
vận động trường của thủ đô Kinshasa, Ðức hồng y Monsengwo nói rằng Ðức
thánh cha Benedicto XVI đã kêu gọi mọi người hãy xử dụng mọi đường lối
phù hợp với luật pháp quốc gia và công pháp quốc tế để chấm dứt chiến
tranh tại Congo, nhứt là tại miền đông nước này.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font size="3">Tuyên bố trước sự hiện diện của ông Joseph Kabila, tổng
thống Cộng hòa dân chủ Congo và phu nhân của tổng thống nước Congo láng
giềng, đức tân Hồng y kêu gọi: "Giết hại bao nhiêu sinh mạng chẳng ích
lợi gì. Tạo ra bao nhiêu cuộc bạo động để làm tiền cũng chẳng ích gì.
Ðây là tiền bạc bất nhân".</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font size="3">Ðức hồng y Monsengwo, năm nay 71 tuổi, là người Phi châu
đầu tiên đã đậu bằng tiến sĩ Kinh thánh tại Roma. Ngài là vị Hồng y thứ
ba của cộng hòa dân chủ Congo.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font size="3">Từ hơn một thập niên nay, nhiều nhóm vũ trang, cách riêng
các phiến quân người Hutu thuộc các lực lượng dân chủ giải phóng Rwanda,
đã khoáy động tại miền đông cộng hòa dân chủ Congo và gây ra nhiều đau
thương tang tóc cho dân chúng.</font></tr>
